Of all the people we worked with for our big day, we were most anxious about finding a pastor to officiate our destination wedding- as we both have strong ties to our church in Seattle and multiple friends who are ordained. We wanted our friends and family to be able to fully enjoy the whole wedding day without any “big jobs” such as officiating, but were a little worried to have something as personal and important as our wedding performed by “a stranger.” However, when our planner (Lori from Tropical Maui Weddings) suggested Pastor Bob, all the anxiety went away. He wanted to get to know us as much as we wanted to get to know him- which we were able to accomplish over email and phone calls. It really was a perfect match for us- he did a lovely Christian ceremony, helped us set up and take our first communion together as a married couple (our “unity” activity), and sang the most beautiful prayer in Hawaiian at the end which moved my dad to tears. His message was to the point, yet meaningful. Our guests had nothing but the best things to say about him- some even got a chance to get to know him before the ceremony. There was no awkward stumbles on our difficult-to-pronounce names (mine is German, his is Colombian) and there was no air of “this is just business” with him. Pastor Bob always worked with us in the most personal and intimate way, which made our wedding day so special. Thank you, Bob!
