I could not recommend DJ Mark Maskell more! If I could give him more than 5 stars I would. From our first zoom he was extremely professional and obviously loves his job and wants to make the day special for each couple. He turned our reception into the most fun dance party better than we imagined. He provides cocktail hour playlists, the most beautiful lighting and dance floor lighting to set the mood for the venue. Everyone had a blast, thanks to his amazing DJing with his incredible playlists and his ability to read the room. He even took pictures of our first dance, parents dances and electric dance floor moments that were so fun to see the next day! DJ Maskell is an all-around fantastic person to work with. We can’t recommend him enough! If you want someone who genuinely cares about making your wedding or event unforgettable, DJ Maskell is the the perfect fit! I would hire him again and again!!

Mark Maskell was absolutely incredible. Even though we had an all-inclusive venue, he was my one non-negotiable outside vendor from the very beginning.

As someone who has been to a million weddings and genuinely loves music and going out, I hate cheesy wedding music and forced line dancing. Mark was the only DJ whose bio openly said that if you are looking for that vibe, he is not the DJ for you. That honesty alone sold me.

From the start, Mark went far above and beyond what was included in our contract. He spent countless hours helping us curate our wedding timeline, reviewing my very Type A spreadsheets, and offering thoughtful guidance. He honestly felt more like a second wedding planner than just a DJ during the planning process.

And the lights. The lighting setup and light show were unreal and completely elevated the entire experience. Mark truly curates the music and the atmosphere to you as a couple, not just a generic wedding crowd.

On top of all that, he is just a genuinely wonderful human. Easy to connect with, great dark humor, ADHD energy that matched ours perfectly. He is someone I would happily hang out with on a random Tuesday.

Our dance floor vibes were immaculate, and we were the only wedding I have ever attended that did not have a single technical issue on the DJ’s end. Truly flawless execution.

DJ Maskell was amazing! Super easy to chat with, and we loved his energy. He read the room perfectly while still keeping our music preferences in mind. The lighting he set up was incredible and really elevated the entire vibe. I don’t even know how to begin this review!! First, I will say, if you are considering booking Mark for your wedding, do it right now. I promise it’ll be the best decision you make! I was originally searching for a DJ who aligned with my aversion to the YMCA and the cha-cha slide, so when I saw that called out on Mark's website, I knew he’d be a great fit for our wedding! We had a wonderful first Zoom meeting and knew immediately we wanted to book Mark. He was extremely helpful throughout the planning process! We had a few planning calls leading up to the big day where he helped us go through alllllll the nitty gritty details, offering expert advice for things I hadn’t even thought of- from timing flow to tips and tricks like how to set up ceremony chairs. As a DIY bride who loved planning her wedding but honestly got kind of fatigued by the end, these talks with Mark were not only invigorating but also made me feel like I wasn’t doing all of this alone. I felt so supported and confident going into the big day. I also planned an East Coast wedding from the West Coast and was excited to finally meet all my vendors face-to-face. After building a great connection with Mark over Zoom the last year, I have to say we were most excited to finally get to meet him in person!

Okay, now for the wedding day experience, a couple of words come to mind. Flawless, jaw-dropping, face-melting, fun.

I have a special affinity for music, so out of all the wedding day components, I was most excited for the tunes. One of my friends told me the pre-ceremony music made them feel like they were in a movie (score!) and the timing of all the ceremony songs was on point. More compliments ensued during cocktail hour. At this point, I was floating on cloud nine with my now husband, so it was super helpful when Mark rallied the bridal party together for our reception entrance and created exactly the energetic atmosphere I was hoping for! Mark was the perfect emcee for all the speeches, and cracked a few jokes before my brothers did their speech. At that point, I remember thinking Mark felt like more than a vendor. He was like family!

Okay, now for my favorite part- the dancing. I had expressed to Mark that I thought it’d be fun to do crowd-pleasing songs for a little while and then transition into more EDM style music. The best way I can describe how fun dancing was is to say that within our core group of friends, for 3 hours NOONE wanted to leave the dance floor to get another drink, to go to the bathroom, or anything. Anytime I thought I was going to sneak away for a second, a banger would drop and I would say, “well I can’t leave now!!” Also, THE LIGHTS! Check out his Instagram videos, and you’ll see what I mean. I’ve never seen such cool lights at a wedding before. It transformed the whole experience. Mark even invited my husband and me behind the DJ booth. I got to give the light control a spin, which we both agreed was one of our favorite moments from our whole wedding!

