My fantasy of having strings play as guests arrived, while I walked down the aisle and during our cocktail hour was brought to life and then some by having Gretchen and Kerry at our wedding at a private home in Oakland this month!
Their music was stunning and flawlessly performed. They really went the extra mile to support me in planning and executing what I had dreamed of for the day! They have an amazing repertoire of modern and classic music - I was so impressed by the breadth of what they offered that I truly struggled to narrow down my song list (we started with something around 50 songs that I was excited to hear played - Gretchen had to reign us in a bit ;p). I was so tickled that Everything Is Awesome was int their repertoire and they happily indulged me by playing it a second time, when I missed it being played while we took family photos. They also exceeded my expectations in their composing of a song that I wanted for my processional, but was not in their repertoire.
Not only are they musically wonderful, they are kind, clear and prompt communicators and very organized, which made the whole process a pleasure. My parents helped me plan my wedding and Gretchen and Kerry personally made each of us feel special and appreciated, and made my new husband and I feel celebrated and cared for before, during (Gretchen saved the day with a pair of nail clippers when the groom forgot to clip his nails before arriving to the venue ;P) and in the weeks since the wedding - they really do it all!
If I lived in the area, I would find excuses to hire them again and again, in a heartbeat!

The Best String Ensemble in Town!
It was such a joy and pleasure to have Musical Heart Strings play at our wedding. Gretchen (our main contact) was so lovely to work with, easy to talk to, and incredibly flexible.
It was so special to see my husband play his dad's favorite piece of classical music on trumpet with the string trio during the ceremony and to watch my 4 year-old jam away with them (they played his favorite music and gave him a foot percussion instrument to use!). Gretchen so very patiently over the course of a few months worked with my husband to get the piece and performance just right. She and the group also arrived earlier than expected to give my husband an opportunity to practice with them. These thoughtful touches and the care that Gretchen put into our day were really, truly appreciated.
They also have the largest repertoire of any string ensemble that I've seen, so it was so fun and exciting to be able to pick the music of our day that really reflected our personalities. Gretchen, Ed, and Kerry played so beautifully on the day of -- I could hear them from where I was getting ready and it was the best backdrop to the start of a very special occasion. Thank you so much, Gretchen, Ed and Kerry for painting our wedding day so beautifully with your music!
Working with Gretchen and Kerry of The Musical Heart Strings was one of the best decisions we made for our Tiburon wedding. We immediately wanted to work with them after seeing their website and content, and their live performance did not disappoint. They are truly phenomenal musicians! From our very first outreach, they were full of excitement and so happy to workshop unique ideas with us to make our day as special as possible.
They brought two massive highlights to our wedding that our guests are still talking about. First, they were totally open to leading our recessional, playing their instruments while walking as we exited the ceremony, which gave the entire moment a beautifully joyful and light feeling. Second, they collaborated flawlessly with our DJ for a super unique grand entrance to our reception. They played live violin and cello right along with the DJ playing Glenn Miller's "In the Mood" in the background—it was incredibly fun and really got the crowd going! Gretchen and Kerry are consummate professionals whose musical abilities are beyond compare. They set the perfect ambiance and made our day unforgettable.

Fabulous Strings
Musical Heart Strings provided music for the wedding reception I coordinated, and did a fantastic job. They were kind, professional, and so talented! They had to flex a little when reception plans changed, but they did a great job. They played a vast repertoire of music, from classic to contemporary, video game and movie theme music, to special requests from the bride and groom. I highly recommend them for your special day!

The Perfect Musical Touch for Our City Hall Wedding
Our string duo from Musical Heart Strings made our San Francisco City Hall ceremony absolutely magical. From start to finish, working with them was seamless and genuinely delightful.
Thank you so much to Gretchen and Kerry! We loved the music and we got many compliments on how it added to the ceremony.
They played Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” as the groom and officiant walked in, a custom arrangement of “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys for the bride’s entrance (which they commissioned specifically for us), and “Married Life” from Up as our recessional. Each piece was beautifully performed and set exactly the emotional tone we wanted.
What really set them apart was their professionalism and warmth. They met with us personally before the wedding and provided a clear, helpful digital guide for selecting our songs, which made the whole process stress-free. On the day of, they arrived early, set up everything without us having to think about it, and the music flowed seamlessly throughout the ceremony.
Beyond their talent, they were simply a joy to work with. You could tell they genuinely cared about making our day special. We couldn’t recommend Musical Heartstrings more highly to any couple looking for live music at their wedding!

