I hired Shan Cunningham after she was recommended to me by a friend from college. Her pricing was similar to that of other photographers I considered, and her portfolio showed that her photography style was the style that most matched my personal taste. What really set Shan apart though was her personality. As I knew my photographer would be a person around me for many hours on my wedding, I wanted to make sure that I hired someone who I enjoyed being around. Shan reminded me of some of my friends, but was like a friend who just happened to take really good photographs.
Shan was very easy to communicate with, both when setting up my engagement photo shoot and working through the details leading up to my wedding. She provided a very thorough worksheet for the day-of the wedding that helped my husband and I make sure that we'd get photos of everything we particularly wanted captured. Her organization helped us really figure out what it is that we wanted remembered from our wedding day.
On the day-of the wedding, Shan and her assistant were flexible and easy to work with. My makeup and hair ended up running way ahead of schedule, so I texted her a few hours she was supposed to arrive and Shan adjusted her schedule to start earlier than she planned since my bridal party would be ready early. Once she arrived, she got to work right away, photographing the little details of my dress, accessories, and final getting-ready steps. She and her assistant really made the most of the entire time they were at our wedding. As one of them would photograph a full body image, the other would focus in on the details or get close-ups of our faces. As we moved from location to location, they photographed us moving from place to place. Not a single second was wasted.
