Hotel El Convento was a dream from start to finish. Nelia and her team are truly unbeatable! They are warm, attentive, and deeply committed to making your day perfect. From our first interaction, through the tasting, and into the final moments of the night, everything was seamless. The hotel staff is top-notch, not only during the wedding but throughout the entire stay. Their constant attention to every detail and need is admirable. The food is incredible, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere is iconic. They make you feel as special as you should on your wedding weekend and treat you better than family.
We loved working with Nelia so much that we also hosted our welcome event at their sister property, Hotel Palacio Provincial. You cannot go wrong with planning your wedding or any event here!

The courtyard at Palacio Provincial (Sister hotel to El Convento) was a beautiful venue for our rehearsal dinner. We rented both the indoor sitting room/conference room and outdoor courtyard space, as well as a rental tent outside for part of the courtyard. Not only was the outdoor space gorgeous and large enough to easily hold our 80+ guests, the indoor space and tent both came in handy when we were blessed with a bit of surprise rain. We had more than enough catering through the hotel's kitchen and the staff quickly pivoted to bring the food indoors when the rain started. This venue was perfect for our rehearsal dinner and would also be great for a wedding, 10/10. -

Hotel El Convento is truly something special, but what made our wedding experience absolutely unforgettable was Nelia and her incredible team. From start to finish, they were outstanding—warm, attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely excited to celebrate with us.
The level of care and attention from the staff was unmatched. Every interaction felt personal, every detail intentional. They didn’t just host our wedding—they celebrated it with us. Nelia and her team went so far above and beyond, adding the sweetest pink “Easter eggs” and hidden details throughout the hotel to honor our big day. Those little touches meant everything and made the entire experience feel magical.
You could feel the joy from everyone involved. The staff was not only professional and seamless, but truly happy to be part of our wedding weekend. That kind of energy is rare, and it made such a difference for us and our guests.

Hotel El Convento was a love at first sight location; none of the other venues that we toured in VSJ nor other western parts of the island lived up to the charm that Salon Campeche offered. We got married at the Catedral de San Juan Bautista right across the street which made Convento even more appealing. We worked with Nelia Sanchez Ramos from beginning to end and I could not have been happier with her responsiveness, kindness, and professionalism! Every member of the staff that we and our guests interacted with were extremely nice and accomodating.
It was also so nice to be able to have food and alcohol on site; additionally, Convento is very well known in VSJ and by floral, decor, planners, and music vendors making the process a lot smoother.
I could not reccomend having your wedding here more, yes of course it is pricey but you get what you pay for and the final product shows! It brought tears to my eyes seeing how beautiful the venue turned out and multiple guests told my husband and I that this was the best and most beautiful wedding they had been to. -

This venue truly had it all!
From day one, the staff guided us through every step of the process, making everything feel smooth and stress-free. They were incredibly attentive to every detail and made us feel special and genuinely cared for. The food was absolutely delicious — beautifully presented, fresh, and high quality. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were equally impressive, with great taste, thoughtful presentation, and top-shelf ingredients. The suite was stunning (Gloria Vanderbilt)— spacious, elegant, and perfect for getting ready and winding down. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
A very special thank you to the Senior Catering Manager, Nelia, who was kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful from day one. She shared some of the most valuable and honest tips throughout the planning process, and her support made all the difference. -

We hosted our wedding reception at Hotel El Convento on July 4, 2025, and it was truly a dream come true.
From start to finish, Nelia, our event coordinator, was absolutely perfect. Planning a destination wedding from outside of Puerto Rico could have been overwhelming, but Nelia made everything seamless. She was incredibly attentive, patient, and responsive—always taking the time to answer questions and work through details over phone and email. Her care and professionalism made all the difference.
The cocktail hour and reception food were outstanding. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how delicious everything was. The drinks were strong, refreshing, and kept everyone in high spirits throughout the night.
We chose Salón Campeche for the reception, and it was breathtaking. The historic charm and romantic ambiance were unforgettable—our guests are still talking about how beautiful the space was.
A huge shoutout to Ariadne from KAZ Events—she was phenomenal. Ariadne kept everything running smoothly and made sure every detail of the night unfolded flawlessly. Her calm presence, professionalism, and ability to manage the flow of the evening allowed us to relax and truly enjoy the celebration.