Best vendor decision we made for our wedding!!!
Gretchen and Kerry were absolutely wonderful! They played for eight hours — covering both our ceremony and the entire reception — and were flawless the entire time.
They are truly exceptional musicians with an incredibly large repertoire. Choosing the music with them was so much fun — they had everything from classical pieces to pop, Disney, and even EDM. They’re detail-oriented, empathetic, and such a joy to work with.
Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the music — some were even singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody and Disney classics! The atmosphere they created was elegant, emotional, and full of life.
One of my favorite moments was when they performed “Levels” by Avicii — an EDM song they learned just for me. It was such a fun and memorable highlight that my friends are still talking about.
Hiring Musical Heart Strings was truly one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. They brought so much heart, professionalism, and joy to our day. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Musical heart strings was Beyond incredible. They gave a personal touch to all things, including text and phone calls between us to make sure that song selections and preferences were perfect. They customized certain melodies that I wanted and executed this perfectly. I’m only sad that as the bride I didn’t get to enjoy much of their performance during ceremony seating and cocktail hour. I would recommend to all in Napa Valley or San Francisco area. They were wonderful to work with and did an excellent job.

The most beautiful live music we could have imagined!
We hired Musical Heart Strings for our wedding in Sonoma, and they were absolutely incredible. We first heard them play a few years ago at our friends’ wedding and were completely blown away, so booking them for our own was a no-brainer.

Hire Musical Heart Strings, you won't regret it!
We had always dreamed of having a live string quartet at our wedding, and Musical Heart Strings truly brought that dream to life. One of the most special elements we wanted was a custom arrangement of the bride’s processional song: a softer, lighter version of Love Wins All by IU, based on a rendition by YouTube pianist James Wong. We spoke with a few local string quartets, but the moment we connected with Gretchen, we knew she was the one who could make it happen.
Gretchen immediately knew the pianist we were referring to and mentioned she had even done custom arrangements of his work before, including a beautiful blend of Lover x Daylight. From the very beginning, she was incredibly engaged and genuinely cared about making the arrangement perfect. She was always communicative and thoughtful, offering detailed insights and suggestions with every email exchange.
Whenever we asked for adjustments, she responded quickly and sent updated audio clips for us to review. She even created multiple versions in different lengths to help us find the one that fit our timeline best. When we heard the final version, we were absolutely thrilled. It was everything we had hoped for.
On our wedding day, Gretchen and her team played for two hours. They performed during guest seating, for the bridal party processional and recessional, and during our cocktail hour. The music was flawless, and they created a beautiful, elegant atmosphere that we’ll never forget. Gretchen has an incredibly extensive repertoire on her website, covering everything from classical pieces to video game soundtracks, movie themes, and modern pop songs. We got to select every song ourselves, which made the experience feel even more personal and special.
We are so happy we chose to work with Musical Heart Strings. If you're not looking for a full quartet, they also offer duo and trio options. Gretchen is a true professional and artist, and we can't recommend her highly enough.

Musical Heart Strings was a pleasure to work with for our wedding. Gretchen was super responsive any time we messaged her. Their repertoire is so varied that the inner nerd in my wife and I got to enjoy some studio ghibli songs added to our ceremony. We commissioned 2 songs from them and they delivered beautifully! Amazing duo!
Musical Heart Strings are the best!
My wife and I reached out to a couple of different violinists to see who could play at our wedding ceremony. We got some responses back but none made us feel as comfortable as Gretchen did. From the very first meeting, she understood our vision. She knew exactly what was required to give us the best service possible. With the many meetings we had with Gretchen, she would always assure us that we had nothing to worry about, and she could not have been more right about that.
Musical Heart Strings has a long and extensive repertoire of songs to choose from, which is one of the biggest reasons they drew our attention. We wanted a very specific song for myself to walk down the aisle to (Regalo De Dios by Julion Alvarez) and unfortunately, they did not have that song in their repertoire. When I mentioned it to Gretchen, she assured me I had nothing to worry about. We found the music sheet online and with ease, they were able to learn it and play it for us. It was beautiful. Our guests even told us how their music added to the ambiance and how every time they hear those songs on the radio, it reminds them of the ceremony. And these are the types of moments that I will cherish forever. And it was all thanks to Gretchen and Kerry. You can not only see the chemistry, but you can feel it between them as they are orchestrating.
The professionalism and care given to my wife and I during one of the most stressful times of our lives, was second to none, and I cannot be more grateful for them. With that being said, I would absolutely recommend them to anyone and everyone!

