Whatever it takes

We planned our wedding with rural hill over the course of 9 months. They were so friendly and wanted to know everything we had in mind for our wedding. They are so kind and did everything they could to make our day special. We had to change our ceremony site at the last minute and the staff were very accommodating. The property is so beautiful. We had a simple and intimate ceremony and used the venue on the property for a dinner. Everything provided directly by the venue was amazing and we really feel like we got fantastic service and it fit our budget well.

Gorgeous setting for a gorgeous day

Rural Hill was a totally STUNNING setting for our big day. In the spring time, when we got married (5/4/2024) the fields were lush, the flowers clustered by the Highland cow pastures were in bloom, and the gorgeous old trees that dot the property were vibrantly adorned with green. The venue staff made our day run pretty seamlessly helped, no doubt, by our choice to work with Nicole from Color Me Glitter as our coordinator (she also manages the venue).

Ceremony and prep: The historic house the venue offers for get-ready had several rooms for us to choose from/spread out in for our various groups of groom-party, bride-party, and immediate family. Initially my now-husband and I wanted to not see each other until the ceremony, which was easily accomplished with the rooms available to us, but when we decided to do a first-look in a sudden fit of “heck, why not” there were all these gorgeous little spaces where we could choose to make that happen just outside of the house. Before the ceremony we spent most of our get-ready time wandering around with our wedding party, immediate family and photographers, checking out the cows and the other buildings around the property. It was a relaxing and magical lead-in to the ceremony, which we held at the base of a big black walnut tree on the property. Despite some rain, the venue staff was able to get us all set up and even had towels for our guests to wipe off their seats. Our gamble on the weather and the staff having the equipment to make everyone comfy (and not damp from the chairs) really paid off–our prelude music wrapped up just as the rain tapered off and our wedding happened in a mystically green light under dramatic cloud-shift skies.

Reception: We had a very stripped-down reception in terms of our own decoration, but the beauty of the venue itself made for a convivial and cozy time with family and friends. The cultural center where our reception was held is lit warmly, and with the pretty wood boards and a scattering of sparkle lights over the covered patio we felt very good about the setting. The flow of the space was very good–we had a gifts/guestbook/wedding favors station right near the entrance closest to parking, and catering was able to set up a smooth path of transit from the kitchen to the little library space where our buffet and bar was mostly centered. I was surprised when we were doing planning of how many options we had for how to arrange the space with tables/cocktail hour area/dancefloor/etc. It is a compact, cozy venue, but one with lots of flexibility to make the day unique. The venue recommendation for the dance floor being on the covered patio (connected to the main hall via a garage-style door) was a really great idea, and made for great air flow in the most active area of our party space.

The venue was very accommodating of our requests for everything with extra time, how we used their various spaces for our unique event, and even our wild, last-minute gamble on weather (though they did also offer us a back-up plan that we could have swapped to if the weather didn’t cooperate). Additionally, the vendors on the preferred list were excellent recommendations–I would highly encourage anyone having an event here to lean into those suggestions for a smooth-running party. Gorgeous place for a gorgeous day, would absolutely recommend hosting your event at Rural Hill.

Rural Hill is a great location in Huntersville that is full of charm and has such a peaceful "rural" setting. Lauren is amazing to work with and she is always so pleasant. The venue is very open and lots of options there. They have some great areas for photography so you won't be disappointed.

Catering By Tara Catering By Tara Wedding Caterers

The management team at Historic Rural Hills is top notch. Lauren is very easy to work with, is patient and is sincerely kind. It is wonderful to work in a venue that is very well taken care of and they show a genuine concern for their clients special event. I love the kitchen area at Rural Hills. For me it met our needs as a caterer coming in to hold and serve our clients ,menu selections for their event. I have worked in many Venues and knowing I would go back to Rural Hills eases my mind. It is a gorgeous place and I myself would love to hold a private event there one day. It is so important that vendors work well together in a venue. At Rural Hills they are just as professional and kind to us as they were to their clients and I thank them for that! Especially Lauren! I look forward to working with you all again soon! Keep doing what you are doing! All my best, Chef Tara
