We are very happy with our rings. We went when Rogers & Hollands was having a 60% off loose diamonds sale. We also bought wedding bands at the same time. We were not yet engaged, but had been discussing it often. The first loose stone we were shown was in our price range, but was pretty clearly a J-K color, at best. I am able to see the slight differences between, say, an F and a J. I was not having this stone that was flashing yellow in the store. I hate yellow. But that is a tangent for another day. The next stone was a 1 carat cushion cut, a D, and it was double our price range. I loved it, but it was way too much money. While I was off looking at other stones, my darling fiance picked out a stone all by himself. It was an I color, but after we compared it to a G, the I looked much better. More clarity, less color. It has a very slight warmth to it, which I very much liked. The saleswomen were very patient, we never felt rushed or pressured. We were then taken through various bands, and he ended up picking a plain white gold band for my e-ring. For my wedding ring, we chose a wrap that is pretty much all diamonds on top. The saleswomen were again patient as we compared bands. The only thing bad I have to say about the e-ring band is that it got dull right away on the bottom. About two weeks after we got engaged, the bottom was already dulled, and I am very careful with the band. (take it off for cleaning, showering, yard work, etc). Perhaps because it is so thin, 2mm wide. At any rate, I am having the e-ring dipped right before the wedding so that both bands match in our pictures. Am worried that the same thing may happen to the wedding band, but at least if I get the e-ring dipped, maybe they will get dull at the same rate. Fiance chose a plain brushed white gold band. He took his time choosing, but the saleswomen were again very patient as they explained the differences between gold, white gold, platinum, and titanium to him.