We had the absolute pleasure of having Gretchen and Kerry perform at our wedding, and it was truly one of the highlights of the entire day. From the moment the music began, their performance added an air of elegance and emotion that elevated the atmosphere to something magical.
We were able to pick so many favorites from their expansive repertoire and they seamlessly wove them together. They had excellent communication during the months leading up to the event, especially since we did custom processional songs. Musical Heart Strings made my daughter's wedding a very special event. My daughter wanted to walk down the aisle to a specific song and she commissioned Gretchen and Kerry to learn it. It sounded magnificent and made the couple very happy.
People at the wedding commented on how beautifully they played during the outdoor ceremony. Then we wanted them to move to the deck for the cocktail hour when they used an amp. They did it seamlessly and were so warm and accommodating. Gretchen was very responsive by email before the wedding and she and Kerry were perfectly prepared, so friendly and helpful during the entire process. We couldn't recommend them more highly.

Stunning Strings!
Musical Heart Strings was an absolute dream at our wedding! They played beautifully during the prelude, ceremony, and cocktail hour, setting the perfect ambiance for each moment. Musical Heartstrings means perfect music for a perfect day
Look no further and hire Musical Heartstrings, full stop. We had Gretchen and Kerry play cello and violin respectively for our November wedding at the Brazil Room in Berkeley. I love stressful situations only because they tend to be very revealing in terms of people’s character, and great character is important when you’re working on a potentially very stressful event like a wedding. Well, two weeks before the wedding, the groom decided to veto a key piece of music that was going to be part of my vows. Within a tight timeframe (and our limited budget), Gretchen took the initiative to search for a musical score that would suit a backup piece of my choosing and got me and Kerry into her home for a last-minute rehearsal. They didn’t have to do any of this and yet they did. I am forever grateful for their grace, support, and willingness to accommodate us when they didn’t have to.
From the beginning, Gretchen was so communicative and well-organized, and I just loved the sheer volume of samples on their website (which was also very mobile-friendly). Other than our caterer, Gretchen was the most communicative and on-top-of-it vendor I worked with. It was so enjoyable working with both her and Kerry and they played beautifully for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. They played everything from pieces from The Hobbit to Lady Gaga, and many other selections from their extensive repertoire. Now, I am looking forward to hopefully having Gretchen as my cello teacher. Excellent musicians, excellent people. Lots of love to musical heartstrings!

Musical Heartstrings duo Gretchen and Kerry were such an amazing addition to our Ceremony and Cocktail hour. Our guests were raving about the music. They truly helped make our Wedding incredibly special. We really enjoyed that they had an extensive repertoire to choose from and allowed us to select what we would like played. Gretchen was extremely professional and responsive. She was so helpful and pleasant to work with. My husband and I couldn’t have been happier with them.

Musical Heart Strings was such an excellent addition to our ceremony. Kerry and Gretchen are professional, kind, and incredibly talented. They were so helpful from start to finish of the planning process including music recommendations and how they could best support our ceremony vision. We had so much fun choosing the songs for the ceremony and the different genres to choose from, was astounding. Musical Heart Strings created the magical ambience that we envisioned for our wedding! We had so much fun and ease picking out songs from their repertoire. When our wedding day came, we were absolutely in awe hearing the music come to life as they delivered on every song.

Gretchen and Kerry played string duo for our wedding, it was such a success and I could not appreciate them more! They are super responsive and skillful throughout the process, from initial inquiry, to signing the contract, to choosing the music, finalizing small details, and performing on the event day. The music was so beautiful and energetic, which created a unique vibe throughout the day and all my guests loved it! More importantly, I sincerely appreciate their flexibility to play over time for the reception. The music really made a difference. I highly recommend them!

