The Blum Barn property was originally occupied in 1832 by Petrus Blum, a Bavarian emigrant who settled in Bridgewater, Michigan The original stone home built on the property was made from fieldstone found on the farm and remained in his family in until the early 1930s. Blum then built a similar structure for his eldest son across the street, which has been occupied by the Renner's since the late 1960s. The farm was a dairy farm until the 1960s, when it was converted to a horse racing and training facility, and it remained that way until 2016, when it was purchased by the current owners.
