It’s super daunting planning a trip to a place like Japan, where we had never been, don’t speak the language, or understand the writing - but Alex was incredibly helpful with everything from how to navigate, what apps to have, and recommending what to think about, to suggesting great hotels and ryokans, udon and sushi spots - at all points in our budget - that all turned out to be great! We asked Alex to plan us a surprise vacation and it was the best thing ever. Alex planned all our flights, hotels, and destinations for a 10 day adventure and we didn't know where we were going until we got to the airport.

How'd it work? We met with Alex and she asked us our budget, our travel preferences, types of places we've wanted to visit, type of adventure we wanted to have (adventurous, chill, etc.), places we didn't want to travel to (because we had been there before or want to plan a trip there ourselves). After that one-time conversation, Alex took into consideration all that we shared and planned the most magical getaway.

She selected and booked our flights, hotels, local travel (shuttles, transit tickets, etc) and a few experiences and created a suggested itinerary for every day of the trip. The itinerary had two options for each day: if we were feeling energetic or if we wanted a slower paced day. She even included restaurant recommendations for every single meal.

She provided a packing list that had exactly what we needed and gave us an idea of what the weather would be like so we could pack appropriately. She did a fabulous job - I felt like I packed perfectly thanks to the list.

Leading up to the trip, she gave us a few hints to build anticipation. Day of, we went to the airport, still having no idea where we were going, and opened an envelope to reveal our surprise destinations. Alex had created an email account that we got access to that had confirmation codes, airport tickets, and any other info we needed for various reservations. She provided us with a guidebook that allowed us to get to know more about our destination. We spent the flight reading the entire book :)

We ended up going to Croatia and Montenegro. I don't know how she did it, but she did an amazing job taking into consideration all the various criteria we shared in that first call. It's like she knew what we needed out of a vacation better than we knew ourselves!

This was the most magical trip because every day felt like a surprise. Everyday was such a treat because of the fact that we did none of the planning. Sometimes we'd veer from the itinerary if there was something extra we wanted to do and other times we'd follow the itinerary to the T. It was great having that option.

I'm usually a big planner so I wasn't sure how I'd feel handing everything over to someone else. I am so glad I stepped outside of my comfort zone and went through with this surprise trip - I couldn't imagine doing it with anyone other than Alex. Her thoughtfulness and thoroughness made the adventure so smooth and so enjoyable. I'm so grateful for her services.