We recently had the opportunity to celebrate our wedding at the catedral basilica menor de San Juan Bautista and have our reception at Hotel el Convento in their Salon Martorrell. I can't say how grateful I am of the staff and the support Hotel el Convento had for me and my wife. They were extremely flexible and accommodating with our details for the reception. We do not live in Puerto Rico but Nelia was extremely supportive, helpful and professional in getting the hotel ready and working with our vendors to have everything ready the reception day.
When we arrived the staff greeted me and my wife warmly and had our suite ready for us without any delay. The hotel is a beautiful piece of history which is one of the reasons we chose it for our stay and reception.
We also chose to have our reception here because of the amazing location right in front of the San Juan Bautista cathedral were we celebrated our marriage. Salon Martorrell inside the hotel el convento is an amazing place with beautiful painted walls, celebrating remarkable women who embody faith and literature in the Spanish. It is perfect for a small and intimate reception. It accommodated all 38 of us with spare space for dancing, beautiful decor. The room is perfect sized for a wedding this size and makes the memories much more enjoyable and intimate.
Additionally, our guests and us loved the food, the highlights were the skirt steak and the three petite desserts. The atmosphere during our wedding celebration could not have been more perfect. Thank you Nelia and her team for creating such a beautiful atmosphere for us and our guests! -

My husband and I had our Welcome Happy Hour at Palacio Provincial (sister property of Hotel El Convento) on April 3, 2025, and our wedding at Hotel El Convento on April 4, 2025—and truly, it all felt like a dream we never wanted to wake up from.
The space at Palacio Provincial was absolutely stunning—elegant, timeless, and the perfect place to kick off our wedding weekend. The staff that evening was incredibly kind and attentive, and it made us even more excited to see many of them again the next day at the wedding!
My then-fiancé had toured Hotel El Convento while in Puerto Rico for a bachelor trip in December 2023, with me on FaceTime, and I immediately fell in love with the black and white checkered floors. Even without seeing it in person, I just knew this was the place we were meant to get married. We booked it with Nelia in January—and that’s when the magic really began.
Nelia was our fairygod catering manager! She answered every question and concern with patience and grace—whether over email or phone—and made us feel genuinely cared for throughout the entire process. She brought warmth, professionalism, and a true sense of family to every interaction. We had the best time at our tasting with her (and our planner, Karen!), and were so impressed by how thoughtfully the chef incorporated our feedback. The food on our wedding day: absolutely delicious—especially the lechón!
From the moment we checked in, the entire staff at Hotel El Convento—front desk, bellhop, servers—welcomed us with open arms. I cried at the end of the night when the wedding was over, and again when it was time to check out. Our friends and family could not stop talking about how phenomenal the staff, food, and venue were—it made the experience unforgettable for everyone.
Hotel El Convento and its incredible team will always hold a special place in our hearts. My husband and I are already planning our return to relive the memories, and we hope to one day bring our children here to show them where it all began.
We’d get married here again and again in a heartbeat—and I’m actively trying to convince all our friends and family to do the same so they can experience the magic too! -

An unforgettable experience full of joy and magic
We just celebrated our son’s Rehearsal Dinner at Palacio Provincial Roof Top. A Magical Experience.
All coordination and details were managed perfectly by Mrs. Nelia Sanchez. All contract details clear and accurate. The night of the event all personnel made us feel like “royalty”. 😂
Mrs Nicole Nieves was In charge of banquet services, was present all night ensuring no details were missed and everyone felt “at home”.
Finally, my son and daughter-in-law enjoyed their night to the max. A night they will never forget.
PS. The highlight of the night was the cruise ships navigating by the bay. What a Spectacle!! -

We had our welcome party at Hotel Convento, and it was nothing short of amazing! Although we had a bit of rain that day, the hotel team handled everything seamlessly by moving our event to the Plan B space without any issues. The transition was so smooth that our guests didn’t even notice the change, and the new space turned out to be perfect—comfortable, elegant, and just as stunning as the original venue.
The food was incredible and plentiful, with a great variety that everyone raved about throughout the evening. Whether it’s for a wedding or a welcome party, the venue offers the perfect blend of beauty and function, making it an ideal spot for any celebration.
Beyond the venue itself, the hotel team was extremely responsive and took care of every detail, making us feel completely at ease. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to host our guests and to welcome them to Puerto Rico / Wedding Weekend. We highly recommend Hotel Convento to anyone looking for a stunning and hassle-free venue.

