We hired Kirk Smart and his band for our ceremony and reception. We were really excited about it because we'd seen youtube videos of some of their gigs and they are clearly talented musicians. For our ceremony they played what we asked and all was fine. For our reception however, they completely and utterly failed to deliver on what we had agreed. For starters, we emailed them a list of the songs we wanted played during the dancing part of the evening, and asked if they were able to play them, and if not, to provide us a list of songs that they cover so we could make some selections. Kirk responded that they could play most of them and anything else they would just play off an iPod. We were fine with that.
At our reception however, they failed to play ANY of the songs we requested (except for the Father Daugther dance song) and played this horrible disco/funk music which was clearly not to our taste if he had even bothered to read the song list we sent. Further, when we told them that we didn't like the music and could they just stick to the songs on the list they started playing classic rock songs - also not on our list. At one point they just gave up (which was completely unprofessional) and just asked the whole room what songs to play - and then couldn't play any of them!
Needless to say I would NOT recommend this band - they may sound great for their gigs but they clearly did not prepare for our wedding and were a severe disappointment. What an waste of money.
I would have given them one or even no stars but they did deliver on our ceremony (which was only 30 minutes of the 6 hours we'd hired them for.)
