Lori did an amazing job and our food was delicious, our guest loved the Smor Bar and smoked pizza's.

I used Lori for my daughters wedding in October. After our initial meeting and choosing our menu, it was hard to get ahold of Lori as suggested in the reviews, although she did return my phone calls. I think you just have to be patient knowing she has other weddings and events that were coming up. About a month before the wedding the menu cost was higher than I wanted, Lori sat down with me and we adjusted the menu (still really close to what we wanted) to fit better in our price range. We also had several food allergies that Lori had to accommodate. She went above and beyond in my expectations with the food allergies. Lori and her staff made sure the allergy friendly food was separate from the regular food and made sure the groom and other guests with allergies were fed both during cocktail hour and the dinner.
I can honestly say it was worth every penny. Lori's staff was very accommodating, friendly and professional.
I had rave reviews from many guests, telling me how delicious the food was and how much they loved the "Utah's own theme".
We had smoked pizza's for cocktail hour and fruit kabobs. The smokers were a lot of fun and the mini pizzas a huge hit.
We also had Lori supply mini bundt cakes for our dessert and the wedding cake was a 2 tiered bundt cake. The groom had a dairy allergy and she made a special cake to accommodate him. He loved it!!!
Final advice if you choose Lori for you catering service, be patient SHE IS WORTH IT!!

Lori Tolbert Catering was recommended by my wedding venue. She was very familiar with the venue and the presentation and actual dinner service was very nice. However, Lori was very, very difficult to get a hold of throughout the whole planning process. We never got the tasting that she promised us. She also never got a final invoice to us to review until 4 days before the wedding, despite our many requests for that invoice. At the last minute she raised the price per person and would not lower it back down to our original agreed upon amount despite my showing her her previous quotes. There were also several other major errors in her "final" invoice. It was a very stressful situation, not something that you want to have deal with days before your wedding. Had we had an opportunity to review final costs before hand there were several changes we would have made, but unfortunately she placed us in a situation where that was not possible and we couldn't change caterers at the last minute. If you do decide to use Lori be prepared to consistently nag her and make sure that she understands exactly what you want and insist on getting a final invoice well in advance of your wedding date. She will also tell you that she doesn't care if you decide not to use her sister as your day of event planner, however, it did feel like it mattered to both Lori and her sister that we had already chosen a day of event planner.

Lori Tolbert Catering ended up being great on the day of the wedding, with really good food, but at twice the price that she originally quoted. As with the other review on this page, it was completely impossible to get ahold of Lori for any questions, or menus, or changes, or really anything - after the initial deposit was made. Then, with a strong arm tactic, after begging for months to get the price and final menu (literally calling once a week with no answer/reply) she gets us our final quote 3 weeks before our wedding day, at nearly twice the price as what she originally quoted us. ($27 per person went to $46 per person). With absolutely no other option in the state of Utah three weeks before the June wedding, we were forced to come up with $2k (magically out of somewhere, which ended up being our honeymoon funds) three weeks before the day.

When trying to negotiate that amount, and get clarifications on why it was nearly 2x more, I called 5 times leaving messages and got absolutely no response. I was only able to get her to respond after she asked for even more money (the only thing I heard after my several phone calls) and pointedly replied absolutely not (she tried to act as if she had never had anyone upset with her before, and that this never happens, but with the review below I knew that wasn't the case).

If you're looking here, do yourself a favor, and book with someone who is professional and will actually get you an accurate quote and not double the amount just before your wedding day. The food was good, but not worth the incredible hassle of dealing with someone who clearly doesn't care about professionalism.

Lori was super charming & we easily came up with a menu for our lunch & reception that was perfect for us & that she promised was in our price range. I felt very confident in her after that first meeting. However, as a few of the other users have mentioned, she was impossible to get in touch with. Week after week I tried to get in touch with her to confirm the final menu & talk about tables. I heard nothing back until 2 days before my wedding. We confirmed the menu, price, & table situation & I finally was able to sleep at night.

Come wedding day, her team comes to set up & they start to take away some of my tables. I ask them what's going on as I specifically told Lori I needed her to bring her own serving tables. Her team was super nice about it and made sure to find two different serving tables for themselves. As our group of 48 guests showed up for our lunch, the meal was prepared but I noticed several of the details she promised to us were missing (these details were why I picked her over my other catering option in the first place). It took over 45 minutes to serve all our guests one portion & there wasn't enough for everyone to receive seconds (I originally told her we'd have 60 people there, but 12 ended up not making it due to weather. She "guaranteed" enough food for all 60 guests to have 2 helpings). The menu options provided for the lunch were also not what Lori & I agreed upon.

We had over 300 guests attend the reception that night & fortunately there was more than enough food; & the food that was there was incredibly delicious! However, again several of the menu options & decorative details Lori had promised only days before were not there. Her team was extremely kind & accommodating, but it didn't make up for the disappointment I felt.

I wasn't going to write a review but after finding out she is charging us MORE THAN DOUBLE her original quote (after all the major problems with her service), I had to let the internet know: do not pick Lori!

We met with Lori 3 months before our event. She took one month to put pricing together. It came up $3000 more than I told her what our budget was. I took off the desserts and never heard from her for a couple of days. We were leaving town for 2 weeks so I was persistent that we get a final cost. She got back to me and I sent her a $500 deposit to hold our spot. We left town and I didn’t respond to emails because she knew we were out of the country. When we got back just one month before our event, I contacted her to meet me at the venue to decide on set up. It took one day to tell me she sent our deposit back because I didn’t respond to her while we were out of the country. She only sent half of the deposit back. She is a terrible communicator and she was horrible to work with. I don’t recommend her business at all. She is way over priced and because I took the desserts off our plan she wouldn’t get as much money so she dropped us and never would communicate with me again. I had to scramble to find another caterer and it has been so smooth with great communication and service within our budget.
