About

As an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, working in a Manhattan church, one of my great joys is walking with people through life’s most significant moments. That is why I love officiating weddings – I love guiding couples through one of the most significant moments of their lives: the moment when they make a set of promises that will unite them into one family.

While I am unapologetically Christian, I am delighted to work with people of any faith background at all – I’ve performed weddings for people from many faith traditions, including atheist, Baptist, lapsed Catholic, “spiritual but not religious,” UCC (of course!) and more… my role isn’t to be pushy or dogmatic, but to use my expertise in leading ceremonies to help the couple celebrate their marriage in a way that reflects them and their backgrounds, and honors the significance of their commitment.

As a UCC minister, I am honored and blessed to be able to preside at LGBTQ weddings.

I also have extensive experience with brief “elopement” style ceremonies for couples coming from out-of-town or out-of-state.

Wonderful Service & Kind Woman

Working with Pastor Emily was truly a blessing. We were able to come to her church and watch her give a sermon and we spoke prior to the day to get to know her. She was very professional and arrived to the church rehearsal on time. She was our co-officiant as I was Pentecostal and my husband was Catholic and was very accommodating to our situation. When the priest who was suppose to marry us bailed 2 days before, it gave me such comfort to have someone I knew be there to marry us. Her services was beautiful and I would definitely recommend her to any couple!

Rev. Brown was splendid as our officiant - the best combination of warmth, sensitivity, leadership, and good humor. She worked with my husband and me to craft what was technically an interfaith ceremony, since I come from a liberal Christian background and my husband is an atheist.

She was patient, she listened, and was helpful even during the ceremony, gently prompting my husband and I as to what we were supposed to do next. (It looks easier than it is.) Rev. Brown also led the ceremony rehearsal and gracefully prevented anyone else taking charge (ahem, anyone out there with pushy in-laws) so everyone got practice and knew what they were supposed to do.

Rev. Brown did our premarital counseling as well, something my husband wasn't so hot on before we started but quickly saw how helpful it was for both of us.

Both sets of parents, guests, and wedding party members all commented on how great she was.

I HIGHLY recommend working with her as an officiant, whatever your stripe - hetero, LGBTQ, "religious" and "non-religious" alike.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
