About

On WeddingWire since 2018

Cantor Marc Bachrach is an interfaith cantor in Southern California. Couples hire Cantor Marc to brighten their wedding ceremonies with his unique blend of warmth, spiritual "gravitas", and light-hearted humor. Rich, bass-baritone singing and chanting, accompanied by guitar and mandolin, are unique additions many couples choose Cantor Marc to provide, especially during the processional. "Every couple, every family and group of friends is unique." Cantor Marc loves connecting with them and crafting a joyous celebration of marriage -- an intimate sacred space filled with love, gratitude, and heartfelt emotions.

Services Offered

Cantor Marc makes sure everyone understands all the ritual elements and language that he's helped the couple pick for their nuptials. Each person there is made to feel welcome and included -- in some ceremonies, they join Cantor Marc by singing simple phrases. Some wedding parties even join him during the closing benediction, raising their hands together in the ancient Rabbinical Blessing, now universally known as The Vulcan Salute- "Live Long and Prosper!"

For 40 years, Cantor Marc has officiated in Southern California synagogues and at private ceremonies from Kauai to New York. He has served as the spiritual leader of Makom Ohr Shalom, an Encino synagogue.

Cantor Marc has co-officiated interfaith ceremonies with priests, ministers, Buddhist monks, and kahuna shamans!

His 8 years as the host and producer of his own Los Angeles afternoon radio talk shows, and his ongoing voice-over work in recording studios are the reason he smiles appreciatively when wedding guests thank him after the ceremony, exclaiming "You Should Be on the RADIO with that Voice!"

Cantor Marc's secular performing careers as a Comedy Hypnotist and a Musical Entertainer in venues all over the world, along with his private practice in hypnotherapy, have more than prepared him to deal calmly and creatively with any "surprise" at a wedding ... from the smallest glitch or gust of wind, to (G-d Forbid!) life-threatening emergencies.

    Excellent Choice!

Working with Cantor Marc was one of the best decisions we made in regards to our wedding. We are an interfaith couple but it was important to have an authentic ceremony. He went above and beyond to really get to know us and help us decide what aspects to include or leave out of the ceremony. His voice is incredible and the musicality of the event made it not only unique but that much more spiritual. We elected to have him perform our ketubah signing ceremony the night before the wedding and that was a highlight as well. He had everyone engaged and entertained as well as educated if they weren’t familiar with Jewish traditions. He retold our love story to our family and friends, and even I myself learned facts about how my husband and I came to be together that I didn’t know or had forgotten! He gifted us with DIY Human cards that we’ve already opened and started to use. And we just know he’s not like the other vendors who we may never speak to again. We had a Zoom when we were getting started and his partner hopped on for a moment and told us we were in for the best ceremony, and she wasn’t exaggerating! We are so grateful to Cantor Marc for all the time and effort he put in to make our day special.

    Interfaith Cantor Marc Bachrach's reply:

Kiki, where do I begin to thank you for the sheer pleasure of leading your ceremonies and celebrating your marriage to Stas with your family and friends?
First, the depth and breadth of your love and affection for each other is breathtaking and inspiring... and filled with laughter, too!
Then there are all the brilliant choices you made in producing a joyous and memorable event.... A Giant Chuppah in the Mural Room of the Santa Barbara Courthouse, covered with flowers, provided by Sherry Burkowitz of Backdrop Boutique SB, who provided the Chuppah for my own daughter's Santa Barbara wedding and referred you to me as a result of attending that ceremony!....
The entire vendor team... starting with your planner of Sara Matteson of Wunderland Co, such a calming presence, so easy to collaborate with... Chef Randi Soos, who created such a delicious and unique meal for the wedding rehearsal dinner and Ketubah Signing Ceremony... Your photographer, Aysia Lanae of South of June, and Daniel Dalanian and his 3 camera + drone video crew.
The entire BTS was flawless, as if we had all worked together dozens of times instead of assembling for the very first.
Fuzzbee Morse, my guitarist and flute player, played exquisitely as he always does (with his friends like Sting, Pink, and Bono) ... the acoustics in the Mural Room were magical!
The poem your friend Eitan read -- written by the Poet of West Hollywood just for you and Stas! ... and the most important piece of the ceremony, your vows.... so very moving, and heartfelt!
If I didn't know you are an attorney, I would have guessed you are a terrific event planner, Kiki!
So Mazel Tov to you and Stas, and congratulations again on producing a beautiful wedding for yourselves, your family, and friends!

    Greatest Rabbi on the planet!!

Rabbi Marc was the most charismatic charming witty and entertaining Rabbi I've ever seen. He made our wedding so special and had our guests enthralled. He took the time to get to know us and personalized our ketubah signing and our wedding ceremony. He was very original and the ceremony was a hit. All the guests loved our ceremony and even asked for his information for their upcoming weddings. He was by far the best Rabbi we've ever seen. So stop looking at reviews for the best Rabbi and book him now before he is taken. You won't regret it I promise you!!! Thanks Rabbi Marc

    Thank You, Cantor Marc!!!

Where do we begin? My husband is Jewish, I’m not, and neither of us are particularly religious. We were looking for an officiant who could help us incorporate Jewish traditions into our ceremony, but also give us free reign to tweak and customize to our heart’s content. Cantor Marc was all of that, and more.

In our planning meetings with him, Cantor Marc went above and beyond. He walked us through each element of the ceremony, let us pick and choose what – and how – we wanted those elements to show up, didn’t fire us when we waited until the last minute to get our Ketubah and wedding license, and was genuinely just a pleasure to work with. We felt like we’d known him forever before our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

During our ketubah ceremony at our rehearsal dinner, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. He surprised us with some additions to our ketubah vows that were so special and intimate, and even came to the entire rehearsal itself to make sure we both fully knew what to expect.

As for the ceremony itself, there are simply no words. I could go on and on, but I’ll leave it at two pieces of feedback from our guests: First, I’ve never been to a wedding where guests complimented the ceremony, but even months later, our family and friends are constantly talking about how wonderful Cantor Marc and our ceremony were. Our most macho manly guy friend was sobbing in the back row. And second, my father – traditional, conservative Southern guy – walked up to Cantor Marc after the ceremony and said “Man, maybe I should convert!”

We were absolutely honored to have Cantor Marc stay for our entire reception. When we woke up the morning after the wedding, we were treated to an entire Google Photo Album not just of the rehearsal dinner and Ketubah signing, but of hundreds and HUNDREDS of behind the scenes photos from our wedding – everything from family portraits to our special dances and the cake cutting. Having those photos to tide us over until the professional ones were in was so special and touching and truly above and beyond anything we could have expected.

I really can’t thank Cantor Marc enough. We both get a little weepy when we think about how special, loving and supportive he was from start to finish. We would recommend Cantor Marc to anyone and everyone, from the bottom of our hearts.

    Interfaith Cantor Marc Bachrach's reply:

Now you've got ME weepy, Jenn!
Reliving all those wonderful moments with you and Aaron.... from our first Zoom meeting -- to the beautiful Ketubah Signing at the rehearsal dinner at Julio's -- to the last fun photo booth poses at your Maravilla Gardens reception!
Thank YOU, for inviting me to join you and your families and conduct your ceremonies!
What joy! What a wonderful journey to your Chuppah , and beyond!
