My wedding planner Mira suggested that we use Graham Chappell as our wedding photographer. He was absolutely brilliant to work with up until the wedding. He responded to all of my emails immediately, was highly personable, made me feel at ease and gave me great advice. He was also great to work with during the wedding. These were my issues with him:
When we received the photos, we were not very happy with them. They looked far too touched up and in some there was an orange tint. We asked him if we could have the originals and he said he had not kept the original versions and that he didn't know what I was talking about. When I highlighted exactly what I meant, he was very accommodating but was unable to fix the problem. He tried, but then the opposite happened and the wedding photos looked like they had no sunset. So I certainly wouldn't say don't work with him, all I would say is the following:
1) Please ask him to retain the raw footage of the photographs until you have looked at the photos.
2) He'll also suggest that you pay the full amount upfront instead of a deposit and then the rest 30 days before. We did this, but when we wanted to make a slight adjustment and have a shorter time period, 2-3 months before the wedding, he was very resistant to provide any of the money back.
3) I understand that this is normal, but he took about 5,000 photos which took forever to review. You might ask him to compile the best 50, even if there is an extra cost to it.
Overall, he was a lovely person and has talent, but we were pretty disappointed that the photos looked so touched up and unreal.
