Reviews of Gray's Flower Garden

Sonia was so helpful, and very friendly. My goal was to provide her a general idea of what I wanted, by providing colors, styles, sizes of flowers, types of flowers etc, but also saying "you're a florist, go for it... you know best!"... and I could not be happier. She was friendly on the phone, we chatted a few times and she read my google document in great detail and really made it happen. I absolutely loved my bouquet. In fact, I probably said that like 20 times in the night which later I realized was a bit excessive ;)

Gray's Flower Garden was on my list of florists to contact - given to me by Kevin Gage at the Twenty Mile House where our event was being held.

I had called another florist in the area prior to Gray's and just wasn't gaining ground. I explained my thoughts, budget and ideas and didn't feel as though the vendor and I were connecting on any basic level. Frustrated I called Gray's Flower Garden, a little further away but with high hopes.

After just a few moments speaking with Sonia, the owner all that I had been missing clicked! We talked for what must have been the better part of an hour regarding everything from her business' family history to the flower petals our guests would toss... Any email or phone call was always promptly returned and handled with such detail and care. Sonia is a true inspiration, she has a genuine passion for what she does and who she creates things for.

After a few lengthy emails filled with pictures, suggestions and seasoned valuable advice we cemented our ideas in place. I planned a weekend trip up north to visit a few vendors a month prior to the big date and Sonia was one of the first on my list. I was so excited to meet her in person, after my prior negitive experience I truly valued and respected Sonia's genuine demeanor and patience, I had not only found a provider of a service but someone I enjoyed speaking to and getting to know.

Upon arrival that weekend with my mother and mother-in-law Sonia had prepared a sample bouquet and had a broad selection of flowers per our conversations on hand to greet us with. Not only did I feel excited to finally meet her but I was watching my ideas come to life, she completely understood my tastes, theme and impression with such ease. Before my moms and I left Sonia's 65 year family owned & operated beautiful nursery and shop everything flower related was planned and confirmed.

The day of, Sonia arrived before any other vendor to prepare and place the slew of amazing ideas we spoke about. I had under-estimated the intensity of that morning, originally planning to assist her with just about everything and was pulled away. She took charge and I never once felt a thread of doubt that things would be done incorrectly - the final result was beyond expectation and superseded anything I could have ever imagined, phenominal. Sonia even coordinated with our baker and provided us the flowers for our cake.

Along the way Sonia and I had spoken about a few flowers that she was not able to hunt down, harvest or grow herself - due to the odd season (awesome that she even considered that!) and substitutions for those choices. Sonia had friends/suppliers looking at markets in Reno, all over Plumas County and even Los Angeles! How could I ever be disapointed for not getting a certain flower when she so clearly wanted exactly what I did and looked out for me with such consideration? The end result was even better than what we had originally considered, her talent filled in any possible gap, she blew us away. Not to mention her flowers lasted two weeks after the wedding! - my mother-in-law took home the spray that was above our arch, after we came back from our honeymoon she reported with astonishment that she had reluctantly just thrown it away.

Sonia & Gray's Flower Garden is a pristine example of how all businesses should be. Working with Gray's was "a trip back to perfect Americana" as my mom put it, the proper way of conducting business, considering people as people not as dollar signs or numbers. She even left us a beautiful card with her best wishes that we opened later that evening in awe. I feel as though I genuinely made a friend in Sonia and I intend to be a loyal customer, despite the distance for any future event or for a refferal, she's my number one choice hands down. Heck, even just to call and say hi!

You will not be disapointed, you'll be thrilled!

Sonia you blew us away, you're incredible...
With Love,
Ashley

Initially Gray's Flower Garden was great to work with and I am sad to report it ended up a nightmare. My husband and I used them for our wedding in July. We absolutely loved working with Sonia during the planning process... quick, easy and accommodating. It went downhill when Gray's setup the flowers the day before our wedding which we weren't comfortable with, but we decided to trust Sonia's word when she assured us she does it all the time... she's the professional, right? WRONG - common sense, they are flowers and they die! The day of our wedding we had dead flower arrangements. We tried to shake it off, but it was bothersome when our guests kept bringing it to our attention. Shame on us for thinking the flowers would be okay. A few weeks after our wedding we contacted Gray's thanking them and shared the bad news with photos. They were kind to offer us a reimbursement. We really appreciated it as we were bummed we had paid for dead flowers and it was nobody's fault but theirs. In August we followed up because we hadn't heard a word. They proceeded to tell us their account was overdrawn because a large amount had been accidentally debited which to us felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. Regardless of how we felt, we remained understanding and patient. It is now September and Gray's will not return our emails or calls. I am in the hospitality/event industry and hate to give anything but great reviews, however, I would HATE for this to happen to anyone else. Do not let them setup the day before your wedding... silliest idea ever.
