About

Jeremy Evans Thomas started as a travel photographer, excelling at unposed street and portrait photography. His award winning photographs have been seen online and in Philadelphia galleries since he moved to the city in 1998. When people started asking him to photograph their weddings, he couldn?t resist the opportunity. Since 2001 he has brought his unique vision to couples looking for a creative and spontaneous documentary approach to their weddings in Philadelphia and around the world. Jeremy proudly eschews standard wedding photography to provide cleints with timeless images that jump off the shelf - rather than gathering dust. He is a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). Always available for travel and destination weddings, he has photographed weddings across the US, in Costa Rica, London, and many other locations. Jeremy takes a personal approach to each and every couple; to learn more about his services and discuss your personal wedding needs, send him an email or give him a call: jeremyevansthomas (at) gmail (dot) com (610) 888 - 0710 http://www.lifeinblue.com

We embarked on the adventure that is finding a photographer for our wedding. We wanted to find someone who was an artist first and a photographer second. We were looking for a less traditional style. We wanted someone who captures the emotion of the moment and who is comfortable taking less posed shots and more natural shots. After seeing Jeremy's work, we knew he had the talent and skill set we were looking for.

We approached Jeremy with some challenges. We weren't your typical couple that lived in the Philadelphia area together. On the contrary, we were across the country from each other and required a large amount of flexibility to make this work. To make matters more difficult, our wedding was somewhat of a destination wedding in Lake George, NY (5 hours from Philadelphia). Rather than finding this as a hindrance, Jeremy looked forward to the challenges and opportunities that come with a new location. We tasked Jeremy with finding a local photographer to help get him acquainted with the area as well as an additional photographer at the wedding. Jeremy took all of our instructions in stride only asking the necessary questions. He always conducted himself in a professional manner, and his attention to detail and passion for photography made him an easy choice for us. Jeremy truly brings an artist's touch to the world of wedding photography.

We knew of Jeremy's photo journalism work, but were so excited to hear he did weddings. We are not the type of people who would look at ease posing and acting as if we sat for photos all the time, so his journalistic eye was perfect for our small family wedding. I would encourage anyone who wants a truly unique yet personal record of their wedding to contact him and set up a meeting. His photos bring back memories, because they capture moments. And isn't that what it's all about?

We truly enjoyed having Jeremy as our wedding photographer. He did a great job of interpreting our wants and needs and creating stunning images that were more than we had hoped for. He was really very responsive and available during our entire planning process, which set our minds at ease. Most importantly, we have hundreds of amazing memories of our wedding day beautifully captured by Jeremy. We couldn't recommend Jeremy more.

Jeremy was a fantastic photographer. We were going for a specific look for our photos and he was exactly what we were looking for. Throughout the planning process he was very responsive to emails regarding any photography or timing question I may have had. Most importantly, he was very pleasant to work with - it felt like he was more personally involved in the day rather than just showing up to do a job.

On the day of the wedding, he was wonderful. He could turn the most mundane backdrop into beautiful and interesting photos. He also managed to capture so many moments with not just us, but all our guests. You could truly see and remember what a great time everyone had. In addition, we got so many of the detail photos that were important to me after so many months of planning.

Overall, we were extremely pleased. We would recommend him ten times over and use him again for other occasions.

There were two things we cared most about our wedding: a great DJ to get the party started, and a great photographer to capture everything. I couldn't be happier we had the opportunity to work with Jeremy. Every time I flip through our wedding photos, it feels like I am re-living the day altogether. Many wedding photographers today claim to be 'photojournalists' but Jeremy is the real deal. Just flip through his travel portfolio, and you can see his true love of photography and his ability capture the unique. My guests called him the "ninja photographer" because he was so unobtrusive, its very easy to relax around the camera with him.
Also, Jeremy doesn't have set 'packages' he forces you into buying, he was very flexible. If photojournalism is your style, you won't regret working with Jeremy. I hope I get the opportunity to hire him again soon!

My wedding planner, Christina Hill of cHill Weddings, referred me to Jeremy. I knew I wanted a photojournalist photographer with an edge -- I wanted someone to capture the day, but in unexpected ways. Jeremy fit this description to a T. He's both a wedding and travel photographer, so he's got a wonderful eye for fun locations, great lighting, and unusual textures. His best quality, however, is his ability to capture his subject's emotions. His pictures are so expressive, and he captured every single high and low of the day (in a good way!). Kate was Jeremy's second shooter, and she fit Jeremy's style really well. She captured many of the pictures that we really love, including many of the details. Both photographers were able to capture so many facial expressions/moments of which we were never aware. We all were so pleased with every single one of the (many) photos we received.

We received about 1200 beautiful high-res images on a few DVDs about 10 weeks after the wedding. Throughout the planning process, Jeremy was easy to reach by either phone or email, and he was very willing to work with my very anal tendencies (ie, revising the contract, making sure that we okay-ed the pictures before he or Kate used them in any way). Both photographers were extremely unobtrusive (the phrase "ninja photographer" comes to mind). They were fun to be around and were a calming (yet assertive) presence. Jeremy and Kate knew that details were my priority and that formals were not; we received a TON of detail shots and Jeremy breezed through the formals in under 10 minutes. When things didn't go as planned (things that weren't even photography-related!), Jeremy handled things smoothly and professionally. It was really refreshing.

The only (small) downside was that his wide-angle lens broke during the hora, so we didn't get any crowd shots after that point. However, Jeremy offered to post-process some of our guests' photos to round out our photos, which was a great solution for everyone. In the grand scheme of things though, this was so small and was easily rectified.

We were so pleased with both Jeremy and Kate's work, and I'd be happy to work with either one of them again! (Though baby pictures won't be for a while!)

I love working with Jeremy. He was one of the first photographers I met when I first started my business, and he's still a solid friend and colleague today. He's very personable and great at taking those unexpected shots at a wedding. He's just your typical wedding photographer. I trust him so much, my family loves to work with him for our holiday cards. If you're looking for wedding photos that will stand out more like art work than just a boring photograph, Jeremy is the perfect person to turn to!
