You get what you pay for (or do you)?
First, the lack of communication. They were very responsive up until booking, but, after we booked, they took several days or sometimes weeks to respond to simple questions. The most infuriating thing is that, once they did respond, different people would give different answers (through Honeybook) and no one seemed to communicate with each other. It was like they did not read the previous messages before responding. They also made several promises before booking (like colored tablecloths are included not just white, all cake table decor is included) that were not upheld or acknowledged.
Further, along with broken promises were the last minute changes. The original prices given was not very close to the final amount paid. They seemed to add random charges whenever they could without explanation. When I asked for an explanation I was told a higher authority looked at it and decided to add onto it. The a WEEK BEFORE THE WEDDING the manager added almost $200 worth of extra charges and then I was send an email I had to pay that day before 5 (not even online but by dropping a check off in Dallas which is an hour away) or else my wedding would not go on. After I called them several times and explained that I did not get off work until 5, they said I could pay online. I had never missed a payment and the balance had been 0 until they made this change. This was so unprofessional and led to unneeded tears during a time that should be joyful. There was also a phone-call meeting a couple weeks before the wedding that they missed but they did genuinely apologize.
They also up-charged for napkin colors and gold cake cutters which I was told was included at our color meeting but then sent different prices in the updated proposal. There were also several other things wrong they took months to fix (again so many unnecessary emails) he person who conducted my color meeting did not seem qualified and hand-wrote the items (some which were misspelled). She could not answer any questions we had at the meeting even though we were told to come with questions.
The menu also got constricted from the time we booked as they changed their appetizer options and it became much more limited than we were expecting.
The food itself was good and they did have enough for everyone. The cake was also delicious, however not everyone was served and there was only one slice leftover, so either the slices were too big or the cake was too small. We also paid for a dessert table that I was very excited for, however, it looked nothing like the pictures on their website and was just bowls of things rather than the display the seemed to promise. I wish I would have done this myself or saved the money.
People moved through the buffer quick enough and no one complained about the warmth of the food. The Chef that came was so nice and everyone loved talking to him! The tables were also bussed fast. However, it took them forever to serve the cake so people ended up leaving without having a piece. They also did not cut our grooms cake which I thought was strange.
The day-of Michael set up and he was very nice and efficient. They also gave me a gift which was a nice touch. There was no stress for them the day of which I appreciated. However, I had already had a bad taste in my mouth from our previous interactions.
Overall, I think they could benefit from a smaller operation and better organization so that clients do not have to keep checking on updates or fixing accounting mistakes they have made. I have a distant friend who also used them before I could warn her and dealt with the same issues (random charges, broken promises, no clear answers) However, she used the venue too so I think they were more responsive.
Dont use this company
The day of the event was a nightmare. We called the company early in the day (around 12-1) just to confirm that they had everything they needed for us.... we couldnt get anyone on the phone. Finally about an hour later we got contact with someone and they confirmed our event. Our event was set to start at 6:00 and the company was to arrive 1 hour before at 5:00 to set up. When the guests arrived at the venue at 6:00, the catering company was no where to be found and HAD NO COMMUNICATION WITH US THAT THEY WERE RUNNING LATE. We called and got ahold of someone who said they were about 20 minutes away...... They finally arrived at 7:00 and we didn't begin eating until 8:00..... It took them a whole hour to prep the food that was already cooked. When we finally got to eat, the food was COLD, the chicken was PINK inside and they brought pork tenderloin when our contract indicated BEEF tenderloin. The whole experience was a mess and I would never recommend this company to anyone. STAY AWAY
Very unprofessional
