We wanted a space that was beautiful but also children friendly, so the Shedd was an obvious first choice. Planning the wedding was so easy as the Shedd's team was responsive, professional and understanding. We had 300 guests at our wedding and everyone had A BLAST.

I had my wedding at the Shedd on October 5, 2013 and it was perfect! The location was fantastic, food was amazing and all of the staff were beyond outstanding. All of my guests continue to talk about what a fantastic and unique venue the Shedd was.

When I was originally considering the Shedd, I met with Mary to do a walk-through. She walked me around and I knew right away that she would be wonderful to work with. Throughout the entire wedding process she was extremely professional, accommodating and a genuinely nice person.

And the best part about a wedding at the Shedd - your guests are exposed to the entire building and you're constantly moving to different locations throughout the night! My ceremony was by the beluga whales in the Oceanarium, cocktail hour was on the mezzanine level and on the outside terraces, dinner was around the Caribbean Reef and dancing happened in the main Foyer area. Guests were even encouraged to walk around and see the exhibits.

If you are considering having your wedding in downtown Chicago then make sure to include the Shedd Aquarium at the top of your list!

We had our wedding at the Shedd Aquarium and we couldn't have been happier! Everyone couldn't stop talking about what a great, unique place it was to have a wedding. The food was delicious and the staff was attentive. The backdrop to our big day couldn't have been beat. We worked with Danielle for almost two years planning everything and she was so patient and helpful with everything. I wouldn't have changed my venue for anything!

As a child, I went here while on a trip to Chicago. When my wife and I were looking at wedding venues, we were reeled in by the majestic views, unique space and courteous service we got on our first visit. My wife came back with her mother for a second visit just to make sure this was "the" place. Though I know they book dozens of weddings a year, for the 18 months that we dealt with them everything went flawless. At our actual wedding, everything went as smooth as butter. The ambiance by the reef was memorable. Many of our guests had gotten tired of the typical hotel banquet facilities and we knew this was a refreshing change and would stand out. When you book a wedding here, there are also amazing photo opps for friends and family all around museum campus.

Outstanding! What an amazing place for an event. The guests were in awe and many complemented us on the ability to have the three areas for the wedding. First the oceanarium, then the dinner around the Caribbean Reef and finally the dancing in the main foyer. The staff delivered to perfection -- wow!

The Shedd was the PERFECT venue for my wedding – I seriously cannot say enough about it. I worked with Lorelei and she was fantastic the entire time – she made it a lot easier to be a bride. I felt like the space was going to be gorgeous, the food tasting went well, and Lorelei worked with my vendors to ensure that everyone knew what was going on. She actually gave a tour to my photographer and talke strategy on how to take the best photos given the space. While I felt great going into wedding day, the actual wedding day just absolutely blew my mind. Seriously, my guests are still raving about how awesome and beautiful the Shedd was, even a month later. The staff was really fun, friendly, and great at their jobs. The bartenders learned everyone’s drink choice quickly, and the guys at the Dippin Dots station (yes, we served Dippin Dots) were dancing with guests and having a blast. The surroundings were gorgeous –I had to do very little in regards to decorations. I really loved our wedding venue and would highly recommend it. The only reason I put four stars on value was because it is a little on the pricier side. However, we cut in other areas of our budget (do not cut on photographer though, you need a great photographer for this space) and made it work. I cut in flowers (used Sam’s Club) and centerpieces (did them ourselves), and it worked perfectly. If I were to do it all over again, I would keep everything the same with our venue.

The Shedd is my favorite place in the world and it happened to be where my husband and I had our first date almost four years ago. From the time we signed the contract to the time my wedding was over, everyone was so supportive and easy to work with. There was not one thing, the entire time, that upset me or disappointed me. It was a dream come true!
