My daughter wanted a coastal town wedding. We shopped many locations on Florida's panhandle. Many of the ones in the panama city area were nice but not "special" then we went to Apalachicola Florida and the Gibson Inn! From the beginning, Sue, the manager, walked us through what a wedding reception would be like at the Inn. It is a beautiful 19th century Inn that has been completely renovated with 30 wonderful rooms. All we had to do was fill all the rooms for the night of the wedding and the Inn was ours. The Gibson provided the bar and allowed us to bring in our own caterer (as they were at the time between chefs - this has recently been rectified and they have a great new chef). They worked well with our wedding planner and made sure that all guests were comfortable. I can't imagine a more perfect place to have a wedding reception!

We loved the Gibson as our venue! Sue was a bit difficult to work with at first, but really came around. She took a long time to decide that we could use an outside caterer after their restauranteur left. It took some work to get the items we wanted covered included in the contract. Once those initial bumps were out of the way she was very accomodating and responsive. The staff was so great - many of our guest commented so.

If you want an antique feel to your reception location I would recommend the Gibson. You have to fill the hotel to close the bar to the public (30 rooms). The bar minimum is a little high, but there is no fee to use the facility.

We would definitely use the Gibson again.
