Our Story
The legacy of Merry Acres began in 1935, when Dr. Russell L. Grace Sr. transformed a 500-acre estate into a peaceful refuge inspired by his wife’s dream of a beautifully landscaped haven. TALK ABOUT A LOVE STORY! That dream lived on when their daughter Jean and son-in-law G.G. “Spec” Dozier opened Albany’s first motel on the grounds—giving rise to what we now know as Merry Acres Inn.