We chose to have our wedding in Hotel El Convento because I had childhood memories of going there for lunch with my grandpa when I was growing up, and had a sentimental attachment to it. We are so happy we had our wedding here in the Salon Campeche, as well as our post-wedding brunch in the courtyard of El Convento. Not only is it a unique, gorgeous and historical venue, but the service was of the utmost quality and professionalism. I want to particularly recognize Nelia Sanchez, the event and catering manager, who was extremely professional, helpful, responsive and flexible throughout the whole process of working with her. The whole process of working with them was so easy and pleasant because she was so helpful. Also, the food during the cocktail hour, wedding reception, and brunch was absolutely delicious, and the staff was super professional, attentive and helpful during all of the events. This was a truly spectacular and memorable place to have our wedding, and it could not have been better. -

From the moment we toured El Convento we fell in love with the Spanish colonial architecture and historic charm of the surrounding Old San Juan area. As guests at the Hotel on one of our first trips to Puerto Rico we knew the hospitality and beauty was unmatched, but even so the catering and events team exceeded our expectations.
Working with El Convento's catering manager, Nelia Sanchez, was truly a highlight of our wedding planning experience. From our first meeting to tour the event spaces through to the final song at our reception, Nelia made us feel so supported and heard. No detail was too small for Nelia and her team as they expertly hosted our guests both on wedding day and for a delicious brunch the following morning.

Hotel El Convento in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, is the epitome of romance and elegance. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with professionalism and warmth by each member of the hotel staff, who went above and beyond to make our special stay exceptional! My husband and I checked into the junior suite for two days and then the hotel helped us move over to the bridal suite (MY FAVORITE - I love the checkered floor) the Friday before our wedding day so we could be comfortable to get ready to walk down the aisle on Saturday!
We are incredibly grateful to Hotel El Convento's Catering Manager, Nelia T. Sánchez Ramos and her dedicated team for their unwavering support and accommodations throughout our wedding planning process. Their close attention to detail and commitment to our vision ensured that every aspect of our special day was flawless.
The wedding rehearsal dinner held in Salon Martorell was nothing short of spectacular. I had my rehearsal dinner at Hotel El Convento. From the start, Nelia, the catering manager, could not have been more helpful. She emailed back and forth with myself and my husband repeatedly and was so kind. The first hour of this event was outside in a gorgeous courtyard with appetizers, sangria and an open mojito bar. The following two hours was a tapas style dinner inside a gorgeous hand painted room. It was an open mojito bar the entire time. My friends and family kept commenting on how beautiful the space was and how delicious the food was. We got to play our own music and it was a blast. The bartender put up with all my crazy friends with a smile on his face. Again, Nelia, couldn't not have been more efficient, responsive and kind. Hotel El Convento is blessed to have her on their team. 10/10 recommend -

The best day of our lives
We got married at hotel el convento on 4/19 and it was quite literally the best day of our lives. Because we were planning a destination wedding, it was really important that we created a memorable experience for our guests who were traveling to celebrate us throughout the entire weekend… and what a memorable experience they received! Our guests have not stopped talking about the wedding weekend and the incredible experience they had at beautiful hotel el Convento.
From the impeccable food, exquisite hotel grounds, breathtaking reception space, and exceptional customer service, our wedding was nothing short of absolute perfection. Planning our destination wedding was also such a breeze with the assistance of the catering manager, Nelia, who is more like a fairy godmother and angel sent from heaven. She is truly incredible at her job and made the planning process so easy with her kindness and responsiveness. We thank Nelia and the entire staff at Hotel El Convento for their warm welcome and hospitality as we called the hotel home for 9 full days. Our guests had nothing but glowing reviews of the customer service and staff as well and could not stop talking about the food!

