Old Country Tailor offered amazing alterations at an unbeatable price. The ladies here have been in business for 20+ years and go through a step by step fitting and alterations process. Nothing is done until you try the dress on and you love it. They also have an eye for things that are not totally apparent. I thought my dress only needed to be shortened, but they noticed the capped sleeves needed to be shortened and, when they did it, the dress sat better on my shoulders and was more snug against my bust. I really can't say enough about their customer service, but they are quite busy so make sure you give it at least 6 weeks to meet deadlines.

Turned into a nightmare.

I'm feeling sick as I type this, mainly because the dress of my dreams might ACTUALLY be ruined, but also because it sucks when a biz with a 4.5 star rating ends up being a miserable experience. I'm also thinking about how little time and money we have to just mess around with shady businesses who refuse to communicate, and how my mom was exploited in the process . And I have no idea how to undo what she/they did to something EXTREMELY important to me.

The one thing my mom wanted to do was pay for my wedding dress. I co-designed it over a year ago; later on, I took it in to be altered.

After three fittings, I ended up with frayed netting, ink/pencil inside the dress, and the most ill-fitting bodice I've ever seen. The straps aren't proportional with the waistband. It's just...almost intentionally bad.

There were bits of fabric between the layers of my custom tulle. I had to pull them out with my fingers.

The entire dress is...filthy. There are fingerprints everywhere and it looks grubby around the straps.

We didn't want a bustle. We said it every time we went in. They ripped the tulle apart for a bustle I specifically said I did not want.

There's white stitching where they tore the tulle. Why tear it at all? I told you this dress was special; that my mom was so excited to pay for it and that I'd designed it myself. You stood there and you understood that.

On top of that, these incredibly shady people had the nerve to charge my mother an ADDITIONAL $280 on top of the $300 she paid initially because of the "time and care" they put into the dress.

Again, it was like it was INTENTIONALLY bad. There's a reason I'm emphasizing this - you don't leave bits of fabric inside the dress and filth all over it and then say "it's perfect." I'm guessing they don't give equal service to everyone.

My wedding is in six weeks. Without a doubt, I can say I absolutely, 100% do not recommend this business. Shady vibe and scamming a 75 year old woman who just wanted to pay for her daughter's wedding dress.

Shame on you.
