Best wedding venue - don't hesitate to book!
The best venue - DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK! My husband and I got married this past August and after touring a few venues we immediately knew Powder Majors Farm was our spot. Beth and Chuck were so warm and supportive throughout the entire process, and as a DIY bride planning her own wedding I would not have been able to do so without their help and guidance! Our guests were WOW-ed with the venue, and we couldn't agree more. Thank you to Beth and Chuck for an incredible wedding venue - we are beyond grateful for the memories that will last a lifetime! -

The Barn at Powder Major's Farm was truly our dream venue. Chuck and Beth we willing to work with us every step of our wedding journey: from being the first clients to book with them, to postponing due to the pandemic, to all the wacky things that pop up the week of your wedding. When our musicians were unable to attend last minute, Chuck and Beth were there to lend a hand and help find us replacement vendors.
I couldn't recommend this venue enough. Did I mention how beautiful it is? -

This new venue is an absolute gem. Nestled in Madbury on a beautiful plot of land, surrounded by conservation land complete with rolling hills and historic stone walls. Yand your guests feel private and intimate, while only being 20 minutes from Portsmouth or a little over an hour from Boston.
The barn truly speaks for itself and it’s history is an added bonus. This is not a rustic, burlap and mason jar kid of place (unless you want it to be) - the barn is a beautiful, empty canvas for you to create exactly what you want. We opted for minimal decor to show off the barn and the property - it was stunning.
A few things that make this venue stand out:
- The adjoined secondary event space, which is light and fresh and an absolutely beautiful “rain-plan”, should you not want to celebrate outdoors or experiences inclement weather.
- The farm table and chairs for 150 guests. No need for a massive rental order here!
- The built-in, brand new bathrooms and AC/heating unit. Say ‘no thank you’ to toilet trailers and weather woes.
- The land and sunset. Looking for outrageous ‘Golden Hour’ photos? This is the never ending lawn for you.
- The owners. Chuck and Beth have poured everything into this property. They are exceptional to work with - flexible, responsively, and friendly. We had an excellent experience working with them to create our dream event.

This is the most beautiful venue and Chuck and Beth were amazing to work with! Beth was very responsive and they both helped make all of our wedding dreams come true! The barn and the property are just absolutely stunning! We fell in love with this property the moment we stepped foot on it and it exceeded all expectations on our wedding day. Everyone had a place to hang out, whether it be outside playing cornhole, dancing inside the main barn at reception or drinking outside under the pavilion. -

Powder Major's is really the most picturesque New England barn with equally as interesting history. The grounds are gorgeous and the value is unbeatable. That being said, the managers are new to this role and weddings are not their first nature. They insulted other vendors and pushed back on most decisions we had made, even going back on things we had agreed on the day before without consulting us. Being from the wedding industry, we already had more experience than them and felt as though we were being undermined and doubted for no reason other than lack of flexibility and downright not wanting to cooperate. They need some time to get a handle on the venue management role, and I would highly suggest making very clear conditions with them and getting everything in writing. They made the whole day stressful and I was unable to focus on enjoying my wedding while they kept pulling the rug out from under us.The Barn at Powder Major's Farm's reply:
It was disappointing to hear that your wedding experience was so stressful, Sydney. We pride ourselves on going above and beyond to make a couple’s wedding day special and we did all we could to make sure things went smoothly. The biggest stressor of the day was the weather—all day, relentless rain. It meant for difficult working conditions for vendors, challenges for photographers, the need to move the ceremony indoors and last minute changes to keep guests from getting soaked or slipping on wet floors. This is where a wedding coordinator can make a big difference as they can take care of all the many last minute decisions so the bride doesn’t have to deal with the added stress.
We strive to be as flexible as possible because we want your wedding day to be the best day of your life. We give guidance when asked or needed as most couples have never planned an event this big before. If vendors are new to our venue we
do explain the ins and outs of our operation which is intended to be instructional. While it may seem like pushback when we tell brides they can’t have real candles or hang drapery fabric –it’s not because we don’t want to cooperate, it’s because fire code doesn’t allow it nor does our permit.
We feel honored to be a part of such a happy time in people’s lives. It’s true, we are relatively new to the wedding industry and have much to learn. We set a high standard for ourselves, and we’re so sorry to hear that this was not met in your interaction with us. We thank you for your feedback as this only helps us do better. It was very rewarding to hear that you appreciated the venue and its value. We will continue to do all we can to make every bride’s wedding day as special as she always imagined it would be ( rain or shine).