We just got married at Hotel El Convento on March 2, 2024 and have nothing but amazing things to say! We first toured the venue in November 2023. From that first meeting, we knew it was the venue for us. Nelia spent over two hours with us in that first meeting. The care, attention, and consideration she showed to us in that first meeting never wavered over the next year and a half leading up to our wedding. She consistently was available to us to answer questions, answer emails, and get us any information she needed. She was flexible to work with, professional, kind, and compassionate. She truly went above and beyond to ensure we felt at ease every step of the way. Come our wedding day, this level of service went beyond just Nelia. All of the staff, servers, bartenders, bellhops, front desk attendants - literally everyone and anyone at Hotel El Convento - were amazing. From helping us deliver our welcome bags to guests to ensuring our guests were settled in their rooms to keeping the party going on our wedding night, they all demonstrated what five star service is. We are already planning to return to Hotel El Convento to celebrate our one year anniversary and soak it all in yet again! That should be a testament to how much we cherished Nelia and her whole team throughout not only the planning process but also our wedding weekend. -

Amazing Venue, amazing food and great staff!
From the minute we selected Hotel el Convento as our wedding venue we knew it was going to be magical, with its historical details and old world charm we felt immediately connected. Nelia was amazing every step of the way helping us select our menu and referred us to our amazing wedding planner Karisha Marie. Our guest are still talking about all aspects of our wedding but most importante the food which was amazing! highly recommend -

Amazing venue, food, and service!
If you are getting married at Hotel El Convento and get paired with Nelia as your catering manager, you are truly in luck! Nelia is a true professional. She was quick to respond and always provided lots of helpful information. She was one of our favorite people throughout the wedding planning process!
The actual venue itself is gorgeous inside and out. It gives off a very old world timeless charm but can be decorated with any vibe. We had around 115 people which was perfect.
The food is out of this world! We had so many compliments from guests about all the food they enjoyed. They also set aside some appetizers for my husband and I to eat and served dinner to us first which we very much appreciated! -

I cannot even believe the incredible experience we had getting married at Hotel El Convento. Everything was just absolutely perfect.
Starting off with the ease of planning everything (even while living in Massachusetts). Nelia was so organized and easy to communicate with. Nothing was ever hidden or a surprise when it came to costs. And she really took the time to help us with each and every step. From planning out food, all of the hundreds of questions I had, vendor recommendations, and making everything fit together, she was amazing to work with.
The venue itself is just unbelievable. The architecture, the paintings, the cleanliness, the antique elegance. It was a dream to get married in such an amazing historic place. And so many beautiful places to take pictures (even if it rains like it did for us, there is no shortage of beautiful spaces for pictures!).
The staff was also so wonderful. From the moment we got to the hotel, everyone was friendly and accommodating. Especially the employees who worked our wedding. Yvette in particular was such a sweet woman. We actually met her at the tasting and requested for her to also work closely with us at our wedding because we just loved her so much!
And then the food- oh my gosh the food. I will probably never taste anything as good as the food here ever again in my life. Everything was perfect. And what an amazing selection to choose from!! I also love that they offer late night snacks!!! This was a HUGE hit for our guests.
Our guests were blown away by everything. People could not stop talking about the service, the beauty of the venue, and the food.
And back to Nelia- she is the heart of all of this. She truly loves what she does- it’s so obvious that she has a real passion for her work and the people she works with. She is kind and caring, has such an excitement for the couples getting married, and also is incredibly organized. She doesn’t miss any details and she ensures that everything is flowing smoothly. From the set up, to the flow of food being served, to the final touches with late night snacks- everything was perfect. I could seriously go on and on!
If you are thinking about booking a wedding here- do it!!!! You will not regret it! -

The best venue
We had the wedding of our dreams at Hotel El Convento. We also had our rehearsal dinner and post wedding brunch here. Our guests (most of which traveled from the US) immediately fell in love with the beauty of the hotel and were able to explore Old San Juan. In the year of planning, Nelia was my point of contact and she was incredible. She was extremely responsive, kind, and professional. She answered all my questions in detail and helped me craft the menus for the multiple events. Our guests absolutely loved the food throughout our wedding weekend—it was phenomenal. The entire staff at the hotel was excellent. All of our guests had an amazing experience. The hotel is extremely experienced with events and weddings and the flow of all our events was impeccable. There’s not a single thing I would change! Don’t think twice about making this your wedding venue—it has all the beauty, charisma, and excellent team/service for your dream wedding!!! -

We had our March 2023 wedding at Hotel el Convento and it was literally the wedding of our dreams!!!! Our guests are still talking about our wedding 5 months later and how it was the most amazing wedding they attended. Hotel el Convento was exactly what we had envisioned and then some. NELIA is literally a gem of a human. She made the whole experience smooth and easy. I am not an easy person to please (I am a Wedding Planner myself) so having a strong background in this field, I knew exactly what I wanted and NELIA made it all happen. The food was phenomenal from cocktail hour to the main course to our late night snacks everyone was stuffed, the drinks were delicious and I am constantly craving one of the Passion Ginger Mojitos. The venue is beyond gorgeous from the iconic front doors to the black and white floors. We truly wish we could relive our wedding over and over again. Maria and Nelia gave us an amazing welcome and tour, Fabiola checked in throughout the night, we did not have to do anything but enjoy our day!
Every.single.detail. Was covered. My bride and I had a personal server making sure we were getting food/drinks during photo shoots and all the wedding madness.
PLEASE review their list of recommended vendors. They have established relationships with the best vendors on the island, which resulted in everything going perfectly!

