Dyck Arboretum of the Plains is an outdoorsy wedding venue in Hesston, Kansas. They offer the perfect location for wedding receptions, rehearsals and outdoor ceremonies. Facilities and Capacity
For your outdoor ceremony, you have the option of choosing from several locations that overlook the lake or their more private amphitheatre for a more intimate prairie garden ceremony. For the reception, the venue options include the gorgeous larger Prairie Pavilion, which has a covered patio with sliding glass doors. Or you can choose the smaller Visitor and Education Center, which includes a kitchen, bridal room, full-length windows, a gallery and entry hall. Both of these locations have full views of the gardens and grounds. Both buildings also provide a sound system and drop-down screens for showing videos or slideshows. Rental of both buildings, which are connected by a patio, is recommended for wedding parties of over 150 guests, and/or for weddings serving a formal dinner. However, this venue space can accommodate a maximum occupancy of 200 guests comfortably.

Services Offered
The venue's coordinator will assist you to make sure your wedding vision will come to life. For your outdoor ceremony, white chairs are available to rent. For your reception, you have full usage of their banquet tables and padded wooden chairs. Plus, a preparation kitchen in the Visitor and Education Center is available for use by outside caterers. History
The arboretum was a gift of Harold and Elva Mae Dyck, who are well-known for their contributions to the Hesston community where they have lived since 1949. The first tree of the Dyck Arboretum of the Plains was planted October 10, 1981 on the 13 acres that comprise the current gardens. Now, the arboretum has matured into one of the largest native plant gardens in the region, featuring more than 1,000 varieties of native and adaptable trees, shrubs, wildflowers and grasses. It was their hope that the arboretum would encourage a greater understanding and appreciation of the prairie and the simple beauty of Kansas.
