Chef Carla’s Story
Chef Carla Vidal-Lopez was born in Lima, Peru, where her love for cooking began at just eight years old. Food has always been part of her identity — a way to connect, celebrate, and tell stories through flavor.
After moving to the United States, Carla earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, a background that continues to influence her distinctive approach to food presentation and event styling. While she enjoyed design, her true passion was always in the kitchen. Ten years ago, she courageously changed careers to pursue her dream of becoming a chef, supported by her husband and her two young sons.
Carla received her formal culinary training at the International Culinary Center in Campbell, California, where she introduced her peers to the beauty and complexity of Peruvian cuisine, blending bold South American flavors with classical French techniques.
Today, Chef Carla works alongside an exceptional culinary and event team, including a French-trained chef and a dedicated floral and design team, allowing Far Out Catering & Events to deliver not only extraordinary food, but also beautifully styled, cohesive experiences for every celebration.
In addition to her savory work, Chef Carla is also an accomplished pastry chef, known for creating custom cakes, dessert tables, and elegant sweets that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Her work blends culinary artistry, refined design, and heartfelt hospitality — the foundation of everything Far Out Catering & Events represents.
