Smoque catered my wedding less than a month ago and they were amazing. They were great to work with in the planning stages- for a place that claims they're not catering-centric, they do a fabulous job at all the logistics.
I had a guest who has celiac disease and they were able to tell me ahead of time what food had gluten in it and what was safe. My guest is extremely sensitive to gluten, even compared to other people with celiac, and she said she had no effects afterwards, so I know they did a good job at avoiding cross-contamination.
The day of the wedding, they were wonderful- everything was set up and ready to go on time. As the bride and groom, we didn't have to wait in line- they asked us what we wanted and brought us our plates. Everyone who had to wait still had a great experience with them- the portions were ample and kept hot. The meat is smoked at the restaurant, but they cut it on site so that it's still moist. Nearly every guest I spoke to raved about the food, said it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding.
My only wish was that there was another vegetarian option. I know it's a BBQ restaurant, but maybe a vegetarian version of the beans? The salad they have is very good- not just a plain tossed salad, but it has roasted tomatoes and sunflower seeds, and they have some of the best mac & cheese I've ever had, so at least my vegetarian guest could eat that (and she was really happy about it, since it's more than she's been able to eat at many weddings she's been to!) but I wish there was maybe one more thing.
The value is amazing- we had chicken, ribs, brisket, pork, salad, mac & cheese, beans, slaw and buns, and I think it was less than $20/person.
My husband and I plan on going to Smoque for our first anniversary next year (and probably a few times in between!)
