Scarborough Custom Tailoring makes custom wedding suits and tuxedos at its showroom on Post Street in San Francisco, by appointment. Founder Christian Gardner works with each groom himself, from the first appointment to the final fitting. Most of the work is semi-bespoke, cut from a pattern made for you, with full bespoke available for those who want it. Every piece is made in fine European cloth and fitted to the way you’ll wear it on the day.

Experience

Christian has worked in custom menswear since 2008. The name Scarborough comes from his middle name and an extended family name from the Halifax area of Yorkshire, a region with a long history in wool and textiles. His approach is practical rather than precious: cloth is chosen for the wedding you’re actually having, whether that’s a summer ceremony outdoors or black tie in the city. Scarborough has been featured in Modern Luxury San Francisco’s “The 6 Best Bespoke Suits in San Francisco” and in the Nob Hill Gazette.

Services Offered

Custom wedding suits, tuxedos, dinner jackets, sport coats, trousers, shirts, custom shoes and accessories. Christian dresses the whole wedding party, groomsmen and fathers included; out-of-town groomsmen can meet him over Zoom and send their measurements. Order at least 10 weeks before the wedding for semi-bespoke and 12 weeks for bespoke, which adds a muslin fitting. Semi-bespoke suits start at $2,200 and bespoke at $3,200. A three-week rush is offered when the schedule allows, for an additional charge. Clients in Los Angeles and Orange County can book fittings at home during Christian’s monthly visits.
