The Perfect Wedding: This is the ideal location for a spectacular wedding with rooms for the bridal party and groomsmen to prepare for a magnificent ceremony followed by an elegant reception. There are dual fireplaces in the grand ballroom which features a beautiful open staircase that allows for a breathtaking entrance for the bride. The history in this residence is very memorable for many citizens and will be for years to come. This home is so unique, that when you choose it as your venue, it will become a part of a very special memory in your life.
House Characteristics: The Mackay Estate was built by Alexander Mackay, a Scottish entrepreneur and investor who bought the property on Lake Rochelle in 1915 and began construction of the Mackay family estate which he called "La Rochelle." The estate's 8,000-square-foot residence is an outstanding example of Craftsman style architecture, with sleeping porches and large porch columns, open interior spaces and a staircase in the main room. A walled arbor with arched openings is located west of the residence and a sunken garden with a fountain is on the east. A beautiful Gazebo has been added with a breathtaking view of the lake. The home has undergone only minor alterations over the years, and is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Our future plans call for part of the building to house the Lake Alfred Historical Society meeting room and museum.
Grant Funds: Restoration and Preservation: Mackay Gardens and Lakeside Preserve was purchased in 2004 with funds from the Florida Community Trust Florida Forever program. Additionally, the City of Lake Alfred received grant funding in 2006 from the Florida Bureau of Historic Preservation to renovate the house. This allowed for the complete overhaul of the electrical system, plumbing, re-roofing, handicap accessibility, resurfacing of the hardwood floors and plaster repair. The city also received a grant from the Florida Recreational Development Assistance Program to add a playground, picnic pavilion, rest rooms, fishing pier and nature trails.
The Mackay home is available for business meetings, corporate retreats, family reunions and parties. Please call (863) 291-5272 to make an appointment to see this incredible location.

I found this venue through two coworkers who also got married here. They loved it and so did I. The contact Analeia was always prompt with emails when I had questions and was more than helpful. This location is absolutely gorgeous even when it rains. We got married in August so that's hot but the lake creates a breeze and the rain cools off. I will say be prepared for mosquitos but that is normal for Florida :) also the building on site is great and accommodating with faulty weather. Lovely location and I highly recommend others to use :)

What a gorgeous venue. My wedding was picturesque, and this beautiful venue was a major reason for it. I had a 1950's themed wedding, so it was really hard to find a venue that went with the theme. Once I stumbled across this place, I knew it was the one, since it had a vintage feel, but was a blank canvas to do whatever you want. We had our ceremony under the brick archway, cake cutting inside the estate, and the reception under a lighted tent. Be careful of bugs at night! Be sure to bring lots of bug spray to keep them away, if you're having the reception outside. All in all, it is a great venue, and I'm so glad our wedding was there.
