We recently worked with Willard to design our wedding cake, both inside and out. We went in having one flavor in mind and then found out that the possibilities at Miel were endless!! We created our own flavor to represent our taste, originality, and to reflect the season (October wedding - apples, caramel mouse, and praline filling). Willard also come up with a design for the outside of our cake using our invitation and some things we liked (and didn't like!) here and there from other cakes we had seen. It came out perfect! The flowers they added on top were a bonus for me; I had never imagined getting a cake with flowers on top and it looked great! He even went to our venue to make sure the cake design he had in mind would work well in the room we were using for the reception. The cake looked great and tasted even better!

Our cake tasted GREAT. We had two flavors: devil's food with white chocolate icing, and white cake with lemon curd. Both were delicious and surprisingly moist. However, despite providing the bakery with instructions and color swatches, the cake didn't come out looking as I'd asked. The color of the icing was too intense (a SHOCKING yellow) and the baker's, despite photos in the bakery of cakes with sugar paste flowers, claimed that they couldn't do them. They wouldn't even offer guidance to my florist, who was pressed with bringing in fresh flowers--but didn't know how they were to go on.
