We had an outdoor ceremony by the lake and the reception in the clubhouse. It was the most beautiful setting imaginable! The clubhouse is both rustic and elegant. Very unique and a view of the beautiful lake from any location. Both of my contacts through the process, Nancy and Carol, were outstanding. They were able to help us through anything that arose. I would definately recommend this venue to anyone looking for an elegant ceremony.

We were extremely pleased with every aspect of the venue. Our daughter and son-in-law held their ceremony next to the lake, underneath gorgeous shade trees (200 guests seated comfortably), and then held our reception inside the Clubhouse, a cocktail party on their stunning wrap-around porch and since we had the property from Friday-Sunday, we even held our rehearsal dinner on-site. It was spectacular in every way. A perfect serene and beautiful lake environment for the wedding, and a lovely rustic dining hall with indoor bar and living room. Sandy was a terrific contact and very accommodating and responsive. It is a secluded, gated community, so our rentals were safe outside overnight and we never had any security concerns. Highly recommend!

A beautiful, quaint venue right outside of Kansas City. Historic clubhouse and gorgeous lake views. We actually got married on the huge wrap-around porch of the clubhouse (due to rain)...but ended up with the most beautiful views of lake in background.

My husband and I were married here on Oct. 23, 2010. If you are planning a fall wedding with a rustic and elegant flair, this is THE place to get married in Kansas City!

Our ceremony was small, as the location right next to the Clubhouse for an outdoor wedding will only accomodate about 100 people, max.

And since the Clubhouse is on the National Register of Historic Places, you can't bring in real candles, which was sort of a bummer. But we were able to find nice votives to put in flamesless candles (and there are more candles that are wax but flameless that look quite nice).

The Clubhouse has been newly renovated, too (within the last few years), so it's very nice inside.

So excited to have our wedding ceremony and reception at Lake of the Forest in Bonner Springs, KS!! Sandy has been very helpful in meeting with us whenever we needed and even gave us recommendations on other vendors. Just outside the clubhouse there is a treed area that overlooks the lake, which is where we are planning on having our ceremony. I was also happy that we get the clubhouse from Friday-Sunday for one price, which was fantastic! I am beyond excited to have our wedding at beautiful Lake of the Forest!

I did not have a reception here, and here's why:
I live 40 minutes away and set up an appointment to tour. When we got there, it's was completely locked up and we had no response to our calls. Two days later I got a call from the lady who was supposed to be there, she was quite unapologetic and apathetic and only had interest in know ing whether I still wanted to rent the space. She was very unprofessional over the phone.

For the record, we peered in some of the windows when we were there. The outside is gorgeous but the inside is completely shabby. Save yourself a trip and look somewhere else where you'll have someone professional to work with and a beautiful place you will remember.