A dream wedding venue.
Hotel El Convento was and is one of my favorite places in Puerto Rico. The service and staff were amazing and always kind through the planning process. The service during the day of the wedding was amazing and guests felt taken care of. My favorite part of this venue is of course, the venue. We worked with Nelia who is an actual angel, she is professional, thorough, so easy to work with and will go above and beyond to make this the easiest and best experience. There is not enough words to describe what a great experience we had so I will try summarize. Beyond being a beautiful location, the staff is absolutely exceptional, our guests and ourselves were so taken care of it was incredible. Nelia and her team were with us throughout the day, from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to the reception, ensuring everything went smoothly and making sure we had everything we needed. As soon as we came into cocktail hour they ensured we had a plate of hors d'oeuvres so we could try them all and we had a waiter catering directly to us so we always had drinks or anything we needed. For dinner we had the buffet and they served it directly to us and even gave us our own tray of the desert samples so we could try all of our selections. The food is beyond good, we heard so many compliments from our guests and the Chef even came out to greet us. When I say this was the best experience that is not an exaggeration, the location is beautiful and the staff is awesome! Hotel El Convento far and beyond exceeded our expectations from site visit through wedding day. Nelia was our contact person there, and she was so helpful, responsive, and kind throughout the entire planning process. Come day of, the venue was gorgeous, spotless, and everything we wanted it to be. The food was incredible (try the pork) and the drinks were delicious. After touring various venues around the island, I couldn’t be happier that I chose El Convento. Fabiola, the Director of Catering, was always from the get-go quick at responding my emails and would respond any and every single question in detail. She was especially accommodating and going above and beyond when I had to move our wedding from January 2022 to July 2022 due to an increase in Covid measures with minimum hassle. I appreciated how helpful and nice she was throughout the whole process and even came by on our wedding day after arriving from a vacation to see how everything was, would bring me water as we were taking pictures and brought us a plate filled with our cocktail hour snacks after we took pictures. I could honestly write paragraphs on how amazing she is and how grateful I am to her, but you have to experience it yourself!
In addition to Fabiola, the front desk agents were extremely nice and attentive from the moment we arrived, especially Helen, who decorated our room and were able to check me in to my room at 12pm before our 4pm ceremony. One of the best perks of doing your wedding here is that you get a complimentary room for the night of the wedding!
Another amazing person I’d like to highlight was Pello (it’s his nickname and now can’t remember his real name). He took us to the board room at the hotel where we did our hair and makeup. He swung by every so often to make sure we were doing ok and helped clean up after ourselves as we ordered some tea, coffee, juices, and pastries as we got ready. He was also our bartender for the evening and did an amazing job of noticing when you needed refills without even having to ask!
My final few remarks are that the food offerings for the wedding are absolutely amazing! If you want authentic Puerto Rican food, this is where to go. My guests were raving, as was I, about how well seasoned and delicious everything was. We also got some additional offerings like a coffee barista and asopa’, which was such a great plus at the end of the night. The only two downsides I can share is parking (you’re subject to street parking in Old San Juan and any valet parking nearby) and their room reservation system (it was somewhat impossible getting in touch with them and when my guests would call to book a room under our room block, they always said we didn’t have one even when we did and the reservations manager would take forever to respond).
Overall, it was one of the best experiences in my life and would do it all over again with them!

