Although I have been legally allowed to perform weddings since 1976, I only performed weddings for a few family members and friends until 2014, when same-gender marriages became legal in Oklahoma. As an openly gay minister, I would not perform weddings until I could perform them for all members of my congregation. (Two of the four women who sued to make such marriages legal were members of my church in Tulsa.) Since then I have officiated at over 200 weddings for couples regardless of gender or faith, with the only requirement being love.
