In the midst of 6 cake tastings (spread over a few weeks, of course), I realized that I had to book Montclair Baking. They were super professional, flexible on their delivery, and the carrot and double chocolate cake tasted amazing. The carrot cake was not too sweet, not too dry, like many of the other bakeries. I super appreciated the ease of ordering and how amazing my cake looked on our wedding day. I highly recommend Montclair Bakery!

Cheryl at Montclair Bakery has done special birthday cakes. For my Mother's 75th birthday she did elaborate icing mimicking the basket weaving that Mother did. It was spectacular and delicious! Our favorite event was our wedding where she did an amazing theme for us of Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers. Her skill is amazing and of course it tasted wonderful! If you want someone who is first class and appreciates the detail you need to go to Cheryl!

I love this place so it was not a hard decision when we were looking for a bakery to do our wedding cake. We didn't have a good idea of what we wanted so the sample books they had to look at were helpful. Cheryl was easy to work with when it came to placing the order and even asked for a sample of a specific color so they could make sure it matched. The cake was delivered right on time and the staff did a great job getting it placed. The price is reasonable for a wedding cake, especially for the quality. It was delicious and absolutely beautiful! Thank you Cheryl and Staff!

Since the time we started planning our wedding I definitely wanted to have red velvet wedding cake.
We have checked out several places before we went to MontClair Bakery and didn't like any red velvet cakes - dry, not very tasty.
As soon as we walked in Montclair Bakery we were presented 16 choices of different cakes and all of them were abolutely delicious. The red velvet cake was heavenly mighty tasty - it was moist, had very tasty cream cheese filling and was hand down one of the best red velvet cakes I have ever had. The chef in charge of our cake was a professional, non-nonsense lady, she definitely knew what she was doing, sketched my vision of the cake in a matter of seconds and both my fiance and me felt at ease. We knew that this was the place for our wedding cake.
On the day of the wedding, it was delivered on time and was waiting for us at the reception after the ceremony. It was beautifully done and tasted just like we remembered.

I loved the cake from Montclair. We ordered two flavors and had buttercream instead of fondant. I was getting compliments about the flavor all evening - I'm still getting compliments about the flavor. Cheryl designed the outside with grape bunches to emulate the winery theme from our wedding. And the colors matched perfectly with everything else. We opted to use the top tier instead of saving it (lack of space in our freezer), but we will be returning for our 1-year anniversary to order another cake.

The cake was beautiful, delicious, and looked exactly as I ordered it. Montclair baking was on time with our tasting appointment, and the process of choosing was made easy by the organization and professionalism of Cheryl. I felt the cake was competitively priced and worth every penny. It not only tasted good but I have the most beautiful photos to remember it by. We did a "scottish themed" wedding and the cake was done per my request with tartan ribbon embellishments. It was nice that Cheryl was easy about giving it that extra "scottish" touch! I'm so impressed by Montclair Baking Co. that I am going to get my husband's next birthday cake there!

Cheryl made the most amazing cake! It cost $320 which seemed like a lot to us but in the end it was worth it, it tasted phenomenal and looked like a masterpiece.

Cheryl Lew is the chef at the Bakery. The cakes she makes are amazing. She is a matter-of-fact kind of woman, no nonsense. Given how brides can be, this is probably best. So if you are looking for a fluffy, "you are the bride" kind of service, go elsewhere. I would not have picked another cake however. It was beautiful and tasty. I have never been to a wedding where cake runs out... we did! We had red velvet and carrot cake. I loved both. My husband doesn't even like cake and he really liked it. It was expensive. So for bargain shoppers go elsewhere, but you can't put a price on the quality of cake we got.

We wanted an unusual wedding cake (Loud! Mardi Gras Theme!) and Cheryl at Montclair gave us a beautiful one. It tasted great, too! She was great, and gave us the names of of a lot of different other vendors in our price range.
Thank you Cheryl!
