About
Kim Sing Theatre – a modern wedding venue, boasting its historic charm – is located minutes outside downtown Los Angeles, California. In the early 2000s, the former vaudeville house and movie theatre was artfully reimagined for private use until it was opened to the public in 2017. Now, the Kim Sing Theatre is the perfect location to host one of the most memorable days of your lives with its unique event space and treasured architectural features.
Facilities and Capacity:
Kim Sing Theatre can accommodate up to 250 wedding guests (cocktail style) or 130 wedding guests (formal seating) in its indoor and outdoor event spaces. During its renovation, the historic venue retained many of its original features, such as its bow truss ceilings and marquee. The area where the old theater was located has been transformed into a large, open courtyard with multiple doorways to the interior creating an easy indoor/outdoor flow - the ideal setting for an intimate outdoor wedding ceremony. The courtyard is half-covered allowing for protection from the elements while allowing picturesque natural lighting among the mature foliage. Kim Sing Theatre's interior features a modernized kitchen with 20' kitchen island, projector and screen, and indoor/outdoor speakers. The theatre also has 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms to comfortably allow for many intimate "getting ready" memories.
Services Offered:
Kim Sing Theatre is a boutique venue that is available for hosting wedding ceremonies, elopements, engagement parties, bridal showers, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and overnight stays. The venue offers a variety of event services which include: a bridal suite, a groom's suite, event cleanup and setup, on-site management, wireless Internet, 14 foot projector screen and projector, and 6 TVs. It features an open vendor policy allowing couples to choose their preferred catering, rentals, photographer, etc. The venue is also pet friendly and features an on-site hotel.
History:
Kim Sing Theatre has a rich history in one of Los Angeles’ most sought-after areas. In 1926, the venue opened as a vaudeville house and theatre, which was originally named ‘The Alpine Theatre.’ In the 1960s, the theatre was renamed the Kim Sing Theatre when it transitioned into a single film movie theatre where many locals enjoyed watching Kung Fu films. Willard Ford, Harrison Ford’s son, purchased the then unused Kim Sing Theatre in 1999, where he housed his own business, Flagship, for over a decade. After being opened to the public for nearly a year, the historic theatre is the perfect place to host your wedding day.
