We love B&Bs and wanted to stay somewhere close to our wedding venues for a quick getaway after our big day. We chose the Rivertown because not only is it a nearby bed and breakfast, but it has luxurious accomodations. We love places with history, and the Rivertown Inn is a historic lumber baron mansion turned modern-day bed and breakfast. The rooms are all named after historic writers.
We decided that it would be most convenient if I stayed at the Rivertown the night before our wedding, but not in our honeymoon suite. I stayed in the Christina Rosetti bedchamber, which was smaller and only slightly less extravagant than our honeymoon suite, but had a private bath (and whirpool tub) and a fireplace. I was also served breakfast in bed for the first time, which was super fun because it set the tone for my wedding day.
The Rivertown’s staff were accomodating and helped me move to our honeymoon suite (early!) to get ready for our day. On the way up, I looked at some of the historic picture books from the 19th century and found this photo of the courthouse we were to be married at in just a few hours from then!
We moved into the Oscar Wilde Carriage House Grand Suite for the rest of our stay. If they hadn’t told us that the carriage house was a new build, I would never have guessed. The architecture and decor were similar to the rest of the house. We brought our photographers to our honeymoon suite to take pictures between the ceremony and reception. It was raining out and we thought we’d take advantage of the fancy digs for some interesting photos.
The room had a huge king-sized bed (which we passed out in immediately upon entering on our wedding night). We watched The Princess Bride here the second night we stayed. The Oscar Wilde room not only had our whirlpool tub, but it had a huge sauna shower.
I loved our stay at The Rivertown and look forward to staying again.
