Shanty Creek Resort

We had an absolutely beautiful day in Bellaire and everyone raved about the view and how perfect the outdoor cocktail hour was. I honestly must say I was nervous about having my reception at Shanty Creek. It was 4 hours away from home... so a lot of the planning was done via email. But I was more than elated that everything turned out great! There was a bit of a hiccup on the shuttle from the church back to the resort... but our driver took care of that and made that "our" day was not ruined. Our guests raved about the wedding weekend getaway and many have plans to return next summer with their friends and family.

We used Shanty Creek just for lodging our guests but still used an event planner. The issues we ran into is that the event planner was replace 3 times in our 18 months of planning. It was difficult reminding the new planner things that we discussed with the previous one. As the wedding got closer, Shanty was a great help and accommodating our guests. They allowed us to hand pick rooms for certain guests and blocked off an entire corridor for us so that we wouldn't annoy any other guests. They offered discounted golf rates which were great.
- The bartenders at the lobby were friendly and informative.
- We ordered late night pizzas for after the wedding. They cost almost $20.00 each for a large cheese and were nothing to write home about. The morning breakfast buffet that we purchased for our guests was also just OK, and at $13.00 each I found it to be expensive as well.
Despite my few complaints, I would defintely use Shanty Creek again for lodging, golf or for small events.
