The Forge in the Forest was a magical place to have our Welcome Reception the evening before our wedding. The food was amazing and the staff were so wonderful. The decorations were beautiful. Our guests had so much fun getting to know each other in such a special setting. Carolyne was friendly, helpful, patient and kind. She responded quickly and was ready with ideas and suggestions. From start to finish my experience was wonderful.

We hosted our rehearsal dinner here and couldn’t have asked for a better venue. Carolyne was great to work with and made us feel so celebrated the whole day. All our guests raved about the food and overall loved the vibe.

This is also a great spot for lunch or dinner any day of the week and dog friendly!

The Forge was fantastic. We met a few times with Deborah and she was amazing. We had a tasting of all our food, and got to meet the chef. Our food was fabulous and everyone raved. It was a piece of cake- they did all the set-up, clean-up, and the value was amazing. I would recommend them to anyone.

I had my reception here without ever trying to food. Big mistake. First off the food was OK. Secondly they did not offer very much variety. I thought that they could have decorated the tables nicer. Just a black table cloth and some yellow roses. The room was very dark and drab. It was incredibly hard to get a hold of the coordinator. Email was the best way. For overall experience this was my least favorite part of the wedding. Very disappointing.

The only tarnish on our perfect wedding weekend in Carmel was due to the event we held at the Forge. The event coordinator, who was our primary planning contact, was not in attendance at our (60) person event. Needless to say, we were left with an incompetent staff and manager to run the party. They delivered a fraction of the food listed on our contract and our guests left starving and disappointed. Our guests complained to us that the staff would pour full glasses of wine and then as soon as they set their glass down - the staff would clear it away so the guest would have to ask for another glass. This allowed them to pad the bill by charging for an absurd amount of wine. Needless to say, when I received the check we were GROSSLY overcharged and no one could provide me with an explanation or a formal itemized bill. I spent the night before my wedding, extremely upset and stressed instead of celebrating. I could go into many more details about how awful this night turned out but the bottom-line: We have never been as disrespected by an establishment as we were at The Forge. My wedding coordinators said they have never in their entire careers, dealt with such an unprofessional vendor. To make matters worse, the managers and the owner couldn't care less. They didn't respond to our calls or to the certified letter we sent attempting to make contact and work towards a solution. Clearly, the owner has created an unethical environment making it okay for them to take advantage of patrons. Wedding coordinators and hotels in the Carmel Valley are spreading the word that The Forge is not the place to go. Consider this your warning and make sure you look elsewhere when booking a special wedding event.
