Working with Whitney (Mountainaire Gatherings) was truly one of the greatest gifts of our wedding day. From the moment she arrived, her joy and warmth were contagious... it was impossible not to feel beautiful, valued, and completely at ease in her presence. To start, we have to mention that we received the entire photography package in full for free. We won it as a giveaway and were super blessed by Whitney to have an entire day on the house.

She wanted to hear about our story, the way we fell in love and continue to do so, and the vision for the wedding. She is very personal in all the right ways and is one of the most professional and thoughtful photographers. We are quite awkward in photos but somehow, she made all of them dreamy and perfect. When we started looking for a wedding photographer, Whitney’s work immediately stood out to us—her photos style is right up our alley and we noticed her subjects appear relaxed and happy (rather than awkward!). Then we met her on Zoom, and it was game over. We literally couldn’t imagine trusting anyone else with our wedding day.
Whitney goes above and beyond. She location scouted for us in a literal MONSOON the day before our wedding (lucky for us the weather cleared the next day).
On our wedding day, Whitney was incredible. She slept in her truck at the trailhead and met us at 4AM so we could get our dream photos at sunrise sharing our vows. When we met her, instantly she felt like an old friend. It was a joy spending time with her. She’s super organized - she sent us a detailed questionnaire beforehand to ensure we got every shot we dreamed of, so the whole day felt seamless. Even though we’re usually camera shy, she magically makes everything feel fun and natural—never awkward or staged. Most of the time I wasn't even thinking of the camera pointed at me!
And the photos? We are OBSESSED. Whitney perfectly captured every emotion, every detail, and every moment. She delivered all of them early, and we couldn’t believe how stunning they were. Our friends and family are raving about them too.

There is absolutely no universe in which you’d regret hiring Whitney to shoot your engagement and/or wedding. She is both incredibly talented and so easy and fun to work with!

We consulted with several photographers before my wife and I both agreed that Whitney was the correct choice. She then joined us on snowy Mt Hood for an engagement shoot and we left with some INCREDIBLE photos and confidence that she was going to be amazing at our wedding. She makes being on the other side of a camera so joyful and fun and makes you feel super comfortable while walking you through silly prompts on how to pose that elicit genuine smiles and laughter.

Leading up to our event, she was an excellent communicator regarding what we could expect and helped us adjust our timeline to ensure both good lighting for photos and coverage of the wedding. The day of, she arrived before her scheduled start time to scout the venue and pick out some of the best spots for portraits and sunset photos. She worked her magic once again for our individual, couples, and family photos before blending into the background to capture our ceremony and reception. Throughout it all, she was all smiles and laughter and seemed like she was having as much fun as we were. Just A+ professionalism and people skills, all around.

Just the next day, we received a sneak peek of 20 AMAZING photos that made us laugh and tear up all over again. We’ve just received our full gallery after a little over a month (ahead of schedule based on her provided timeline!) and are nothing short of ecstatic with the results. What’s more is that we had some good friends who got married this last weekend who also picked Whitney as their photographer independently from us. Their wedding had a completely different vibe than ours and their sneak peeks also perfectly captured both their love and their beautiful event.

TL;DR: Whitney is both incredibly talented and so cool and fun to spend time with that you’ll want to hang out with her even after your gallery is delivered. We’re so grateful for her amazing work and picking her again would be a no-brainer.

Six weeks out from our 16 mile hike-in mountain wedding, I chose Mountainaire Gatherings, and we were not disappointed! Whitney (who runs the entire operation) is so professional, organized, and approachable, not to mention her obvious talent at capturing the beauty of the landscape and people - even with wild fire smoke rolling in! From the moment I contacted her, she was so responsive and clear on her information (including being upfront about her fee structure, everything that is included, and her hiking capabilities). We never met in person prior to our wedding hike, but our contact over zoom and email was always so positive and understanding, and plans were super clear. She was even able to help us manoeuvre a few ideas to capture the best light possible for where we were located in the PNW. Whitney does her research!!

My husband was a little skeptical on a photographer, not wanting to be distracted by someone “taking photos”, and he immediately clicked with Whitney’s vibe. On the day, Whitney was like hiking with a best friend. She just fit in! It was like we had known her for our entire life. Half of the time, we didn’t even know she was documenting our moments! She was running around the mountains like a mountain goat, ahead of us, behind us, and even night hiked back to the trailhead near midnight. On a 16+mile hike with over 2300ft Elevation gain, you need someone who is just going to get it done, and Whitney was like a positive cheerleader the entire time. So much joy and not an ounce of heavy energy! She made our day perfect! And these pictures are everything we wanted and more.

Mountainaire Gatherings relocated to the PNW with over a decade of experience on the east coast, Adirondacks etc. but please don’t let that deter you. Whitney is very familiar with the PNW landscape. We did have that same feeling of wanting to find someone familiar with the PNW, but Whitney’s work speaks for itself. She knows mountains, she loves nature, she’s an adventurer, understands portraits, captures the beauty of joy in people, and knows the importance of documenting the story of YOUR wedding day. I cannot recommend Mountainaire Gatherings enough!

I am incredibly long overdue in writing this, but hiring Whitney was the BEST choice I made for my engagement and wedding photos (yes, better than saying yes to my husband, Jeff ;). In fact, she was my only photographer choice; in my mind, there was no other option. See, I had been following Whitney on Instagram for a few years. And while not local to the ADKs, I visit them multiple times a year, and I always knew that some part of my love story would take place there. Sure enough, Jeff proposed to me one December in Lake George, and I immediately reached out to Whitney for engagement photos the following fall in Lake Placid. If I had it my way, we would have also been married in the ADKs, but given family arrangements and travel, we decided to stay local on Long Island. Once we made that decision, I briefly looked at some LI/NYC based photographers, all the while saying, “this one KINDA is like Whitney… this one SORTA has a Whitney feel…” until I thought, wait, maybe Whitney can just travel down to LI — and travel she did!

