Gary Kelley is a Wedding Officiant, ordained minister, and award-winning Wedding DJ and Emcee with more than four decades of experience helping couples celebrate some of the most important moments of their lives.
Many couples—and often their parents—recognize Gary from his years on San Diego radio, where every station he worked for reached #1 in the ratings, as well as from his work in local television at ABC 10 News. Long before becoming an officiant, Gary spent decades helping couples celebrate their wedding days as a professional DJ, Emcee, and host.
Today, he brings that experience to a much more personal role.
Gary believes the best wedding ceremonies aren't about scripts or formalities. They're about the two people standing in front of him.
He begins by learning your story—your personalities, your relationship, the moments that brought you together, and how you want your ceremony to feel. From there, he creates a ceremony that is personal, warm, natural, and uniquely yours.
Heartfelt and emotional. Lighthearted and relaxed. Traditional, faith-centered, or beautifully simple. There is no one right way to get married.
Gary's approach combines professionalism with warmth, humor, sincerity, and genuine care. His goal is for you to feel comfortable, confident, and completely present when the moment arrives.

And when the ceremony is over, Gary guides you and your witnesses through the marriage license, making sure everything is completed and signed correctly. He then promptly mails it to the County Clerk with tracking, so you know this important final step has been taken care of.

Wonderful Celebration of Life officiant
We provided him with the obituary and answered some questions, and Gary made sure to have all the pronunciations of certain words correct. He arrived on the day of the event on time, actually early, and was well-dressed and presentable. He made everyone feel welcome and delivered the tribute so perfectly. He had everyone feeling that he was part of the family.
I would highly recommend Gary for all kinds of officiating, from weddings to celebrations of life and beyond.

He sent us a voice recording beforhand, and we loved it. At our wedding, his voice was clear, calm, and soothing, which made a huge difference during such an emotional moment. He led us through our vows in a way that felt natural and heartfelt, allowing us to stay present and truly take in every second. Our wedding day itself was quite hectic, especially with the unexpected challenges of moving between outdoor and indoor spaces due to the heat (100 degreees!). Despite everything going on, Gary remained composed, attentive, and incredibly thoughtful throughout. He handled every situation with grace and made sure the ceremony flowed smoothly, which meant so so much to all of us.
We’re still waiting to receive our wedding photos and videos from the photographer, so it’s a little disappointing that we don’t have those moments captured just yet—but even without them, we clearly remember how wonderful Gary was and how beautifully he led our ceremony.
