For as long as I can remember, I've enjoyed creating beautiful spaces. Whether decorating a room or accessorizing an outfit, I loved helping others cultivate and express a sense of style. Intuitively, I knew that aesthetics could impact happiness. I also liked engaging in projects that required an eye for detail.
Since I was in high school, my friends came to me for fashion advice. As I got older, my family and friends often asked me to plan parties and other special events.
When I graduated from high school, I decided I wanted to help others during the unhappiest of times. I majored in business and mortuary science. I became a licensed funeral director. As a funeral director for over a decade, I carefully planned each detail ensuring that services and memorials both honored and captured the essence of the deceased loved one. On numerous occasions, clients would ask me if I planned other types of events (e.g. parties or weddings). I was asked to plan a first birthday party for a friend and realized that it was time to transition to helping others during the happiest of times.
It was serendipitous that Linden Hall was hiring an event planner. My transition from funeral director to wedding coordinator was seamless. Due in large part to the fact that I grew up in Dawson. My parents grew up in Dawson. The mansion and pool were local landmarks. As children, my siblings and I swam in the pool, walked the grounds, and even gave holiday tours in the mansion. I was raised with sincere regard for the property and the vision of Sarah B. Cochran, the feisty coal baron's wife who designed and built Linden Hall. Sarah B. Cochran was a visionary. She was a poor local girl who married a coal baron, toured the world, and brought her love for art and philosophy here to Dawson. She was a philanthropist and eventually a respected businesswoman. Her passion for aesthetics is reflected in every gorgeous detail including the tree-lined entrances. How could I not love working here?
My philosophy is that each event should capture the essence of the couple and tell their story. Sarah B. Cochran left her mark on Linden Hall's exquisite grounds. We pride ourselves in offering a venue rich in history and uniqueness. While you are focusing on your vows, I vow to work tirelessly to support you by coordinating an event that reflects your uniqueness as a couple.
