Hats Off Entertainment is the best of the best! Geoff Cox, the owner, is personable, responsive, and provides top notch service throughout the planning process. We booked Hats Off for our September 2025 wedding nearly a year ahead of time and Geoff made us feel like a priority through all the planning stages.
For our actual event, Jim made the whole evening seamless and a night to remember! He took guest requests, played a custom mash-up for the father-daughter dance, and kept everyone entertained!

We were super on the fence about how to manage the music and reception at our wedding. We were trying to save money at every corner, but still have a professionally run event. My husband and I, his family, and alot of our friends travelled back home for the wedding so we ultimately didn’t want to put one of our close friends and family to work managing the music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Weddings tend to be a series of moments strung together and we wanted ourselves and our guests to be fully immersed in the moments and not worrying about queueing up songs or hitting play and pause at the right seconds. For this reason, we ultimately decided to get a DJ, but kept it on the lower side of some of the services out there, coming in at less than $2,000 for 6 hours of service (Ceremony + Reception) with Hats Off Entertainment.

Now that you see the reasons why a DJ was the right fit for us, please read on for all of the ways Hats Off entertainment blew our expectations out of the water and made us feel like this was some of our most cost-effective spending of the whole weekend.

Experience informed guidance and support: Even beyond wedding planning, I am a super type A person - I put a lot of thought and time and care into just about everything and so wedding planning was no different. Even before signing with a DJ, I was categorizing music and making playlists of the type of music we might want for certain parts of the night. I also collected song requests from guests as part of the RSVP process. When the time came to meet with Geoff for our prep meeting (about a month out from the wedding), I had a mass of information - not all of it super helpful - and yet he was able to sort it all out. From the moment the meeting started I could tell Geoff was ready for anything and prepared to craft any variety of wants and needs into game plan for a great night. I happened to have lots of info to throw at him, but he had a structure for the meeting that guided us through the whole night so that even if I didn’t have all the info ready, I would not have felt overwhelmed by all the questions, but rather would have felt more focused on what info actually mattered to make our night turn out the way we wanted.

Truly customized experience and event: I could tell from reading Hats Off reviews that they’ve thrown a wide variety of wedding parties, but after experiencing our wedding firsthand you could convince me they specialized in throwing parties just for me and husband. Geoff worked the crowd perfectly and hit SO many of our song requests and pulled in plenty of extra inspo that gave a little something for all of our guests to enjoy.

Similar to an event coordinator: I read before our wedding that when you get a DJ you kind of get a defacto reception coordinator, and Geoff really made this a reality. Due to our budget, I was the stand-in day off coordinator and our bridal party and close family was our set up and tear down team. I cannot express enough how valuable it was to my peace of mind to not be worrying about music or audio at any point in the day. Audio equipment and technology in general can just be so finicky and unless you are blessed to have a close friend or family who has that skill set, I just couldn’t imagine putting all the expectations on a loved one to make sure music and audio was functional for one of the most memorable moments of our lives. And lastly, as we went to kick off the reception, Geoff checked in with the whole bridal party and myself and my husband and got us all ready for the true whirlwind part of the night and helped us never miss a beat. Every event in the timeline he was giving us a heads up and adapted to any twists and turns. My husband and I got to experience every phase of the night without worrying about running behind or figuring out what happened next. Our guests could never tell when we swapped the order of things or extended or shortened phases of the event.

If you read this far and are still on the fence, I end the way I started: we were looking for a professional feeling and experience on a relative budget and Hats Off Entertainment was truly a professional experience in every aspect of the word.

We worked with Geoff this past weekend for our wedding reception and I wish we could do it all again! Geoff worked with our wishes and made it all run smoothly. He is extremely professional yet fun at the same time. I highly suggest hiring this company for your DJ and entertainment needs. 10/10!

We had dj Donny for our wedding and he was awesome. I can't say enough about him. He was very professional , fun, organized and biggest thing was he communicated with me and my husband all night. He kept the music flowing and was playing the entire playlist I had given him for my wedding night. We would recommend dj Donny to everyone !

Geoff was awesome to work with. He had everything organized and was very communicative before and during our wedding. Guests had so much fun dancing, and he was one step ahead of everything, including having a microphone for our officiant, and letting my husband and I know when it was time for the dances, cake cutting, and everything we needed to do.

Geoff was wonderful!! He read the room and kept the party going throughout the entire reception!! Highly recommend!! We had an amazing reception for our daughter and her new hubby!!!