Simply Wonderful
We are so happy with the performance that Gretchen and her string quartet brought to our wedding. We had them play for our ceremony and cocktail hour. They had such a wide selection of music with a few of my favorites already in their repertoire. My husband and I have a special attachment to Ghibli films, and so we felt like it was a must to request some special arrangements from our favorite films. Gretchen arranged beautiful pieces from “The Wind Rises” and “Howl’s Moving Castle” to play during our ceremony. Gretchen made special effort to ensure that we heard the arrangements in its entirety, and she even played for us when we were taking bridal party photos before guests arrive!
Gretchen also made an extra special arrangement for my bridal procession where she included by favorite section of the piece, and played it at the right moment during my walk. The timing couldn’t have been better.
Their performance was everything we had hoped for. We even had our guests come up to us to ask where we found such talented musicians!
After they finished playing, Gretchen greeted and congratulated us personally, which we appreciated
All of these small gestures mean so much to us. Working with Musical Heart Strings was such a joy, from beginning to end.

Musical Heart Strings were such a pleasure to work with! We had the string duo option perform at our ceremony, and the music was wonderful. They have a large selection of music to choose from and it was all beautiful. Additionally, they have the option to commission original arrangements of whatever song you choose. We couldn't pass this up and each walked out to unique arrangements. Such a magical experience! Gretchen was very responsive and attentive. Great Wedding Music
Musical Heart Strings was a perfect addition to our wedding! We had their full string quartet at our outdoor event.
The communication before the event was very responsive and helpful. We discussed a detailed plan for the ceremony music, as well as a set list for the cocktail hour. I asked for Gilbert and Sullivan music to go with our nautically-themed wedding and they were able to acquire and arrange several more G&S tunes beyond what they already had in their library! The cost of this extra service was very reasonable and led to a personalized wedding experience that was exactly as I had imagined.
On the day of the event, the performers were very skilled and played beautifully. They flawlessly hit their cues in the wedding ceremony and our guests loved the extensive collection of music they played during the cocktail hour.
Musical Heart Strings has a vast library of classical music, movie tunes, and pop songs to choose from, so any mood you want to set for your event can be done easily. They are all skilled professionals who really know their music and sound great on every tune they play. Thank you very much for the great performance!!

Wow! Musical heart strings was outstanding! Getting chills all over again thinking about how special they made our wedding day. The musical heart strings quartet played for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. They made each event very memorable. They have an amazing song selection list, and are so talented. The ceremony music exceeded our expectations. The cocktail hour music fit our request perfectly (classy, fun, timeless). Could not recommend this group enough. Gretchen is a delight to work with. Extremely talented musicians. I requested a string trio with amplification and foot percussions. Boy did they deliver and then some. Aside from a huge repertoire to choose from, they sound amazing. They made our garden reception exquisite. Music of angels. For some reason they make covers sound divine. I believe that music is a universal language and a vehicle that brings the heavens and the earth together. I would not hesitate to book them. But book far in advance.

Musical Heart Stings did an incredible job at our July wedding in Sonoma County! Gretchen/MHS were very responsive to questions and emails, flexible with song choices and extremely professional and kind. You can see they truly have a passion for what they do. We hired Musical Heart Strings for a May 2022 wedding. They more than lived up to the great reviews earned by their previous performances.
Gretchen was wonderful to work with. The number of musical selections from which we could choose our 42 songs was positively huge. They came an hour early and stayed as long as we needed them. While we had arranged for only three musicians they sounded like many more, with their sound carrying more than 100 feet across an expansive venue. If you need highly dedicated and professional musicians for your event, this is the group for you.

Booked Musical Heart String for my wedding in Sonoma and the team played beautifully on our special day. Live string music was a hit with my guests and elevated the event. From ceremony through cocktail hour, the music was perfect for an outdoor vineyard setting. I was able to pick from a wide repertoire selection on their website; they have everything from pop, classical, to fun and whimsical. My ring bearer walked down to the tune of James Bond and the guests LOVED it!

