A Fairy Tale Wedding
When my husband and I began planning our wedding (I'm Puerto Rican and he's American Jewish) I showed him several locations in Puerto Rico where we could do our wedding. He rejected them all saying "this is not where our dream wedding will be, I don't see it happening there". Then I showed him El Convento. He's eyes grew big and he said "This is it! This is the place! Our dream wedding will be here" and he was not far from the truth. In order to tell you about our experience at El Convento I'm going to be detailed as I can be because this was the best decision we made.Sent on 02/02/2019
Pre wedding: After signing the contract with Ely, who was great with us throughout the entire year, we had our food tasting in April 2018. As soon as we came into El Convento we were treated like royalty. We had our table in a separate room and it was basically a 5 course lunch to taste the different possibilities of menu we could have at the wedding. Everything was delicious, it was very hard to make decisions regarding food. We opted for the stuffed chicken and the steak, for soup the lobster bisque, for salad the arugula and watermelon and for midnight snack the asopao. While we ate we had a great conversation with Ely regarding what to expect during the wedding day.
Days before the wedding: When you are doing a destination wedding and have to travel days before the least you want is to have all the vendors calling you and feeling overwhelmed. The open communication the staff at El Convento had with all the vendors was impeccable! They had everything set and done before my arrival and my input at that point was no longer needed. Everything was flowing like clockwork. I felt at ease that I could focus on my guests and my future husband.
Day of the wedding: Both the ceremony and reception were done with the Staff at El Convento. As soon as it was showtime, this lady comes to me and tells me "I will be your personal server for the entire day". She wasn't kidding- from carrying my veil and train, giving me water as the photographer was taking pictures, bringing my husband and I drinks all night long, even feeding us hors d'oeuvres at the cocktail hour, she was literally our own personal server. We didn't know how much that was needed in a wedding until we saw how busy we were the entire night. We didn't even know we had a service like that included. We were so grateful with her service. Funny story- after she has been by my side throughout the entire ceremony, my husband asks "who is she?" and I explained, then he goes to her and says "so you will serve us drinks all night long?" she said "yes" and then he says "anything? even if we don't have it here in the venue?" and she smiled and said "yes", then my husband smiles and says in a shy way " can I have Don Q with passion fruit all night long?" and she said "coming right up". We loved her! She even brought him a capuccino at the wedding! The banquet manager was present at all times and all the waiters serving the tables looked like a dance, all at the same time, they all moved around the table in the same manner, everything was picked up at the same time and laid on the table at the same time. We were beyond impressed with the service and how everything was done in a timely manner. The banquet manager was at all times making sure my husband and I were doing perfect and we were served before anyone else. Wine was served at the tables and drinks at the bar. There was no waiting, ever. Ely came to us and made sure we were happy and were enjoying our wedding. I'm a very organized person and have always high expectations because that's exactly how I behave when it comes to service. I have nothing but the best to say about the staff at El Convento. If I could have a second wedding, I would do it there again.
Post Wedding: We arrived at our beautiful vintage suite. They had a little surprise for us (I don't want to ruin it for you guys that are looking into doing your wedding there) and a bottle of champagne for us to celebrate our union. The suite was right near the pool and jacuzzi and it was overlooking gorgeous Old San Juan and the cathedral. The next morning "our personal server" come up to our room to wake us up with mimosas with freshly squeezed orange juice.
What can I add? My experience with El Convento was one that i wish for everyone to experience. I know it might sound unreal, but my wedding was perfect. From the elegant, classy, historical venue, to the incredible, efficient, customer obsessed staff to simply being surrounded by the beauty of Old San Juan. This was my fairy tale wedding, my dream wedding or how my wedding guests called it "the wedding of the century".

A Unique and Memorable Experience
My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful experience on our wedding day. Hotel El Convento truly exceeded our expectations, making our day unforgettable. From the beauty of the venue, to the superior service and food, and lastly to the beautiful suite we had for the night, we would not have changed a thing.Sent on 04/07/2019
The staff at El Convento is super professional and knowledgeable. They also work with the most amazing professional vendors from photographers, to hair and makeup, to decorations, to the ministers, and to the MCs and DJs . You don't see the same quality of product or service in the states that often!
The venue was stunningly beautiful, creating a romantic and authentic ambience. The food was outstanding and also authentic, unlike a lot of the Americanized menus you'll find elsewhere. Even though our wedding was small and intimate (27 people including us), it was still a lively party with great music. Lastly, we stayed in a beautiful suite, free of charge the night of the wedding and walked in to a bottle of champagne on ice with a desert and card and rose pedals everywhere.
I highly recommend this venue for a unique, authentic experience with unmatched service. You will not regret it!

Beautiful wedding in Salon Campeche
This hotel is gorgeous. Trust Ely - she knows what she’s doing. I wasn’t a super planner, and left alot of the details up to Ely. Everything was amazing, the staff was so helpful, and the location is gorgeous. Our friends loved theur rooms, as well as the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Food and drinks were delish - people could not stop taking about the Flan and Sangria!Sent on 03/06/2019
