About
Hi! I am Karen Campbell and I have been photographing weddings, events, and portraits in the DFW area for many years. I have photographed weddings of different faiths such as Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Hindu, and in various locations such as churches, hotels, event places, and outdoor locations. In most cases, I would be the primary photographer for your wedding. For weddings beyond 3-4 hours or with large guest lists and quick transition timelines (from the post-ceremony group portraits to the reception), I hire an assistant and/or a second photographer.
Capturing your memories with my creative eye and technical knowledge on your special day is enjoyable, however, making sure the couple and I have good communication before the wedding is important. Having a timeline of the wedding several weeks before the wedding is helpful so I can understand the pace of the day. For instance, the transition from post-ceremony portraits to taking the grand entrance of the bride and groom at the reception and first dance can happen so quickly that an assistant/second photographer is essential to cover those moments. Through the experience of the various paces of weddings and the unknown factor of the day, an assistant or second photographer is often a part of the budget for bigger and fast-paced weddings. That being said, some weddings are much smaller and shorter and not hiring another person works just fine. I usually consult with the couple before the wedding to find out all the details to help project into the future about the wedding day.
After the wedding, for still photography, I edit and put up high-resolution, optimized pictures on a web gallery where you can download photos and order prints if desired. The post-production for still photos includes editing, cropping, optimizing, enhancing color, exposure, and sometimes retouching photos to improve them. Albums and prints are possible which I outsource. I can arrange a custom package for you.
I also shoot videos, but, I usually concentrate on still photos for weddings. A dedicated videographer is important to take care of sound (microphones), lighting, and other technical details. One person can not be in two places at once handling it all professionally.
Please look at my photography samples here to see if you would like to hire me for your wedding, engagement, and bridal portraits. If you have questions, please call me or send me a message. We can go over your wedding photography needs and plans.
Thank you! Karen Campbell Photography. 214-215-8666 cell, Dallas, Texas-based
