About

An Elegant Maui Setting!

Set against the stunning backdrop of Haleakala, the 25-acre grounds of this Upcountry estate include two of Maui’s largest Cook Island pine trees (should be Norfolk), the historic remains of one of Maui’s earliest sugar mills, native Hawaiian flora plus jacaranda, palm and avocado trees, and extraordinary views of the West Maui Mountains and Maui’s North Shore.

The historic Mediterranean-style home was designed in 1917 by famous Honolulu architect, C.W. Dickey, for Harry Baldwin and his wife Ethel, founder of Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center. The home offers a selection of spaces wrapped in dramatic architectural features that create a fresh, sophisticated and unforgettable setting for your next event.

The Hui has been a gathering place for some of the greatest artistic minds contributing to Maui arts and culture.

Dream Wedding Experience with Chelsea at Hui No'eau

We had the pleasure of working with Chelsea, the event coordinator at Hui No'eau, for our wedding, and we couldn’t be more satisfied with the experience. The venue itself was absolutely stunning—everything I had ever dreamed of for our special day. Chelsea was fantastic—she was easy to talk to, always available to answer all of my questions, and even offered some great advice that I truly appreciated. Her support made the whole process smooth and enjoyable.

Hui No'eau is an incredible place to celebrate your special day, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a stunning venue with outstanding service.

A very happy wedding client

I am a wedding planner and my clients chose The Hui for their colorful Tiki themed wedding. The management was extremely professional and responsive, and the property is just beautifully kept. My clients were so happy throughout the wedding planning as well as at the end of their wedding day. The Architecture of the building as well as the trees and plants make this a picturesque location for any special event. Would recommend to any local or destination client. Mahalo to Chelsea and her staff.

It was a great experience for our employees that attended our annual company picnic. The location was beautiful and cool and very relaxing. We had a great time and look forward to having another event there in the future.

The Hui is a stunningly gorgeous iconic Maui landmark. Having our event there meant that we did not need to think about decorations as the building and Art Gallery are already beautifully decorated. Parking is plentiful and it is central to the island. The staff are very courteous and helpful. I could not have been happier with our corporate party and plan to make it an annual tradition. The feedback I have received from all of our guests was rave reviews, it is a venue that makes it look like you spent a million dollars but is actually quite affordable.

Keri at the Hui was great to work with. She gave us a full tour and kept us in the loop with goings on at the site. The price was right for us and we were able to allow our guests to explore the art gallery. I really think this is one of the best options on Maui, and currently one of the cheapest.
The Hui is a beautiful and special location, they give you a ceremony site down by an old mill, a reception site by the house, access to the kitchen, bathrooms (with torches lighting the way to the,) and for a little extra a bridal cottage, garbage hauling.

I held my reception at the beautiful Hui No'eau, after changing my venue from another, very overrated place on Maui, one month before my wedding. It was the best decision of my life as the Hui No'eau helped to make it the most amazing day for us and our guests. The property is breathtaking; the staff responsive and professional; and they were helpful at all times. It is also a great place because it supports the arts! If I could hold another event, I would definitely return to the Hui No'eau!

The Hui No'eau was an amazing place to hold our wedding! The grounds were beautiful, staff was helpful and great to work with and building is fabulous! I loved having our ceremony on the front lawn and guests walking to the solarium for cocktail hour and reception while we headed down to the ruins for photos. Parking was never an isue for our guests and everyone loved having the gallery open during the event. We are fortunate to live a few minutes from venue which made it easy planning and staff was always nice when we dropped by before the event. I loved the sunset view from reflecting pool and openness of solarium . My cousins favorite part of the wedding was the "tuxedo cat"- the resident cat had a tux outfit on for the party! It was a fun and special event and I highly recommend The Hui No'eau!

We had originally contacted the Hui'No Eau for booking their facility for our wedding reception. A few months into the wedding planning some management changed and then the property allowance turned on us. Instead of having full access to the facility, we were limited only to the front lawn and celerium. They made us haul away our own trash, and use a generator for our power source. There were other "requirements" the day before the wedding that they told us about, but we had to argue for what we initially agreed. It was a beautiful location, but overpriced for just the grass lawn.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.

Well I guess you have to give credit where credit is due............................................. I owe much GRATITUDE to the Hui No'eau for David Ulrich's B&W photography class. At that point some 15 years ago I jumped straight into processing & printing my own B&W work. It was this experience that I really "Got it" & changed from taking snapshots to real images with meaning. David Ulrich the instructor of the course pushed all of his students to learn & explore the boundaries. Actually I had taken many of his classes & have to say that it was the foundation to the work I am doing to this day! Used to LOVE, LOVE, Love going to the darkroom to process my latest B&W rolls to see what I had created! Of course in those days we just put our fingers & hands directly in the nasty chemicals. Now that it is all digital I don't have to do that any more. Thank goodness! Still to this day I will drive by the Hui thinking of my early beginnings in the basement darkroom! Many Mahalos Hui No'eau!
