I can't say enough good things about working with Sonum. She is both an INCREDIBLE photographer and a truly wonderful person! I can't imagine having had anyone else with us on our wedding day and the process leading up to it.

We are in love with the photos from our wedding and the engagement session she did for us, and they have become even more special as time goes on. We were initially drawn to the way she captures these seemingly small moments that are full of life and emotion, and we have so many favorites from our wedding photos that are exactly that.

She is also the nicest, coolest person to work with, and she really listens to you. I can't say enough about how easy (and fun!) the whole process felt; she somehow balances total professionalism with this amazing warmth and joy, and we always looked forward to meeting with her. Sonum seamlessly balanced her hands-on involvement + a documentary style of shooting, allowing us to be present during our wedding, yet capturing all the moments we hoped for. She was also thoughtful to ask in advance what all of our preferences for involvement would be, indicating that she tailors her involvement to each couple she works with. She stuck to those preferences, and it felt like she really picked up on our energy throughout the wedding weekend.

This review is long overdue! Wow there’s just so much to say about our deep satisfaction & gratitude for Sonum capturing our special day at our sf city hall elopement. I was drawn to the bold colors and vibrancy of her photography style. From the get-go Sonum was a joy to communicate & work with. She had such a comprehensive guide on the how-to get married at sf city hall. She was super helpful in the planning process & always so prompt in her responses. On the day of, she just made us feel so comfortable & that help us be ourselves which shined through our photos. WE LOVE OUR PHOTOS SO MUCH!! Sonum captured the day perfectly, the small, big & in-between moments. The turnaround time for our photos was super fast too. Just all around such a stellar experience.

Sonum was truly everything we needed and much, much more as a photographer. She was there for us from shooting our engagement photoshoot prior to covid existing to the first version of our wedding that was to occur on March 14, 2020. Sonum was extremely understanding and communicative when it came to working with us while we figured out which version of our wedding we would be able to have with COVID restrictions.

She was always there to offer a helping hand during the planning process and she made sure we knew that our vision would be captured the way we wanted, with her expert eye and vision leading the way.

She worked tirelessly with us to help us think through our wedding, creating a deep and detailed timeline to ensure we could capture all the moments of our weekend. She made sure to reach out to all of our venues and vendors while also doing a preview of the location before the actual event. This includes her climbing up a mountain in Colorado when we had our elopement ceremony in the fall of 2020.

My partner and I hired Sonum for our wedding and we knew from the first moment we interacted with her that she was the one for us. We reached out to a few photographers and they were all very transactional in their communication. Sonum really was interested in supporting us as people first, then clients next. Her rates were competitive and her communication style was very thoughtful and very clear. The engagement shoot was very intentional with her scouting places for shoots based on our interest (going above and beyond with getting us exclusive access to a very cool rooftop in SF).

Then COVID hit and she worked with us when we had to postpone our wedding date twice. Never once did she show anything but grace, empathy, and understanding. She even brought us a nice little gift when we had to shift the second time.

For the wedding day itself, she was VERY helpful with planning an itinerary, making sure we got the shots we wanted, and capturing the candid moments. She scouted a perfect location for the after ceremony shots and was very clear and helpful in directing 15+ wedding party for the right shots. She was there directing when she needed to and fading to the background for the right times.

Sonum is a gem of a photographer and an even better human. We recommend her to anyone looking for photography. You'll get amazing pics like the ones we have and gain a potential friend in the process.

We could not be happier with our choice to have Sonum photograph our wedding! From our first meetings through to the delivery of our photos, Sonum went beyond our expectations and delivered magic!

Sonum is the perfect mix of professional and casual — it was clear from our first meeting that she was 100% organized and wasn’t going to let a single ball (or family portrait!) drop, but she was also fun, flexible, and spontaneous (and ready with her camera) whenever the unexpected arose. We wanted just a few portraits of us and our families, and otherwise “documentary” photography capturing candid moments of the wedding day. Sonum listened to our priorities as a couple and asked us lots of questions beforehand, and we felt that she truly took our desires to heart and captured exactly the types of photos we were looking for.

Of course we’d hoped for great photos given what we saw on her website, but we were speechless when we got our full portfolio back. It wasn’t just a few great shots here and there among the standard wedding candids… it was photo after photo after photo of stunning photography, beautifully composed and capturing countless special moments of our wedding. We spent almost a week going slowly through the albums each evening, feeling like we got to experience so many more moments of this magical day because of the quality of her photographs. Now it’s been over 6 months and we still haven’t picked our final prints to order because WE LOVE EVERYTHING!! We are beyond grateful that Sonum captured the joy, love, whimsy, sense of community, and small moments of our wedding so perfectly — it’s a priceless gift.

Finally, Sonum was just a delightful person to be around. We were surprised how many guests went out of their way after the wedding to tell us how much they appreciated her “vibe” and how unobtrusive she was.

We were delighted to be able to work with Sonum! We did a newlywed session at SF City Hall, and had a total blast. Sonum kept us at ease and having so much the whole time, and had great ideas for getting both authentic as well as dramatic shots. She knew everything from when to go to get the best light, to all of the great corners of the building to explore and how to strategize to get unobstructed shots. Even our consultation call was lots fun as we got to know each other, and she's even thoughtful about how you're presented with your final photos so that that's a memorable experience. We're so happy with our photos and how well they represent us!

My now-wife and I have worked with Sonum twice: once for an engagement shoot at a botanical garden, and once for our wedding at San Francisco's City Hall. We'd absolutely work with her again, and have recommended her to our friends who are looking for a professional photographer. She's fun, sweet, and very communicative. 

All of our pictures came out beautifully: she has an incredible eye. We were thrilled with how the lighting and color looked in our pictures. She also has a great touch with processing: the way she processes the photos is more natural and we look like ourselves (but a little hotter). Her pictures don't have the over-processed look that will look super dated in the future. She also caught some sweet sentimental moments that we'll treasure having documented. 

If you need more reason to book with Sonum, take it from our most discerning (judgmental) friend: "I usually hate engagement pictures, but I really like yours."

Finally, my wife and I are both women, and those of us in the LGBTQ community know that it can be a little stressful looking for supportive wedding vendors. Sonum was wonderful and very comfortable with us, and we've been recommending her to other lesbian couples we know. 

We came to Sonum by referral from a couple we know who used her for their City Hall wedding. We loved her style (candid shots, depth of field, variety) and were trying to be mindful of expenses as we made a last minute choice to hire a photog for the day (we were getting married aboard as well!). Sonum was incredibly flexible working with us through our insanely busy schedule and gave us just the right amount of guidance. Filling out the questionnaire (with questions we hadn't even thought of ourselves) and meeting with her virtually (since we had no time to physically meet up) was great because she got the vibe of who we were from both mediums. I think we also really loved how genuine she is and how excited she was for us leading up and day of- it felt so welcoming and inviting and felt like we could be ourselves. We had our family with us and we managed to get really great shots of us, and everyone. Sonum's turnaround time was impeccably fast as we requests to have a few shots before we left for our wedding a few weeks later and she managed to get some sneak peeks within days and the whole album before we left. Photos are stunning and now we have the hard task of picking which ones to hang in the house! Thank you so much, Sonum!