I'm so glad we hired Musical Heart Strings for our wedding! They added so much to the day with their extensive and very diverse repertoire. Picking our song list was so fun because they have seemingly endless options to choose from! We ended up opting for the quartet option and couldn't have been happier. They sounded absolutely beautiful together! We asked them to play through guest arrival, our ceremony, and our cocktail hour. Working with Gretchen was a breeze - she's incredibly professional, responsive, and genuine. I had multiple people compliment me on their performances and even passed their contact information on to a friend who asked for it for another wedding!
Pro tip: Think twice before letting your photographer take some pre-ceremony formal photos right next to where the Heart Strings are playing! It was an already emotional time, but the tears really started to flow with the beautiful sounds of Ed Sheeran instrumentals in the background! It was all I could do to keep it together and stay photo-worthy! :)

Excellent experience in a pandemic
We had booked Musical Heart Strings for our wedding in April 2020. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit and we had to reschedule our wedding not once but twice. Gretchen was there every step of the way! They have such a great selection and are also open to suggestions! All of my guests loved the music. I was just bummed that I was taken away for photos so I couldn't enjoy their music more before they left! I would recommend them to any bride, groom, or even a family event or party!

Ironically I got more help planning my ceremony from Gretchen than my officiant. On the day of the wedding ceremony, they performed beautifully. They made my ceremony feel very special and beautiful. Five Stars Isn't Enough!
We cannot give Musical Heart Strings a high enough review! From the moment we reached out to them and saw their videos on YouTube, we knew we found the perfect live music for our June 2021 wedding; and they confirmed our decision every step of the way. Our primary contact was Gretchen, Musical Heart Strings’ cellist. When we had to postpone our wedding a year due to the pandemic, Gretchen was amazing. She helped us change our contract and communicated with us every step of the way. She also did a custom arrangement for our ceremony and worked overtime with our friend who sang during the ceremony. The music during our ceremony and cocktail reception was wonderful. MHS has a large repertoire of songs you can listen to and choose from on their website, so we got to create our own playlists, which was fun and added to the personalization of our wedding. Gretchen, Kerry, Dagenais, and Betsy, who played at our wedding, are talented musicians who were prompt, professional and made our wedding classy, fun and memorable. Thank you, Musical Heart Strings! Kerry and Gretchen are so wonderful and engaging. They have a huge repertoire of songs that are easily accessed on-line for a preview. We exchanged a few emails (and they are prompt) outlining what songs I wanted played during certain parts of our ceremony. On a side note, my fiance told them (before I arrived) that he planned to sing to me. On the spur of the moment, they offered to accompany him (but he declined,) While he sang, they recorded his performance for us and sent it to us! That was so nice and special of them! They were so personable and professional and the song renditions were just perfect! Our elopement planner arranged their services for us... but I would choose them 1000 times over and over again for another event.

Wonderful Music
From the moment I started listening to their music on their website, I could envision our entire ceremony. I loved that I could hear snippets of their songs online, that they had songs categorized by parts of the ceremony to make it easier to narrow down the options, and that when I asked for a song that they didn't have they offered to include it (for a small fee). Gretchen wanted to ensure that the music was exactly what I wanted and even called to confirm I was happy with our selections when some of our other vendors asked us to consider changing our approach. Their music is lovely and you won't be disappointed! Our Guests felt the same.

Highly Recommend!! Beautiful music by great people!
We first had the idea of hiring live music for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour when we heard a violin version of the song "Perfect". The moment I heard it I turned to my now husband and asked what he thought about hiring someone to perform it live while I walked down the aisle. We contacted Musical Heart Strings and signed the contract the same day. Gretchen and her team were great to work with throughout the planning process, and their performance was amazing.
I cannot imagine our ceremony without them. The music was so beautiful! It is the one thing that stands out in my mind as I remember walking down the aisle. What a memory to have! I would 100% recommend Musical Heart Strings! They were very professional and the talent they have is something that will make your big day have that extra special touch!

Beautiful Music!
We hired Musical Heart Strings for our ceremony and cocktail hour and we're so glad that we did! Gretchen, the cellist, was our primary contact throughout the planning process and she was such a joy to work with. She understood the vision for our wedding day and offered suggestions on the different songs they could play. Their musical repertoire is incredible and we had so much fun going through and choosing which songs we wanted. Wow- what a lovely group of women to work with!! From booking to day-of, they were extremely organized and on top of everything. The perfect addition

A wonderful vendor!
We hired the violin + cello duo for our wedding day. Gretchen and her team was wonderful. They were super responsive via email throughout the planning process and they have such an extensive song list that it was difficult to choose! We had Musical Heart Strings play during both our ceremony + reception and all of our guests loved the live music they provided us. I'd highly recommend Musical Heart Strings! They are awesome!