If I had a nickel for every time someone came up to me to ask me how I found Mark, to tell me how much they liked the music and lights, or how this was the best dancefloor of any wedding they’d ever been to, I could retire!

TL,DR: book Mark now. He’s an absolute genius and the best in the world at what he does. No hyperbole here!!

We cannot say enough amazing things about DJ Maskell. From start to finish, he delivered an unforgettable experience and truly exceeded every expectation.
My husband and I are big electronic music fans — we go to festivals, shows, and are very particular about sound, mixing, and overall vibe. Mark was an extremely professional and down to earth DJ who brought the party. He helped us with a lot of the planning stages of the wedding including timeline and the layout of the venue. He was able to fuse my husband's Perisan background with our preference for EDM so that all the guests were happy with the music. I got many compliments on how much fun the wedding was, in no small part because of Mark. Plus he had an awesome light set up that made for great photos! And he worked with us to set up a projector screen so we could also have a nice slideshow. I would definitely recommend DJ Maskell to all my friends!!

HIRE THIS MAN FOR YOUR WEDDING! DJ Maskell completely transformed our wedding planning process. From the initial phone call, we could tell that he was experienced and reliable. He showed genuine interest in understanding the vibe of the wedding and incorporating our interests. Without overstepping, he was eager to share his industry wisdom and offered a wedding planning spreadsheet template that became our holy grail for staying organized during the process. The day of the wedding, he was reliable and professional. We had two ceremonies in one day, and several of our vendors expressed concern that people wouldn't want to stick around for dancing. Wrong! He kept the dance floor full all night with positive energy and good mixing. He even adjusted the lighting and audio to help me lead a line dancing tutorial on stage :). We feel like his pricing was a steal given his included lighting package that transformed our venue. Overall, could not have been happier with our experience!

Everyone should be particularly picky when it comes to their DJ, and if you think you can simply swap a DJ out for a Spotify playlist - think again. I knew Mark was the perfect man to do the job for us when: he told us he’d been doing this for decades and has experience as a coordinator as well (we love a professional with lots of experience); he strived to make things simple for us by not complicating fees and add-ons — he simply said “you have me for the ENTIRE day, and if it fits into my car, I’ll bring it for you”; and most importantly he emphasized to me how much he hated “the typical wedding song”. Future brides and grooms, you can either have “Happy” played at your wedding, or you can have a killer dance floor - not both, I’m sorry. Mark not only has excellent taste in music that will *actually* get your guests hype and feral, he knows how to read the room, which is arguably the most important skill a DJ could have. He knows when to play what type of song when, and he also knows how to MC your ceremony, toasts, grand entrances, first dances, etc. so that there are never awkward pauses in the room. As an extremely detail-oriented bride, I also knew someone had to plan and set up the *vibes*. News flash - vibes don’t just create themselves! And this is where things like background music playing and LIGHTING is so important. As I said above, Mark is happy to bring any gear that he possesses and will fit into his car. He brought everything from speakers and mics to magical equipment called “up-lights” (Google photos - you’ll know what I mean) that turn each room into a dreamy, romantic, and vibey space. And last but not least, Mark brought his insane light show for our dance floor. Have you ever been to a concert where the arena and stage was just dark? No, you haven’t because that would be a really terrible concert. If you want a fun dance floor, you’re going to need multiple lights of different colors, all flashing to the beat of the song. And luckily for you, Mark is a huge lighting wizard, and he will bring all sorts of equipment to make you feel like you’re at the club or a crazy concert. Stop looking elsewhere and just book Mark. Seriously.

We booked Mark to DJ on our wedding day, but he did so much more than that. We didn’t have a coordinator, as it was a smaller wedding, so Mark stepped up and essentially acted as the coordinator. We had several zoom calls leading up to the wedding to touch base and run through everything. He offered a ton of good advice and details we wouldn’t have thought of. He came a day early to set up all of his stuff, so that the wedding day would be smoother and less stressful. He is energetic and upbeat, which was much needed during all the emotional tears throughout the day. The lighting/light show was beyond incredible for the dance party, photos couldn’t do it justice. He played all of our must-play songs, and definitely got the vibe of what music we like for other moments. He is very self-sufficient with travel and set up, which is a huge relief when having to manage everything else. He has a wealth of knowledge in the wedding space, extremely attentive to detail, and can do it all. He really cares about your wedding day being the best it can be. Highly recommend using Mark!
