My fantasy of having strings play as guests arrived, while I walked down the aisle and during our cocktail hour was brought to life and then some by having Gretchen and Kerry at our wedding at a private home in Oakland this month!

Their music was stunning and flawlessly performed. They really went the extra mile to support me in planning and executing what I had dreamed of for the day! They have an amazing repertoire of modern and classic music - I was so impressed by the breadth of what they offered that I truly struggled to narrow down my song list (we started with something around 50 songs that I was excited to hear played - Gretchen had to reign us in a bit ;p). I was so tickled that Everything Is Awesome was int their repertoire and they happily indulged me by playing it a second time, when I missed it being played while we took family photos. They also exceeded my expectations in their composing of a song that I wanted for my processional, but was not in their repertoire.

Not only are they musically wonderful, they are kind, clear and prompt communicators and very organized, which made the whole process a pleasure. My parents helped me plan my wedding and Gretchen and Kerry personally made each of us feel special and appreciated, and made my new husband and I feel celebrated and cared for before, during (Gretchen saved the day with a pair of nail clippers when the groom forgot to clip his nails before arriving to the venue ;P) and in the weeks since the wedding - they really do it all!

If I lived in the area, I would find excuses to hire them again and again, in a heartbeat!

It was such a joy and pleasure to have Musical Heart Strings play at our wedding. Gretchen (our main contact) was so lovely to work with, easy to talk to, and incredibly flexible.

It was so special to see my husband play his dad's favorite piece of classical music on trumpet with the string trio during the ceremony and to watch my 4 year-old jam away with them (they played his favorite music and gave him a foot percussion instrument to use!). Gretchen so very patiently over the course of a few months worked with my husband to get the piece and performance just right. She and the group also arrived earlier than expected to give my husband an opportunity to practice with them. These thoughtful touches and the care that Gretchen put into our day were really, truly appreciated.

They also have the largest repertoire of any string ensemble that I've seen, so it was so fun and exciting to be able to pick the music of our day that really reflected our personalities. Gretchen, Ed, and Kerry played so beautifully on the day of -- I could hear them from where I was getting ready and it was the best backdrop to the start of a very special occasion. Working with Gretchen and Kerry of The Musical Heart Strings was one of the best decisions we made for our Tiburon wedding. We immediately wanted to work with them after seeing their website and content, and their live performance did not disappoint. They are truly phenomenal musicians! They brought two massive highlights to our wedding that our guests are still talking about. First, they were totally open to leading our recessional, playing their instruments while walking as we exited the ceremony, which gave the entire moment a beautifully joyful and light feeling. Second, they collaborated flawlessly with our DJ for a super unique grand entrance to our reception. They played live violin and cello right along with the DJ playing Glenn Miller's "In the Mood" in the background—it was incredibly fun and really got the crowd going! Gretchen and Kerry are consummate professionals whose musical abilities are beyond compare. They set the perfect ambiance and made our day unforgettable.

Musical Heart Strings provided music for the wedding reception I coordinated, and did a fantastic job. They were kind, professional, and so talented! They had to flex a little when reception plans changed, but they did a great job. They played a vast repertoire of music, from classic to contemporary, video game and movie theme music, to special requests from the bride and groom. I highly recommend them for your special day!

Our string duo from Musical Heart Strings made our San Francisco City Hall ceremony absolutely magical. From start to finish, working with them was seamless and genuinely delightful.

They played Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” as the groom and officiant walked in, a custom arrangement of “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys for the bride’s entrance (which they commissioned specifically for us), and “Married Life” from Up as our recessional. Each piece was beautifully performed and set exactly the emotional tone we wanted.

What really set them apart was their professionalism and warmth. They met with us personally before the wedding and provided a clear, helpful digital guide for selecting our songs, which made the whole process stress-free. On the day of, they arrived early, set up everything without us having to think about it, and the music flowed seamlessly throughout the ceremony.

Beyond their talent, they were simply a joy to work with. You could tell they genuinely cared about making our day special. We couldn’t recommend Musical Heartstrings more highly to any couple looking for live music at their wedding!

Our annual Bridgerton Ball at Retzlaff Vineyards was such a success, primarily because the music was so wonderful.

Gretchen and Kerry were absolutely wonderful! They played for eight hours — covering both our ceremony and the entire reception — and were flawless the entire time.

They are truly exceptional musicians with an incredibly large repertoire. Choosing the music with them was so much fun — they had everything from classical pieces to pop, Disney, and even EDM. They’re detail-oriented, empathetic, and such a joy to work with.

Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the music — some were even singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody and Disney classics! The atmosphere they created was elegant, emotional, and full of life.

One of my favorite moments was when they performed “Levels” by Avicii — an EDM song they learned just for me. It was such a fun and memorable highlight that my friends are still talking about.

Hiring Musical Heart Strings was truly one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. They brought so much heart, professionalism, and joy to our day. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Musical heart strings was Beyond incredible. They gave a personal touch to all things, including text and phone calls between us to make sure that song selections and preferences were perfect. They customized certain melodies that I wanted and executed this perfectly. I’m only sad that as the bride I didn’t get to enjoy much of their performance during ceremony seating and cocktail hour. I would recommend to all in Napa Valley or San Francisco area. They were wonderful to work with and did an excellent job.