Amazing!!!!!
Having Musical Heart Strings perform in our wedding was VERY special! Gretchen and Carrie played during our ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and cake cutting! Gretchen was very professional, accommodating, and very responsive. Gretchen and Carrie had beautiful smiles the entire time and you can actually feel their warmth and happiness. They truly are the kindest and friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Too bad my husband and I are not from the area otherwise we would hire them for future events! We HIGHLY recommend them! We are super happy that we chose Musical Heart Strings for our wedding ceremony and reception. Their music was beautiful and exactly what we hoped for. We hired them as a trio, which added a nice depth of sound. Originally, we asked for 3 hours, but later decided on 4. We wanted them to play during the first cocktail hour as our guests arrived, the ceremony, the second cocktail hour when we were busy with the photographer, and then during dinner. Gretchen made it happen. A couple weeks before the wedding we started thinking that 4 hours might be too much, but it wasn’t at all. Our guests raved about the music, and the musicians were lovely, professional and fun.
As far as logistics with booking the band, choosing the songs, timing, etc., Gretchen made it easy and she was always quick to respond to our emails. She answered all of our questions, as well as asked us about important details, so that there were no questions on wedding day. We wanted a song that wasn’t on their list, and they learned it. Everything went as planned, was absolutely beautiful, and flawless.
We highly recommend choosing Musical Heart Strings for your event, as they made ours extra special and memorable. We couldn’t have asked for anything more!

Beautiful music and friendly musicians. I can truly say that they made my event extra special. I had a string trio play at my wedding and they were able to play beautiful heartfelt string versions of both classical and modern love songs from the Beatles to Talking Heads to Colbie Caillat. I felt that the artists genuinely cared about my event and worked extensively to make sure every last detail was just the way I envisioned it. Because they cared so much they really contributed to the atmosphere of my wedding. I wholeheartedly recommend their work.

First off, let me just say...WOW!! Musical Heart Strings will exceed any expectation you ever have when searching for strings for your wedding or special event! We booked with Gretchen for our wedding, and they performed SO beautifully!!! Our guests were so blown away by the level of talent and class that Musical Heart Strings brought to our wedding. They truly made the wedding feel like royalty. Ever song they played was seamless and so heartfelt. I initially booked for 2 hours and at the last minute realized I need extra time. Gretchen got in touch with the other members of the trio and they were able to accommodate us with no problems. Gretchen is so prompt with her responses and SO incredibly helpful and detailed when it comes to song selections and timeline. The musicians are top of the line. Musical Heart Strings helped to make our ceremony feel so elegant based on the playlist that they created for us/ we had selected together.
They were so flexible and willing to move with us as we found ourselves taking photos in a park just below our wedding site. At one point my photographer said, "Is that Queen?" I said it sure is and he responded, "that's awesome!" He was right! It WAS awesome that they have such a fun grouping of songs from which to select and their arrangements are beautiful and creative!

An Easy Choice!
We hired Musical Heart Strings string trio for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. They were a terrific addition setting the perfect mood. They have a wide range of songs of many styles so we had no problem picking songs that we liked and fit our ceremony perfectly. Musical Heart Strings played at our "Celebration of Life" for my sister. I felt so fortunate to have found them. They provided 2 strings and a keyboard player (as requested) and I think they would be perfect for a wedding. At a difficult time for decision making Gretchen really took care of us. We knew we was in good hands and indeed we were. They played beautifully the songs we requested as well as fill-in songs where appropriate to keep in line with the event. The Most Memorable Music for our Most Memorable Day
Thank you, Musical Heartstrings, for celebrating and sharing our wedding day with us. It felt like a dream. It was truly the most magical moment of our lives, and your presence was a part of that.
We fell in love with musical Heartstrings even before we met them. Through their YouTube videos, we felt an initial sense of their love, joy, and just the right touch of silliness and giddiness. Gretchen and Kerry were amazing and professional in every way. Not only did they have an extensive repertoire from which to choose our wedding pieces, they were willing to learn new pieces for very reasonable fees. We were able to include inspiring pieces from Yiruma, Final Fantasy, and Studio Ghibli. We were lucky enough to be able to meet them before our wedding and preview many of our songs choices at one of their restaurant performances.
They were so generous with their time. On our wedding day, they volunteered to show up quite early to rehearse a song a family member was going to sing for us. When we walked down the aisle, they were able to anticipate if we were walking too slow or too fast and adjusted the song duration accordingly. Our wedding inevitably ran behind schedule. Without a moment’s hesitation or anyone even asking, the quartet voluntarily and graciously continued playing way beyond their appointed time. We of course offered to compensate for their extra time, but what they did for us was priceless.
These ladies are doing this because they love what they do. They play to their musical heart’s content. Their delightful energy, heartfelt playing, and professional courtesy all contributed to a memorable ceremony and reception despite all the unexpected delays and hiccups we had. We and all of our guests were moved and mesmerized by the music and the way it seamlessly carried our ceremony. We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful moment in our lives, and we had Musical Heart Strings there to help make it all happen. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We were truly lucky to have met you and were deeply honored to have had you at our wedding.

