About

Malo E Lelei & Hello!

Welcome to Ofa Atu Events! I am a Pacific Islander with roots from the beautiful islands of Tonga. I come from a community where we love to have a great time with our families and friends. We love to have a reason to come together to share in memorable moments that warm our hearts. The meaning of Ofa Atu in my language is I Love You. A simple phrase to encompass my company. Which is; For the love of events.

Having to grow up and help in all these types of occasions has taught me to be prepared for anything. I have been unofficially planning and coordinating events for over 10 years. Great Day-Of Coordinator

Lu'isa was a fantastic day-of-coordinator for our wedding! Leading up to our wedding, she met with us several times to talk through details, including a walkthrough at the venue itself. On the day-of, she arrived promptly and got everything set up in plenty of time. She also ran the schedule and made sure all of our vendors and cues happened just the way we wanted. We originally booked Lu'isa in early 2020 and she was flexible when we had to postpone due to the pandemic. Highly recommend!

No communication and stopped responding

When we first hired Lu'isa to be our planner, we thought we had found a perfect match, someone that got our vision, could work with our timeline and was in our budget. After hiring her, we had one phone discussion and a few back and forth email exchanges. She set up a 2nd meeting a month out with my fiance and never logged on for the Zoom call. She became unresponsive and was out of communication for several weeks. She didn't respond back until we said we were going to charge back the deposit we had paid if we didn't hear from her. We decided not to continue working with her, and she has stopped communicating once again, not answer phone calls or texts and not responding to emails. We asked for a refund on our deposit, as she failed to meet her end of the agreement, and she has completely ghosted us. This was back in June, and we still have not heard a word back from her yet (It is now October).

I wish Lu'isa the best, but I would not ever consider hiring her again, or recommend anyone else to either. Lack of professionalism, lack of attention and completely non-communication for weeks at a time. Maybe her pricing was too good to be true, but that isn't for me to decide.

Unresponsive

We had to elope in lieu of our larger wedding due to unforeseen circumstances, which meant canceling our wedding. I emailed Lu’isa to let her know. I know it’s a forfeit of the deposit, which is totally fine. My issue is she never responded back to let me know she received my email.

I emailed again to make sure she received the email and just cc’d my fiancé just in case there was a delivery issue and never heard back from her.

It’s extremely rude and unprofessional to not respond. She got half of her fee for pretty much no work and can’t even be bothered to confirm she knows the wedding is cancelled and/or wish us well.

The price to me is an obvious reflection of the services. I saw some iffy reviews across various platforms and I thought maybe they were one-sided. Now, I’m thinking there was truth to them. I can’t imagine what would have happened if we didn’t have to deviate from our original plans. It makes me wonder if we would have been left hanging.

I hired Lu’isa to coordinate my spring 2023 wedding.

I would NOT recommend hiring Lu’isa. In the beginning, she was responsive and we had several back and forth emails. However, she has been ghosting me for several weeks now. She only attempted to meet with me once (I was out of town) and never tried again. Her contract stipulates that a venue walkthrough is required 6 months before the wedding. I am now well past that window and she never reached out for this nor did she respond to my email asking about it. I asked for part of my deposit back as she has done nothing in terms of planning for my wedding and unsurprisingly she has not responded. Your wedding coordinator is supposed to relieve stress, not cause you stress. I’m only glad this happened now and not a week before the wedding so that I can find a wedding coordinator who is actually willing to do their job.

Lu’isa has some great reviews on Thumbtack and online, but recently someone wrote a new review on Thumbtack that reflects my experience. It appears that she picks and chooses which weddings she actually wants to be invested in. It’s not worth the deposit money to take that risk. If cost is an issue, I recently discovered that there are so many other wedding coordinators out there that can be within your budget. DO NOT hire Lu’isa.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
