Reviews of DJ RUSS & BRANDON SHEEHAN

Would recommend Russ to anyone!

We had a tall order for our wedding -- guests were from diverse age groups, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ethnicities with different levels of comfort dancing. We're also a pretty conservation Christian group, so we asked for clean music, and we had a bunch of Asian family that would most likely not dance. With such a diverse group, we had little expectations for our dance floor haha!

You know Russ and Brandon are great when they got both grandmas dancing (in their 90's through a language barrier!) They were professional throughout the process of planning and candidly shared their thoughts throughout, which helped with the decision making process. One of our favorite parts of the night was the snowball dance (which was a Russ recommendation)! We are beyond grateful for the amazing night they provided for our wedding.

Russ & Brandon Sheehan were fantastic! The father-son duo was incredibly helpful during the planning process and kept the dance floor packed for the entire reception. Our ceremony required battery powered equipment which they recently acquired and it worked flawlessly. Their attention to detail, energy, and commitment to the party was superb. We would recommend them without hesitation!

Russ and Brandon and the entire Get Down Entertainment team are top notch, and we would recommend them without hesitation. They made the entire process a very smooth and fun ride. We planned most of our wedding from 3,000 miles away, and they never skipped a beat (pun fully intended), scheduling calls to account for the time difference, reminding us when we fell behind in schedule, and providing tools to help us organize our thoughts.

When we got closer to the date, Russ and Brandon were really helpful in crafting the schedule of the evening and in selecting songs for certain moments in the reception that we couldn't come up with on our own. They were even really accommodating when we came to them with a TON of songs to play that had been requested by guests prior to the day. Russ made some really great recommendations on how to reinvent some of the more traditional activities in the reception that were a hit with our guests. I won't give away his secrets, you'll have to ask him yourself, but they are very creative and people mentioned them after the wedding. Both Russ and Brandon have a pretty encyclopedic knowledge of music, and excellent with not only recommending alternatives when our initial choices may not have had the right tone or tempo, but they knew exactly the right part of a song to play to accentuate what was going on in the night.

During the night, Russ is a very fun and gregarious MC who ran a tight ship (my best man commented that ours was one of the more smoothly run weddings he's been to). He has that rare mix of class and comedic timing that made for a perfect host, without stealing the show. And he paid attention: my best man's speech had a story from my childhood that he brought back later in the evening by playing a Beastie Boys song that tied in to the story. None of that was planned, but it was a great moment for me and for the rest of the guests on the dance floor. It's those little details that make the difference.

Russell and Brandon are a wonderful duo and we could not have asked for better DJ's for our Wedding June 5, 2016 at The Margate in Laconia, NH. . Russell went above and beyond from guidance on music selection, to helping us find the best quality versions of songs, to his fun and unique take on the bouquet and garter toss and the centerpiece giveaway game, etc. Russell was very flexible in accommodating our requests. We had some conflicts with certain family members and he ensured us he would not allow any negative speeches to be made; the mic would be cut. It ended up raining on our day which presented last minute changes to the ceremony and reception however Russell and Brandon went with the flow and helped make our day special. Russell and his son were very careful to make sure they pronounced everyone's names' correctly and gave us advice on different aspects of the Wedding process. We are very appreciative for all of his help. Russell and I communicated through phone, email, Facebook, and met in person. Russell even dressed to match our Wedding colors! I know this review may sound overally positive but that is because we are highly pleased with the service we received and would recommend them to anyone! He cared a lot about us and making our day special which made us feel valued and not as if we were just another gig.

He said he could do an outdoor ceremony on a hill, then said he needed power a few weeks prior. On the day of the wedding we not only realized that he decided to only add a few songs from the artists we chose he kept the jazz in, I am not sure how others would feel about this, I can assure for 2 or so hours of music there was plenty to use to not have included the jazz. I know that our guests had no idea what was decided so they weren’t aware the music was not as we choose, but we both looked at each other at dinner when we heard yet again another song we were not expecting. It was between us and we were annoyed. Then there was the cake cutting, I was barely through cutting my slice when he announced for the groom to cut his slice, I quickly finished and tossed it on the plate but was actually quite sad about that, and it was captured on film, could he not see what we were doing? In the end it wasn’t worth the argument during our day, but when it was requested that we write a review I was a bit shocked. First, he was the only vendor to ask for one, but when I initially told him I prefer to not write one since I was not too thrilled he replied with telling me he went above and beyond and even spent money to purchase a generator!
In the end I feel he had a template and was not happy when I went outside of this template, so not wanting Jazz meant he had to create a playlist for us. As for the generator that was on him, don’t tell a potential client that you can do something that you cannot.

He may be good for people that want the cookie-cutter experience, but if you’re expecting something custom, I was not impressed.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