We got married this past December (2022), and we knew getting married in December on Long Island could really mean any type of weather — we were NOT expecting pouring rain and 50 MPH wind guests. I’ll never forget looking outside the window that morning and getting a text from Whitney — she was at our photo location (a lighthouse on the north shore); she told me the weather was dicey and she was up for anything, so what did I want to do. I didn’t hesitate, pretty sure I legit said, “F it, I’m game if you’re game” — of course, she was game! And we got, truly, my favorite photos of the wedding — rain, wind, freezing bridal party, and all!

In many bridal Facebook Groups, brides would say their photographers wouldn’t go outside in the rain, not Whitney. Or photographers who didn’t go and scout the location, not Whitney. Or photographers with exhaustive shot lists or ultimately missed photos, not Whitney. Or photographers who could not tweak timelines/locations on the fly, not Whitney. Or photographers were not delivering sneak peeks or albums until months later, not Whitney. Simply put, Whitney is a bad*ss — she was dressed for all terrains; handled my bridal party with ease, humor, and patience, all while keeping us right on track; and I knew so confidently that if ANYTHING popped up that day, Whitney would help navigate the situation and figure out a solution.

If you’re reading this and already like her photos/style, I can assure you her personality is even more incredible. Feeling so anxious and overwhelmed the day of, it was nice to just speak to her or watch her take detail shots — she was never out of reach and always in tune with what myself or the whole bridal party needed. She’s organized AF and was the only vendor I worked with to offer so much advice, resources, and a detailed email paper trail ahead of the wedding. I could write a novel, but I echo with what every other 5 star reviewer has said (and there’s a reason she only has 5 stars) — Whitney is a dream, and we thank every higher power that she was available to shoot our wedding day. No matter where you live, PNW, ADKs, anywhere — I promise you won't make a better choice than booking Whitney

We heard about Whitney through a friend who thought she might be the perfect fit based on what we were looking to do on our wedding day. I checked out her website and social media and was immediately amazed at her work. After our initial chat over FaceTime we both loved her personality and knew we wanted her to be our photographer. When the week of our special day finally arrived, the weather was looking extremely iffy. Typical September in the ADKs! We booked an adventure elopement package and our plan was to hike Jay Mountain and have our ceremony at sunset. Knowing that the weather might present issues for our original plan, Whitney developed several alternate options for us, even offering to do something the day before! She really went above and beyond. We decided to hope for the best and initially stuck to our original plan. The weather in the morning was perfect and we were able to get photos together, with our two dogs and with our immediate family at our AirBnb. By the time we were ready to begin hiking, clouds quickly started covering the sky. We still pressed on. As we hiked, you could feel the temperature drop and it started to rain. We reached the first overlook and were fully socked in a cloud! We had time on our side and Whitney was down to do whatever we felt most comfortable with. We ultimately ended up hiking back down and doing our ceremony along the Ausable River. Despite the crazy weather and a last minute change in plans we still had the absolute best day. We will always have great stories to tell and will be forever grateful for Whitney’s creativity, flexibility and top notch talent!

Hiring Whitney was THE BEST decision we made for our wedding. Her photography style captures the *true* emotion of the day. Every picture from our wedding immediately transports us back to that moment because her images tell a story. We will be able to relive the magic and warmth of our wedding day over and over again for years to come because of her eye for detail.

She's able to get those intimate moments on camera because Whitney begins the process by deeply wanting to get to know you and your significant other.

She video chats all of her clients before they book to get a feel for their personalities. Within less than three minutes of meeting her via FaceTime, my husband and I KNEW our wedding day would not only be impeccably captured - but *enhanced* because we would have so much fun with Whitney throughout the day.

That couldn't have been more true! After months of shared phone calls, e-mails, bouncing ideas off one another and getting to know each other better - my husband and I were SO excited to meet Whitney in person on our wedding day.

Whitney's positivity is infectious. She is *determined* to make sure you get every image you want. She will keep you (and most importantly, your friends and family) on schedule.

On top of that, she is an incredible resource. She lets you know right off the bat, she is there to help you throughout the entire process (regardless of whether it even has to do with your photos or not). She is the best sounding board for all your wedding planning because she is a true professional and she'll give you an honest opinion.

When I initially stumbled upon her Instagram, I was toying with the idea of having a destination wedding in the Adirondacks. We hadn't booked anything yet - but I was definitely drawn to the woodsy, gorgeous lake setting of the Adirondacks. Scrolling through her pictures, I was gob smacked. So artistic, so intimate, so whimsical! I decided we ***had*** to book her and she captured our wedding in Lake Placid so beautifully!

I truly could not imagine the wedding day or wedding planning without Whitney and I could never thank her enough for the gift of her photography!

Whitney is a phenomenal wedding photographer. Neither of us are super comfortable in front of a camera but she captured us beautifully and guided us through the day. Prior to our wedding she provided planning materials and advice. She helped us plan out our unique timeline and was flexible with changed. On the day of Whitney met us at our chosen trailhead for sunrise, prepared and ready to start hiking. Not only was she a great photographer but she was so much fun to hike with. Throughout the rest of the day she was ready with spare pins and quick fixes whenever we needed.

Our family and friends told us all weekend how professional and laid back she was and how she made sure to capture everything and everyone. She was ready to go with a list of our family by name for requested group shots. She took full advantage of our venue and scoped out the best photo locations. We feel like our final gallery will fully capture our wonderful venue. We received our sneak peek photos quickly and have a clear timeline for when to expect our full gallery. Whitney has answered all of our questions and communicated clearly with us since we booked her over a year ago.