I'm not sure where to even start. El Convento was my dream wedding venue for its beautiful, historic charm. But I was absolutely blown away by Fabiola and the whole El Convento team throughout the almost two years of planning. From working closely with us to make sure we could keep things within budget, to our change of date (thanks COVID) was as easy and painless as it could be, to choosing the menu (this was hard, absolutely EVERYTHING we tasted was delicious), to the incredible service day of, we could not have handpicked a more dedicated, professional, kind, and overall awesome team to work with on one of the most important events of our lives. Everything we wanted and more. Fabiola and her team make your dreams come true.
She was my first phone call after we got engaged, we booked the venue 18 months in advance because we knew that we wanted to get married in El Convento. Fabiola helped us book the ceremony site, Plaza La Rogativa, and helped us manage the nuances to that as well (something that she absolutely did not have to do). Our reception was in Salon Martorell. As a destination wedding for us, Fabiola guided us every step of the way. Fabiola and the rest of the staff became family to us over the 18 months that we planned, visited, called and emailed. On the weekend of our wedding, every single staff member helped our guests feel like family, and for that we are so eternally grateful. Over the entire planning process, we visited three times (one year out, three months out, and the wedding weekend).
Fabiola and the rest of the team were nothing short of perfection. Extremely talented, personable, responsive, supportive.
When we were choosing a venue, we choose it for the superficial aspects (beauty, location, etc). We didn't realize that we would end up loving the people more.

We did an extensive tour of venues for about a week, touring 11 different venues from Haciendas, all inclusive resorts, and city hotels. Hotel El Convento was our #1 pick. The history of the hotel and the hotel itself is beautiful. But the number one thing that helped us solidify our decision was our wedding coordinator, Nelia. She was amazing from day 1. I communicated with her for months before ever seeing the hotel and she was always very helpful and super responsive. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed the day of. She coordinated every detail with me from menus, to table setup, to decoration layouts. The hotel itself will stand on its own and be amazing, but what made our wedding was all the little details that went into the planning and that couldn't have been done without the help of Nelia.

To say this venue is a dream doesnt even come close!
Hotel El Convento truely was our dream wedding come true!!!!! We worked with the destination wedding manager, Nelia, who was the most sincere and accommodating person I think I have ever met in my life! She helped us organize everything (from Colorado nonetheless) and provided recommendations for outside vendors. The vendors listed she sent over were were all remarkable and very easy to deal with despite not being able to physically meet with! Nelia even took time out of her busy wedding schedule to walk the property with us when we first got there and suggested some gorgeous photo locations to our photographer.
The venue itself is SO gorgeous. I was not anticipating how truly beautiful the architecture and history of the hotel is. The ceremony space was absoluetly perfect for our small wedding (26 including ourselves) and the food and drinks were AMAZING. I have never seen my husband eat soup or crab in all our years of dating and he ate both mine and his! The servers were SO attentive and everyone said they had such a magical time.
The last note I would like to include is that compared to all other options I explored such as a destination package wedding or wedding at another hotel - this was much more affordable by far. I am honestly shocked at what a great value we received and would have happily paid double for the wonderful experience we had!
From the amazing staff, breathtaking location and super delicious food - I hands down would recommend this venue time and time again!

The Hotel El Convento was an excellent place to host our wedding welcome party! We worked with Tary and our wedding planner, Karisha Marie Events, to set up everything. Tary was extremely responsive and able to answer all our questions. We knew that we wanted to host the Welcome party for our 60+ guests in Old San Juan and after exploring many options the Hotel El Convento was hands down the best! It was difficult to find a space for such a large group. The hotel was very accommodating and gave us an excellent space to set up the party. We decided to have traditional Puerto Rico food and all the guests raved about how it was excellent. The bar set up was great, just for our group. My dad is handicapped, and the facilities and setup were really good for him. I highly recommend working with them for any event! Thank you! -

El Convento hosted our wedding in December of 2019. We worked with Tary and Sandra, both of whom were so helpful throughout the planning process. We had 135 guests and had the ceremony at Plaza Rogativa and the reception in Campeche Salon. With a few tables upstairs, we had more than enough space for the reception. El Convento also provided an indoor room for the ceremony in case it rained. We also used that room for the wedding rehearsal (it's beautiful). The reception went flawlessly. El Convento provided us a personal server who brought us drinks and hors d'oeuvre while we were still taking photos after the ceremony and preparing to enter the reception. The dinner service was well executed and the food is delicious (we did Mango Chicken, Stuffed Pork and the Eggplant) The room itself is stunning Spanish architecture (definitely check out their pictures). We also hosted a brunch the next day in the hotel courtyard. We had an amazing experience and would highly recommend El Convento.Hotel El Convento's reply:

