Look no further - you have found your perfect venue. From start to finish, working with McDowall Acres was the highlight of our wedding. To start, the views are breathtaking. Saying our vows with the view of the mountains behind us was like something out of a story book. You overlook a picturesque horse pasture, then a beautiful pond, and end with the blue ridge mountains right behind you. I could not ask for more. Then you have the venue itself. The transformed barn was perfect for our reception - classy yet country. It gave plenty of room for all of our guests to be comfortable, yet fit in perfectly with the beautiful surroundings. The venue is set back on the farm, away from any road noise or outside distractions, so it truly felt like we were in a world of our own that day. Dancing the night away, surrounded by our friends, with the moon shining on the mountains - a moment I will never forget.

The best part though of the whole experience was working with the owners, Elizabeth and Lucy. These sisters helped us every step of the way and made us feel like family. They helped me envision my perfect wedding day vision and were quick to offer the decorations they had on hand. They recommended great vendors (loved that they had a list of ones they recommended, but we were free to use whoever we wanted). Plus the day-of-facility (the cutest little barn house by yet another pond) made getting ready such a fun experience.

Overall, I cannot say enough good things about this venue. Have recommended it to many friends already!

This place was like working with family! Such an amazing place to have your wedding the possibilities are endless! This was the first place we toured and this family welcomes you with open arms and not only makes you feel at home but also helps with whatever is needed from venders to helping with coordinating and filling in if need be!! McDowall made my wedding just perfect! They were a pleasure to work with, very helpful with vendors and just really made us feel comfortable and at ease with the whole process! We made plans for an outdoor ceremony and struggled with the rain the day of! I never felt uncomfortable or not important!

We had the pleasure of having our wedding hosted by McDowall Acres and everything was phenomenal! I fell in love with the venue and knew it was the one the moment my maid of honor and I stepped out of our car the first time we checked it out. There was no hesitation! Elizabeth, Lucy and the whole team went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and everything went as smoothly as it could. They are so kind hearted and welcoming! I would recommend anyone to have their wedding with them. Thank you all so much for the wonderful memories!

Absolutely amazing venue and vendors!
We booked them in December 2019, and we knew right away this was the perfect vendor for us! Jim and Elizabeth were so kind, warm, and welcoming! They really helped us through the covid lock down and happily soothed my frayed nerves during the whole process. Day of rehearsal came and they were very hands on and helped us with the optics of the barn to make sure that it was picture perfect. We had a crazy wedding day with a bridesmaid running late and am accident on the highway leading to many of our guests getting delayed.
I cannot thank them enough for being so phenomenal and kind. My husband and I joked that it's almost a shame that we can only get married once, otherwise we'd pick them every time!

We held our wedding at McDowall Acres the last week of October 2019 and it was breathtaking!! There are so many beautiful sights to hold the ceremony. Everywhere you look, your breath would be taken away due to the natural beauty that is there! Then you go into the barn and it feels like a fairytale! Just when you think the views are amazing, the owners are even better!!! Elizabeth is one of the most genuine and kind people you will ever cross paths with. She made planning a wedding out of state easy and breezy! She helped me to not stress the day of the wedding and made sure everything was perfect. I cannot stress enough how wonderful our experience was at McDowall Acres. Thank you for making my dreams come true!!!!

I cannot sing the praises of Lucy and Elizabeth (and the whole family) enough!! They were there every step of the way making sure my wedding was everything I could dream of! They went above and beyond! McDowell Acres is the most beautiful place to get married and celebrate with your close friends and family! I wish words were sufficient to thank the whole family for sharing their farm with us and making the day so amazing. Not only did I get a husband on 9/21/19 but I also gained some pretty amazing friends from McDowell Acres! ❤🥰

The day was meant to be magical and wonderful and all the things dreams are made of, and IT WAS!! The professionalism and "can do" attitude of the McDowall Acres staff was top notch. They were extremely supportive and said on more than on occasion when we were trying to make decisions about the decor, "let's do our best to create the bride's vision", and they set out to do just that. They were hard working, and were problem solvers! When the caterer forgot to send serving spoons with the buffet meal, Elizabeth disappeared for a few minutes and then voila! magically appeared with a half dozen serving spoons. There were several little bumps in the road that were barely noticeable because of their good help. Even down to not having enough greenery to add the the backs of the chairs - Lucy hopped on the golf cart and went foraging around the farm and brought back the perfect greenery solution. You just can't go wrong when you have a team like that making your special day happen!

These people are wonderful and the place is absolutely gorgeous. We had so much fun and Elizabeth and Mary and the rest were so helpful we are already planing on having our vowel renewal there. You won't find a better place or team for your big day!

What an amazing experience at McDowall Acres! Weather forced us to find an indoor space for a wedding just a few days before the event. Elizabeth and Lucy could not have been any more helpful. A quick walk-through the day before the wedding and we had a plan! They were agreeable to all of our wishes and even had their own special touches that put the cherry on top! The barn looked wonderful and the views were stunning. As pretty and functional as the facility is, I cannot say enough good things about Elizabeth and Lucy and their families. They pitched in with wonderful attitudes and made sure everything was perfect! I have worked with many different venues and can say that this was by far the best experience. McDowall Acres truly wants each event to be special.
