Billy was great! I hired him to make my mother of the bride dress. I brought him a picture and he made a sketch of exactly what I wanted. We had some trouble getting the dress to fit through the bust but he was happy to remake the entire bodice to make it work. I got so many compliments on my dress at the wedding. Very easy to work with too. He never got stressed when we closed in on the deadline! His prices were very reasonable and included the fabric and all of the fittings.

I thought I would buy a wedding dress off the rack, but after looking and looking, I found very few designs that I even liked, let alone in my limited price range. So I asked my friends for custom dressmaker recommendations. One friend recommended Billy Lochridge, who had made her mother's second wedding dress and (I think) bridesmaid dresses for a wedding my friend was in.

Billy works (as of 2011 at least) out of the upstairs loft of his house, with exterior stairs that go up to it, so look for that if you go have a consultation with him. He was very friendly and upbeat. I showed him my inspiration picture and told him what my budget was, and he worked with me to select fabrics and design a beautiful dress that was just what I wanted. It took about six weeks for him have it ready for my first fitting, and then another 2-3 weeks I think before it was totally ready. I think that was a little quicker than he wanted, so make sure you go early in your planning process, if you want a custom dress. He does a lot of work--bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, etc. as well as wedding gowns.

The quality of work was very good.

I bought a MOB dress for my daughters wedding, and without really thinking about it at the time, but I decided that I needed some type of cover on my arms. So I ordered matching fabric from the dress designer that made my dress. After a friend recommend Billy I went for a consultation. Billy sketched a bolero and took my measurements. In just a day or two Billy called and my bolero was complete. After seeing it, and it was beautiful, but I decided to make some changes, which he and Sallie did without complaint.

In a day or two I went back and again I wanted to change things on the bolero, not that it wasn't beautiful, but I wanted to try something different.
Keep in mind that I originally only bought 1 yard of fabric. and at my request we kept changing it to the point that there wasn't enough fabric left to make the changes that I wanted. Upset with myself, and with time was slipping away and it was too late to order more fabric because the wedding was in 3 days. Seeing my frustration, Billy and Sallie found my exact dress at a bridal shop, bought it with their own money, took it apart to get the fabric and designed the most beautiful bolero I could have ever imaged.
I will never forget their generosity. And I have found my designed for life.

I absolutely LOVED working with Billy! He was extremely accommidating to each of us. I wanted a specific dress from David's Bridal for my BM's but they were too tall for the dresses, and you can't special order those dresses, what you see is what you get. Billy was able to copy the dress and make them the perfect length. I even had a BM in Texas that he was able to work with (I'm in GA). He made a total of 6 BM dresses and 1 jr BM dress. He was very professional and had everything done on time for my ladies. I would recommend him to anyone! He was very sweet! Take a look at his work if you get a chance, he is very good!

Billy did alterations for my bridal gowns and my mother's dress and created my veil. If there was an option of 10 out of 10 stars for value for cost and quality of service, I would have put them. When Billy quoted me the price to alter 2 bridal gowns, I couldn't believe how affordable it was. His work on my dresses was flawless. His alterations to my dresses included putting in bustles, adding cups, pulling the dresses in, adding extra crinoline and hemming.

He is extremely responsive and flexible. He answered my voice mails within the hour when I didn't catch him in office. He also stayed open late to pin and measure our dresses for alterations when we missed our appointment.

I would recommend him to anyone who needs alterations or dresses made. I actually have already recommended him multiple times and those who have taken my suggestion have been extremely satisfied.

Billy Lockridge is the best in the business in my book! He has made several dresses and altered several more for me and my two girls. He also made bridesmaid dresses for my son's wedding last summer. Wow! Awesome!

Billy was absolutely wonderful to work with! I have recommended him to several different people and hope that they have also had the pleasure to deal with him. Not only are his dresses amazing, he is so nice and easy to get along with. Anyone that chooses to let him create dresses for you or take him a picture of something you want, he can do it! I recommend him and will hopefully have the opportunity to work with him again!

Billy Lochridge is the most wonderful thing to happen. My best friend found him for her bridesmaid dresses and then when I got married a year later I visited him for the same. He made each dress to fit (each person goes for a fitting, then when they get the dress he makes sure it is right and makes changes if necessary) for $150. Get this though - we're talking about a full length dress made of satin and then a second layer of a full circle of georgette over the satin for the skirt. He made them exactly how I wanted, which was combining three different dresses I tore out of magazines.

Then the clincher - my dress.

I am 5 feet tall. David's Bridal had a dress for $600 that was absolutely stunning but they quoted me at $250 just to shorten the dress. That was not including any alterations to the shoulders because I'm small, or the waist to make it actually fit me.

I went to Billy. My dress was satin, with a chiffon overlay, gathered at the waist and tehn cutting away at the bottom. There were wide chiffon straps, with beadwork scattered across the front. Billy made my dress to fit me exactly, the way I wanted, with a few alterations to what David's dress was and for $500.

He has done work for hundreds of people, people come from out of state to see him because he is that good. He is a ball of fun and a load of laughs and you will have to tell so many people about him that you'll have his number programmed into your cell!

We even got close to the wire on one dress - the girl had not been able to come in for a fitting so he had taken her measurements over the phone but the person doing them hadn't gotten them how he would have so the dress needed to be altered adn it was 2 days before my wedding. Billy was willing to overnight the dress to us for no cost.

He also has bolts and bolts of fabric from previous weddings, so sometimes he'll have the color and fabric you want and then he gives a discount on the fabric! If I had purchased my wedding dress it would have been at the bare minimum $850, instead it wsa $500. The bridesmaids would have been $250-$350 and they were only $150.

I can't talk higher of him!! He is an independent contractor and has several people who work for him doing things like beading. The one woman can create the most BEAUTIFUL bead designs! That does cost more, so if you want lots of beadwork of course your dress might cost more than mine. Mine was very simple, just a lot of fabric and gathering and a smattering of beadwork. He can do anything though - I've seen his dresses. He worked for some huge company at one time but they wanted generic dresses and he thought it was dumb so left. You can also take him a dress (in any size, color and fabric) and he can recreate it only you will SEE the 100% better quality in the stiching, zippers (he creates a TRUE hidden zipper like you've never seen), and hemming - perfection comes out of him. He does like 5 weddings at a time and with my best friend, he had half the dresses done by the time she got home 3 hours later! He's amazing!!

When I couldn't find a mother of the bride dress that worked for me a bridal shop in Athens gave me Billy's name and number. Billy listened to what I did and didn't want then sat down with a pencil and drew the perfect MOB dress for me. I loved it immediately but could not imagine it on my body. He then threw rolls of fabric on the floor, wrapped them around me and found the perfect color and material. He even offered to do a wrap to go with it. Three days later he called ready for a fitting. It fit perfectly and was fun to wear. It was a long dress with a hidden zipper that zipped off the bottom to make the dress knee length. The dress was fun and so was Billy. The reason for the 4.5 on professionalism is not because of quality of work - the dress was fully lined with beautiful seams, but instead because Billy is a hoot and it seems an insult to his personality to give him a 5 on professionalism.