Hotel El Convento is in the heart of Old San juan and is part of the beautiful, historical architecture in the city. The location isn’t the reason I had my wedding here though, the Salon Campeche was, but I am so happy because the location itself made my ceremony at La Rogativa so magical. I walked at least 200 meters down the old cobblestone street to my husband and it was nothing short of a fairytale. The reception area (Salon Campeche) was also a MAJOR influence to our theme, Tim Burton. It is the most beautiful room with high ceilings and a checkered ballroom floor with a grand stage. Ely was our coordinator and she was very professional and kind throughout the entire process. She was very patient with our requests and changes and the food was PERFECT. The greatest part about the food was that during the tasting we could request changes to the recipes to make things more palatable to our liking with no problem at all. They were open to suggestions and accommodating to us and I know I couldn’t have found this hospitality or customer service anywhere else. I didn’t feel like a customer or number to them, I felt like my day was really important to Ely and the hotel. They even provided extra banquet personnel and an assistant, Caroline, for myself. That was a surprise because I already expected my bridesmaids to help me with some things but Caroline was there for all of it! She was fantastic. Hotel El Convento was hands down the best venue for the best experience I could have ever asked for. -

Words will never be enough to describe how amazing our experience was at El Convento.
This stunning location will forever be in my heart as one of my favorite places on Earth.
Every last detail about El Convento blew us away. Our ceremony was stunning and so many of our guests commented how they have never seen a place with so much charm and elegance.
The service was hands down the most spectacular of our lives. The servers kept our tables immaculate the entire night. They provided a 5 start fine dining experience. And my husband and I had our own server who made sure that we enjoyed food and drinks throughout the night.
And of course, Ely was a true professional and made the planning process so smooth and easy for us.Hotel El Convento's reply:

Amazing venue and service!
I was suggested Hotel El Convento by my wedding planner Maria Lugo after understanding our vision for our wedding. Since I live in the DC area, I booked this venue sight unseen and relied on purely internet photos and on the expertise of my wedding planner. For those who are looking to do things the way I did, please know that the pictures of El Convento on the internet just do not do it full justice. This place is absolutely breath taking and the salon Campeche which is the room where we held the reception is truly out of a magazine! I was partnered up with Tary Jordan which was our hotel coordinator and she was amazing. Throughout the year of our planning, she was extremely responsive, attended each of my emails , and called me back to ensure any of my doubts or questions were answered! She was such a pleasure to work with and strongly suggest that you request to work with her if you have the chance! The service though out the night of the reception was above 5 stars! All of my guests were so impressed on how attentive the staff was and how well everyone was taken care of! This place has everything you can possibly desire in a wedding, 100% recommend!Hotel El Convento's reply:

My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful experience on our wedding day. Hotel El Convento truly exceeded our expectations, making our day unforgettable. From the beauty of the venue, to the superior service and food, and lastly to the beautiful suite we had for the night, we would not have changed a thing.
The staff at El Convento is super professional and knowledgeable. They also work with the most amazing professional vendors from photographers, to hair and makeup, to decorations, to the ministers, and to the MCs and DJs . You don't see the same quality of product or service in the states that often!
The venue was stunningly beautiful, creating a romantic and authentic ambience. The food was outstanding and also authentic, unlike a lot of the Americanized menus you'll find elsewhere. Even though our wedding was small and intimate (27 people including us), it was still a lively party with great music. Lastly, we stayed in a beautiful suite, free of charge the night of the wedding and walked in to a bottle of champagne on ice with a desert and card and rose pedals everywhere.
I highly recommend this venue for a unique, authentic experience with unmatched service. You will not regret it!Hotel El Convento's reply:

Beautiful wedding in Salon Campeche
This hotel is gorgeous. Trust Ely - she knows what she’s doing. I wasn’t a super planner, and left alot of the details up to Ely. Everything was amazing, the staff was so helpful, and the location is gorgeous. Our friends loved theur rooms, as well as the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Food and drinks were delish - people could not stop taking about the Flan and Sangria! -

There are not enough good things I can say about this Hotel both as a hotel and a wedding venue. The service, food and overall experience were A+++. My wedding exceeded my wildest expectations and I had high ones! If I could do it all over again, I would 100% do it at Hotel El Convento. A truly unforgettable wedding for both myself and my guests. We will be talking about it for years to come. Would highly, highly recommend! -