Amazing band that can make your event a magical experience
Musical Heart Strings played at our wedding and they made our special day magical! From when I first reached out to them to the wedding day, they’ve always been extremely responsive, helpful, and flexible. At first, I wasn’t sure what music to choose, they advised me on the type of music appropriate for the occasion and also offered to play a custom song (for us it’s Falling Slowly from the movie Once) for our ceremony. During the wedding day, they brought their amp and had to change their location 3 times (from the ceremony to the cocktail area to the reception hall). Through it out, they played beautifully and our guests loved them. Thank you Music Heart Strings! I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a truly special event.

Hired for our wedding and then a work event!
My husband and I hired Musical Heart Strings to play at our wedding and it was one of the most memorable parts of our ceremony and cocktail hour. They really made our wedding special by playing songs that fit our personality. They even learned our song and had it perfected by our wedding date. They were on time and answered all of our questions in a timely manner.

My husband and I first heard Musical Heart Strings at the Presidio Wedding Fair two years ago. When my husband asked if they knew "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk and they quickly downloaded the song and played it (without knowing what it sounded like first!), we were more than impressed. We hired them for our outdoor Presidio (SF) wedding, and they were fantastic. The team was professional, helpful, and most importantly, played absolutely beautiful music. Musical Heart Strings is comprised of the duo Gretchen and Kerry with a rotating cast of musicians depending on the clients needs. Gretchen and Kerry are just awesome! They are both great to work with and so responsive! Both Gretchen and Kerry were easy to communicate with and they had great suggestions when I was unsure about anything.
I had them play at my wedding and they helped set the mood and made cocktail hour so classy with the music. The response from family and friends were all positive. I did not expect to have so many people come up to me to tell me how awesome the music was and how much they enjoyed it. It is really fun for people to hear pop songs in classical form and helps breaks the ice among guests.
My only regret was that I was too busy with the wedding festivities that I was not able to talk to them or thank them personally. (Thank you!) Though I was not able to talk to them the day of, they were still so sweet to send a card congratulating my husband and I - really sweet and thoughtful of them!
I highly recommend having Musical a Heart Strings play at your event!

They were not only did they set the most amazing ambiance, they were also incredibly accommodating- my photos took longer than anticipated, and they were kind enough to play for additional time (additional cost which I would gladly pay 10 times over). Our son hired Gretchen and Kerry to bring a quartet to his wedding in Lodi in August 2017 and everyone was “blown away” by the beautiful music played before the wedding, during the ceremony and the cocktail hour. Honestly, I got more praise from guests like “Where did you find them?” “They are incredible!” The two ring bearers and the flower girl each walked down to different songs. When my grandson (ring bearer) walked down to the “theme from Star Wars” the guests hooted and hollered!!! It was truly adorable and the quartet which had 2 violins, a piano and a cello(?) were amazing playing it!
Our daughter was so impressed she asked me to please get them to play at her wedding at Lakeview Lodge at Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe in August 2018. I checked 5 stars for everything for them because they deserve them and FLEXIBILITY was a huge deal for us. They would be coming a long, long , LONG way to play this wedding for our daughter. I would not even ask them to come without offering to pay hotel accommodations and gas for this long trip for them as well. To my understanding, our daughters’ wedding was their first Tahoe wedding due to distance. We feel truly honored that they came so far to make this day extra special for her.
Again, the accolades I received on their music, how beautiful it was at certain times and then how fun it was at other times, their being so wonderful and easy to work with just makes me want to find another event soon to schedule them for.
We are out of children now that all three are happily married, but I am will find a reason to have them at another event. Maybe my husband and I will have an anniversary party one year!!!

