St. James Episcopal Church is a friendly and inclusive wedding venue in Newport Beach, California. This community church overlooks Newport Harbor and offers a one-of-a-kind sacred space for couples who are ready to say “I do.” Here, couples are invited to create their own Christian ceremony, as although the venue follows Episcopal rites, they give full consideration to hosting civil or other religious services.
Facilities and Capacity
St. James Episcopal Church can provide their grand sanctuary for larger events or their private chapel for more intimate gatherings. The main sanctuary features a formal processional and high altar, accommodating 350 seated guests, while the private chapel can seat up to 20. In addition, the church provides convenient on-site parking for guests. After the ceremony, you can hold your reception at the venue’s Fellowship Hall, which can accommodate 100 guests at round tables.
When working with St. James Episcopal Church for your event, their experienced clergy, staff, and helpful volunteers are happy to assist you to ensure your big day is as peaceful and joyful as possible. The venue offers an inclusive package for weddings that includes expenses for clergy, organist/pianist, sound technician, a two-hour rehearsal, and full access to facilities for six hours on the day of your wedding. Couples may request a guest clergyperson to officiate their wedding or have the church provide one of their own members of the clergy to perform the task. On your wedding day, the venue will be reserved exclusively for your event. The church can also offer couple’s counseling, arranged through the clergy, if requested.
St. James Episcopal Church has been serving the Newport Beach community since the 1940s. In 2001, the current campus, which features stained glass windows and other fixtures from the original sanctuary, was opened to make room for the church’s expanding congregation.
