Excellent facility

Easy to work with and very decent pricing. You are able to use whatever food vendor you wish. Note, the "kitchen" only has a refrigerator, ice maker food warmer and sinks; there is no ability to cook food.

The hall is huge. You can rent the whole hall or half. Since they have a floor-to-ceiling room divider, you wouldn't know there is another room next door. We only had 70 people, so we rented half the hall.

The rental fee includes tables and chairs. We used round tables, rectangle tables and cocktail tables. If you desire, you can also rent additional items, such as table clothes, AV equipment, a stage and a piano (we used the piano). There is a person on-site who will set up the tables and chairs. That person's job is to only set up the room, so I suggest renting at least an extra hour so you have time to decorate, set your place-settings, etc.

I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone who wants to host a wedding (or other event) and not spend a fortune.

I never thought I'd have my wedding in a community center, but I'm so glad I did!

Stacy Sherwood has a big "performance room" with new wooden floors and good natural light. It comfortably fit 150 guests with buffet tables, bar, dj and dance floor, and there was room for more.

We rented the whole building and so also used the "art room" for presents table, favors, and the guest book. The bridal party used the "rehearsal space" to catch a breather between photos and our big entrance. And the fourth room is set up like a preschool, so if we'd have more little kids attend, that would have been a good space for them to run around. We were able to take pictures in Van Dyke park right next door (and in the playground!), and downtown Fairfax has plenty of walkable places for an after party.

If you intend to have a super glamorous wedding, then this may not be the venue for you. It shares a parking lot with a police station, and the entrance lobby (and name) reveal it as a community center.

Once you get into the main performance space though, it is a lovely new ballroom!

If your main criteria are location, space, affordability, and excellent customer service, look no further! Sherwood Center was extremely responsive and helpful over email, phone and in person. Kaveh was the main event coordinator, but at least 4 or 5 other staff were equally friendly and knowledgable. The tables and chairs are set up for free and the tablecloths are lovely and reasonable to rent.

We absolutely loved the Sherwood Community Center. It was new, beautiful and spacious. We were expecting about 350 people and this space was perfect. Brianne, Kaveh and the team at the center were so accommodating and helpful, they took the stress out of part of our wedding planning. We recommend you book in advance and you definitely get a beautiful space for a very reasonable price.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