What do you do when your fiance requests theme music from the Rocky movies and Top Gun? You call Musical Heart Strings. Gretchen, Kerry and team went above and beyond playing incredible versions of my favorite Beatles songs...and you guessed it, Eye of the Tiger for my husband. I still have guests comment on the unique playlist and how well it suited us as a couple. The MHS team was professional, easy to work with and didn't require very much effort on our/our wedding planner's part on the day of. They showed up, played beautifully and helped us make our wedding day absolutely perfect.

Asking Musical Heart Strings to play for our pre-ceremony, ceremony, and cocktail hour was one of the best decisions we made planning our wedding. We met them at a wedding expo, were immediately impressed by their talent, then got to talk to them and were further impressed by their warmth, enthusiasm and flexibility. We signed with them on the spot. Gretchen and Kerry took time to work with us on our song preferences, plan for location changes (they played in 3 places!), and coordination of various musicians playing at various times. It was seamless and fun to talk it all through with them and, in the end, we had the best musical experience we could have asked for! It is no surprise they are so highly rated and respected. You couldn't ask for a better group!

We absolutely loved our duet from musical heart strings for our ceremony and cocktail hour music. They performed beautifully and have an incredibly wide selection of songs. Their website recordings makes it much easier to build out a song list as the actual recordings can sound different based on the ensemble you are using.

My husband and I used Musical Heart Strings for our ceremony music during our wedding on November 11, 2017 at Saratoga Springs in Saratoga, California. Their performance was breathtakingly beautiful and working with them was one of the easiest and best aspects of our wedding planning process. My husband and I had very specific ideas about the music to be played during our wedding and we were able to work with MHS on custom arrangments and they even learned two songs for us - while there was increased cost in order to fulfill our demands we were astonished at how reasonably priced they were and the fees for our customizations. MHS is ideal particularly if you would like a variety of both classics and modern works. MHS played Concerning Hobbits, the Rains of Castamere, Apocalyptica's arrangement of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, and Vaughn William's Lark Ascending during our ceremony. They then played a variety of classical, jazz and modern covers during our cocktail hour. Their website is incredibly detailed and has many samples of their diverse repertoire. Lastly, they were incredibly easy to work with via telephone and email; highly responsive.

My husband and I had the privilege of having Musical Heart Strings perform for our wedding. We had a combination of contemporary and classical music. They were wonderful and flexible. My guests were so impressed and enjoyed “guessing the tune”. At one point, there was a snag in our schedule and we had to stall before we walked down the aisle and Kerry and Gretchen were pros and were able to continue to play music that wasn’t on my list and it worked seamlessly. I will definitely recommend them to all my friends. They were wonderful! Thank you!

We had the MHS string quartet play at our wedding. They were responsive, on time and played really well. We didn't give them any direction on what to play and do, except a few key songs. They executed well and fill the rest with beautiful music without any directions.
The day of the wedding we didn't have any interactions with them, but the music was great and exactly right to set the ambiance.

Kerry and Gretchen are the absolute best! They are so warm, friendly, and helpful! They make it seem like you are working with friends instead of just another vendor. Their music selection was beyond what we had hoped and they even put together a new piece for us. They were great about following up with us and were so patient as we took our time in choosing all the songs we wanted for the different parts of the ceremony. They also were so helpful in coordinating with my cousin since I asked if they would play the song together, but they only had the day of the wedding to practice. They did an incredible job and I definitely teared up as they played my favorite song as I walked down the aisle. Thank you so much Musical Heart Strings for being so amazing!

Gretchen, Kerry and Eryn were playing at our wedding reception and cocktail our at Elliston Vineyard (Sunol, CA) on Sep 7th, 2017 (2 strings and 1 piano).
I could not have asked for a better vendor. They were phenomenal!
They were one of the most communicative vendors we hired and very, very easy to work with. I always had the feeling that they honestly cared about us.
In addition to their already awesome repertoire, they learned a song just for us because I really wanted to walk down the aisle to a specific song. And they went out of their way to accommodate me. I also loved that they offered a lot of modern songs and music from movies (oh Disney!).
They truly helped us making our wedding they perfect and ensured smooth planning process for me! I can definitely recommend them!
In fact, my husband and I will go to one of their gigs in Danville or Martinez soon just to hear them play again.