When my now-husband and I decided to get married in Puerto Rico, we knew we would get married in Old San Juan. I was born and raised in PR in the West coast and my husband grew up in Virginia. For logistic purposes, we wanted a wedding in SJ so our out-of-town guests could fly in to the main SJ airport. And what better place to have a wedding than in the old, walled city of San Juan. Within Old San Juan, Hotel El Convento was the essence of our wedding theme - Spanish Colonial Charm! The service from the hotel staff was excellent from the food tasting to the actual wedding day. Not one detail was overlooked. We even had a "kids play room" adjacent to the main banquet hall and everyone raved about how great it was to have the room and hired nannies take care of the little ones while the adults danced the night away in beautiful Salon Campeche. Our wedding was truly magical and I could not have imagined a more perfect venue than Hotel El Convento. The hotel has everything you could dream of: excellent food, beautiful spaces, elegant rooms, and conveniently located within walking distances of all Old San Juan has to offer. We will definitely be staying at Hotel El Convento for future wedding anniversaries to remember our one truly special day! -

Liz Sent on 10/25/2018Ely and Diane made me feel like a queen on my wedding day!
My husband and I wanted something low-key and budget friendly. For years, El Convento had been my “dream wedding” venue. I never believed I could afford such a beautiful reception. On a whim, I reached out to El Convento’s WONDERFUL catering manager, Ely Rivera, who provided us with a flexible quote to meet many budgets.
Ely consistently worked with us via email and in person throughout the whole process. She reached out to us when our options could change. For an additional charge, she took care of booking La Rogativa via the National Park Service and provided chairs for the ceremony, plus a backup indoor room for in climate weather. I had previously attempted to contact the NPS on my own, but could not get through to anybody. Ely was able to use her professional contacts and take care of it.
Due to our budget constraints, we didn’t book flowers or any other extra decorations. We had candles as the centerpieces, and used the linens/china/chairs/etc that came with the base package. At no point did anyone make us feel like we were beneath the standards of a luxury hotel. Ely even recommended to me that we use the gold chairs to match the china, rather than simply using my first choice of white.
Ely was present on the day of our wedding and gave us all the cues we needed for walking down the isle, the grand entrance, first dances, etc. Trust me, you will need this extra help.
Another fantastic element of my wedding was Diane, our personal attendant. She is YOUR server. The entire time we were taking our photos, dancing, and socializing, Diane was there. I had no idea this was part of the package. Initially, I thought she was simply going to bring us our drinks - until she helped me change into my dancing shoes! Seriously - Does your husband want to take his jacket and tie off to dance? Diane will make sure it gets back to your room. Are you too busy and nervous to eat? Diane will make sure you have a plate wrapped up for later. Do you want to step away from the crowd to have a smoke break? Diane will find you a discreet corner. Whatever you need, ask Diane.
I cannot recommend El Convento more. Five stars, all around. -

Carolyn Sent on 01/10/2018What can I say... our wedding was perfect in every single way. After the hurricane, we were worried that our dream wedding day was no longer a reality. I'm originally from Puerto Rico and the thought of doing the wedding anywhere else broke my heart. The team at El Convento, and particularly Fabiola, went above and beyond to ensure that our wedding would turn out exactly as we had originally planned. When I think back to my wedding day, not a single thing was wrong. The food was perfect, the venue looked amazing, and the service above and beyond. The food was delicious and all of our guests were raving about the sancocho. Drinks were plentiful. Fabiola was there to comfort me every step of the way. Thank you, El Convento wedding team for making all of our dreams come true. If we could do our wedding again, we would go back to El Convento in a heartbeat. Lots of love, Carolyn & Peter -

Jessica Sent on 01/10/2016Ely was an amazing help throughout the planning process and day of. Our initial plan was to have ~30 family/friends attend our small intimate wedding at EC. Just days after we sent our deposit, we found out that my sister and SIL were BOTH expecting and due around our date 4/2/16 and there was no way I was getting married with everyone but them there. Our options were to push the wedding back a year, lose the deposit and get married at home (Chicago), or elope. After much thought, we decided to scrap the full wedding, move the date up and get married just the two of us. We couldn't be more happy with that decision. Ely was very accommodating and allowed us to apply our deposit to an elopement ceremony. The day went flawlessly and we were even invited by the governor to take photos at his mansion! A day we will truly never forget and wouldn't have been possible without Ely and El Convento.
